Ew…R35. :yuck:

You couldn't have been more tasteless. No wonder you said it was getting faster per lap on test, it's a R35, what the hell do you expect? No skill required at all.

Haters be hate'n..........

I love the R35..... the only problem with it is....it's dominance over everything when it comes to going round a bend at speed.......:)

@rotary junkie...... you would only know that if you put a rear wing on, which Hami has not....so it should be legal........

How do you figure that? The front downforce shouldn't be tied in with the rear downforce, it's just that adding the rear wing makes the front downforce visible. The car comes with it from stock, it's not like it's added with the wing.

so if you go to the tuning settings on the standard vehicle can you change the downforce at all?............the answer is no you can not, therefore it should be fine....

if it came up and you can see it in the settings then it should most certainly be not allowed,

however leaving the aftermarket rear wing off alleviates that issue... as the car shows no down force settings at all with no aftermarket wing affixed......

An RX-8 has a front lip too visually...... "my interpretation of the rule is an adjustable front wing"

Hey we knew someone wanted to try and win by using a GT-R.... But I assure you that car is by no means the fastest round Suzuka by a long shot.:sly:

on a different note....... I've tested all 3 FT-86's and there is only hundredth's of seconds between them:tup:....... I do not envy whomever is calculating the times in 490pp bracket:nervous::nervous:

Just because something isn't there for us to see, doesn't mean it therefore doesn't exist all together in the case given. If that's the case as you put it and it is fine to enter a car which might have nonadjustable front downforce as long as it can't be seen, then I'm entering a California into the next high PP shootout as that as 15…clicks (?) of downforce up front when you buy it.

Just my views on this…heck, I bet I wouldn't feel so strongly about this if it wasn't a R35, but it does seem to be a bit of a murky area, to be honest. Oh, and MCH, no offense intended on the "tasteless" comment, just me. Again.

Edit-

"Cars are not allowed to have front downforce"

To me that says if there is no downforce showing on the setup page the car that it does not have a front wing regardless of what we know is on the car in the back end.

If we had a comp and the rule was no rear wing, and someone say for instance entered a doge ACR viper, then it should be allowed to enter as the rear wing is not adjustable, we do know however that the wing does serve a function, and does give the car downforce.

it's like having an 98' evo versus 98' wrx battle and saying no rear wing... yet we know that majority of late model evos have adjustable rear wings, where as subarus do not however we also know that the rear wing on the subaru must in some way contribute to the downforce on the car, even though we cannot see it in the settings

PM me to debate more...... don't want to ruin this post.....

FYI for everyone out there in 490pp I've just tested a lightening quick car that was posted by one of you amazing tuners...... the times this car pulled in 2 lots of 6 laps at both circuits was by far and a ways the fastest of the bunch!!! 👍👍

Looking forward to testing more soon.......

So my Suzuki Alto RR sports can't join cause it has a front splitter:D:D:D

Eh…wut? Front splitter ≠ Front downforce. Splitters have no performance effects in GT5, they are just there for show. In my California example, the front downforce remains at 15 regardless of the splitter being installed or not. Anyway, enough of this, leave this buggery mess for the more knowledgeable tuners to sort out, I've got to get my baby out the door. :D

You quoted the rule that ryangt made and it was brought up at the time that the R35 would be excluded by the rule. The rule states "no front downforce", it doesn't state that only adjustable or visible downforce is excluded.

I need to see that post again. Please link it.

Would everyone feel better if I tuned what Praiano did for his 520 entry?

Which post? Hermann's one? Just look about…2 posts or so above Desperado's one. The quote is in the OP.

Just transfer the settings to a standard R35…no front downforce I can remember of in that thing.

Please don't take what I've said as a personal attack, and to be honest it doesn't really matter to me since I highly doubt my Caldinas have a real chance of winning any of the classes and I'm just doing them for the "Shock and Awe" value.

:ouch: MCH, Y U NO READ DA WHITE?!!?!

Run the tune as best you can with a standard '07 R35, no downforce up front that I can recall at all.

All 9,001 GT-R's have 2 front downforce, including the GT Academy and the GT Academy Special. I actually explained all this when the rule first came into effect.

And that was…oh so long ago.
Yeah, just went back to find it.
Cars without adjustable downforce will not show any downforce figures in the settings, but once you put an adjustable wing on, you'll see what the stock dowforce figures are. For the R35 this figure is 2/2. Common sense would dictate that both GT Academy versions would still have downforce, as they are just repainted SpecV's.

Just to add a bit more info, a rear wing will add 20 points of rear downforce (with an adjustment range of 5 - 20) and nothing on the front. This is why a tuned GT-R ends up with 2/22 downforce.

I just realised…this had been an evil plan all along! With the exclusion of front downforce, the R35s are all ruled out from the competition, so it is all left to the NSXs and LFAs to fight it out! It's a conspiracy! :dopey: But a good one. :P

The fish has his 520 R-34 listed with no front downforce. Is that accurate or should it read 2 front downforce?

Well, I just checked this afternoon (Thank god…), it's only the R35 that has the front aero, all the others are…clean, if you like.

Believe it is only the R35 that has the non adjustable front downforce stock. There may be a couple of special editions of the earlier GT-Rs that have some form of front downforce but I'm not sure.

None of the dealership Skyline GT-R's have front downforce. So no worries for anyone looking to use those.

R34 - 0/3-8 (adjustable stock)
R33 - 0/3-8 (adjustable stock)
R32 - 0/2 (non-adjustable stock)

This is the first GT-R that I have tuned in GT5. Is the GT-R Black Edition '12 (and one TC version) the only R35s in the game? What about the GT-R V-Spec '07?

My LFA is almost as fast, but not as rookie driver proof. Just wanted to play with a GT-R for once.

There's 5. The normal R35 '07, the SpecV '09, and the Black Edition, as well as the Prototype, and the Black Mask.

Do it. Kill all testers.

Every road-going R35 in the game has 2/2 downforce stock. That includes the '07, SpecV, '12, GT Academy, GT Academy Special and I would say the Black Mask and the Prototypes too.

The LFA is lethal. The raising rear spoiler, it does nothing!

I pretty much hate all of the 4wd cars in the game. I was looking at this as an opportunity to force myself to get better at tuning a 4wd. Give the GT-R a try. I was able to make some big improvements in corner speed. I learned a ton.

Well then, you got something out of it, that's the most important thing. After all, the shootout is only the result of the tune, it's what you learn in the tuning process that matters.

And the fact that neither me or Roj have to deal with a R35 is just a bonus. Win-win for us all. :D

I'm only judging 490PP, I don't have to deal with anything except a truckload of GT86's.

I meant in the 550PP tuning sides. :P

And I think you'll find this a nice break from them, If you haven't seen it already.
