Oh wait…nevermind. I was just reminded of your addiction with the GT86s. :lol: It was originally meant to say that my Impreza would be a nice break from the GT86s, but nevermind now. :lol:

Only it doesn't have enough grip, at least from the ones I've driven. Is it the type of car where if you neuter it, you slow it? (i.e like the Evora, LFA, RGT)
 
The fish has his 520 R-34 listed with no front downforce. Is that accurate or should it read 2 front downforce?

I really don`t see any problem for you to present your car because of 2 points downforce. Making a GTR be a pleasant car to drive is a real challenge. Fast, everyody know they are, nothing new till there. But, transforming this (TRAIN) in a responsive ,aggressive car, showing how a good tune can transform and push the limit of it..... This is what any tuner like to do and what any driver looking for a special setting want to find.
For me 100% ok MCH submit this Nissan. I don´t have the car, but i know a lot of people asking for a good tune for it, i think this is the good oportunity.

Personally ,my car is not a special shootout tune, it´s an adaptation of my Touge 500PP sport hard tune. I love to drive it on Toscana road and i will be happy to see more 4WD like this. Like i hate 99% of the FF but with a good tune they are amazing cars, like the last 400pp ring shootout showed us perfectly. CSLACR integra, OnboyHiunday,Herman CRX, Cy and Theo Focus... are here to show it´s possible.
So that´s it, i think it´s too much important for any GTPlayer to have a good GTR tune , to prohibe it because of 2 points FR down force. This is my point of view.

Ok been reading over the posts about the GT-R and since when the gtr has its stock wing there is no front down force to be seen i have to allow the car in, if he had added a gt auto wing it would be a different story cause then there would be 2/2 front down force. But like i said he has a stock wing and with that there is no front down force. To say but the front down force is still there is valid but you don't know for sure, you are guessing at that point. That's how i am ruling this little hiccup, it is my fault for being vague on the rules for this part, i wanted gt-rs to be in the shootout so i think by having them with stock wings allows this to happen and slightly bends the rules but doesnt break them techinically...

The thing is, if we are that linear with the rules, someone could rock up with a car with X amount of front downforce in an event with it ruled out and just say "Well, if the R35 is allowed in and it has it, why can't car X be allowed? It runs the same downforce up front/only has X clicks more&#8230;", the whole event would fall apart.

Unfortunately, rules are rules, we need to be stringent with them. We may be making a massive fuss over the 2 clicks, and I also understand that Motor City Hami spent a good deal of time on the R35, but&#8230;eh&#8230;sorry to say, but&#8230;tough.

Edit: Eh, I want to try and prove this front downforce conundrum. I know that in GT5P, when you have a car that has a higher front downforce than the back, the nose would&#8230;er&#8230;nose dive over a bump. I'm guessing this is still true with GT5, so if you drive a car with front downforce (i.e the California) over a bump like the one on Eiger, the result should be that it dives a bit. It's a very flawed solution to a very minor issue, but that's the best method I can think of. I might just test this myself to avoid dragging things off topic any further though.

Yes ,you´re also right. You can see a competition with rules to respect ..... Or a competition with rule ,like Ryangt say ( bending rules that doesnt break them techinically...) this is a very good pretext to produce very good cars ,even if they don´t win the event or dominate it a few.
 
So if I have to buy an aero kit to see it then it is not stock. The aero kit comes with 2 clicks of non-adjustable front downforce.

Just adding a different perspective.

Yeah. You always want a little bit of slip in a GT86. It doesn't have many torques so you need to keep the revs up through the corners to keep the speed up.

And I've been thinking all this time why it feels so deliberately loose and kills me when my fingers get itchy. It's happened so many times I can start a tally of kills, every time I spin a GT86, I get a "|" thing.
 
Just my own thoughts on the downforce issue.

As I pointed out earlier the original ruling was no front downforce. Just because the tuning sheet doesn't show the downforce a car has doesn't necessarily mean its not there.
Your tuning sheets will only show downforce if you can adjust part of it. If cars are allowed in events that prohibit a certain amount of downforce because their sheets don't show it then it tends to negate the reason for the rule. The GT-R R35 only has 2 points which isn't that big a deal but does have a slight impact on handling. Other cars like the Viper SRT10 ACR have 10 points or more front downforce that is not apparent until a rear wing is installed. If an event said you couldn't have more than 5 points of front downforce someone could argue that the ACR was exempt because those 10 points didn't show as long as they kept the stock rear wing.

With the above being said I personally have no issue with Motor City Hamilton entering his R35. The no downforce rule was mainly put in place to prevent the 550PP class from being overrun by ZZIIs not lock out the much more common cars like the R35. Also since this is ryangt's event he gets final say in approving entries and interpreting the rules. As event sponsors we try to have solid rules in place for our events but sometimes find that what looked like a simple solution to an unexpected issue can prove problematic as is the case here.

This is shaping up to be a great event with an interesting mix of cars, some aiming to be crowned as top performers in their class and some just looking to be fun yet fast cars. Let's keep this rolling along in a fun manner and not get overly bogged down in playing rule lawyers as it would be easy to do over some of the other entries.👍👍

This is where I'm at. Obviously it has no impact on me whatsoever, as I'm only submitting for the 520PP category. 2 points of aero isn't enough to get bent out of shape about, in my humblest opinion. Plus I think Praiano has a point. Why not let the GT-R through and indirectly provide the community with something that's been asked for.

Final say goes to Ryan, I think, unless there's an overwhelming consensus from the 550PP participants that the GT-R should be excluded...

Nothing else can keep up with them with mixed drivers.

In no way will I be upset if the R35 get's bounced. It was a fun car to tune and in many ways took more skill to tune than other cars that I have done. I can always build another 550PP entry.

X - Not directed at you, just replied to your quote since we are now into hair splitting over the rules. This is for the community as a whole. I don't know that I believe that a car has aero if it cannot be seen. It could be as I said a few posts ago that when you buy the aero package that it also adds 2 pts of non-adjustable front aero. All cars have front downforce and in stock mode, there is no way to see the amount. I think the above quote would apply to all cars in the game, correct?

Rotary - are you even signed up for this event or are you just here to hate on the GT-R?

My LFA is pretty close to the R35. And I'm sure I can build an R34 that will be just as good.

Don't think I officially "signed up", no.

But I'm here. And it looks like I'm running a bloody R35 for the first time ever. I've spent 20 minutes tuning them. 15 for one for uMadson?, 5 on my own that was only ever used to keep people from being able to run an R35 in a race series I used to be in without going

Had an alternate plan that wouldn't have won a single class but would've been at least fun... But I can't let you do that, Starfox. 550PP R35 it is.

My LFA is pretty close to the R35. And I'm sure I can build an R34 that will be just as good.

I guarantee you cannot build an R34 that will be remotely close to the R35, even if you leave the R35 on stock everything outside of power.

And I mean stock.
 
Must say its simply amazing the difference 30PP and a one grade step in tires can make. My 520PP "DMWG Phase II" should be a full 3 seconds faster at Tsukuba.:dopey:
Haven't taken it to Suzuka yet but expecting an even greater improvement there.:D
 
Ok lets do this, no adjustable front aero is allowed, that should keep out the 390's, nsx lm road car (or w/e it called), and the other crazy cars that would dominate, but still allow gt-r's. how does that sound?

Other than the R35 I'm not sure what if any other Japanese street cars have non adjustable front aero anyways.:odd:
