Wallbanger's 2nd Annual FF Summer Shootout

HeHeHe I know what you mean about old TVs and hard to read screens. Both the TVs I use are old with the one in my room being particularly bad. If I didn't know what most of the screens read by now I'd be going blind trying to read them they are so blurry.
The other TV I use isn't quite as bad but I have to sorhare it with mom and either move my PS3 or the TV neither of which is fun.

I moved, not to long ago, and do to personal things I had to restart my life. The only TV I could afford was a little one. No problem thou, I still can get my GT5 fun and enjoy the GTP world soooo my world is good 👍.

That's why this tuning forum is awesome. Punch in the numbers, and I feel like a driving God in my Dodge Challanger :).

I want to give my rl Legacy and 5k$ to Priano or ACSR and see what they could do.

@Ronald are you planning on doing an in depth retest on Laguna Seca like you did at Toscana?
Not complaining here either way, just curious since your current time with the "Katana" is a bit slower than I was getting...:odd: and we both know your way faster than me.

@Harvey: Yes, I plan on retesting after I go through some of the vehicles and making as extensive notes as I can. Like I said previously LSeca isn't my favorite track. You can count on my laps being consistent at least, consistently bad!

Nice driving Niku.👍👍

@Johnyboy way to sneak past me in Niku's testing at Laguna Seca.

Thanks, im surprised he turned that lap time with only 3 laps. Compliments to the tester for that. I hope we get some good in depth reviews and criticism before the finals im working on a slightly different tune now to just see how far i can push the car.

What kind of feedback would you like? I think I'll break most of my reviews into these points (for LSeca): entry, mid-, and corner exit; acceleration; front end grip; rotation; breaks; gears; feedback; balance and all around feel. I'm here to help you, anything I can do to give you better insight into your vehicle just let me know.

I think that would be amazin and probably would be all that im looking for. Ive never tuned something to be tested by someone else. So any feedback is great and suggestions are more than welcome.

Oh boy, the Idiot has the keys to your cars :dopey:

I'm Testing Class A, group 2...👍^^^how's that? :D

ABS-1 Three laps on each track

Laguna Saca

1:47.730 - MotorCityHami Suzuki Cervo SR '07
1:48.354 - Acsr421 Daihatsu Copen "D.T." '02
1:51.953 - LineR32 Kung PAO Micra '89
1:53.283 - NEWDRIVER2 BE-1 '87

Toscana

2:08.739 - MotorCityHami Suzuki Cervo SR '07
2:09.127 - ACSR421 Daihatsu Copen "D.T." '02
2:14.512 - NEWDRIVER2 BE-1 '87
2:14.810 - LineR32 Kung PAO Micra '89

Comments

ACSR421 - Daihatsu Copen "D.T." '02 - Very easy to drive. At Laguna it had miles of grip, mixed with acceleration. It is posible to push it too hard out of corners, but only if you miss the apex. At Toscana pull the hand brake and toss the car around. Not very good at this track, but had alot of fun.

trackripper123 - Daihatsu Copen Active Top '02
- I didn't like the feel of this car. It felt stiff and flat, and hard to drive... but look at the times, so it can't be that bad. Gearing is good, as is the LSD. I would have liked it more, if I wasn't fighting it around the track... but lap times tell the story :dopey:

NEWDRIVER2 - BE-1 '87 - Can't put my finger on why this felt slow . The handling is good, and very little understeer (which is great for a FF car) but it just felt slugish. Maybe the gearing, as it had no sence of speed... I'm not sure. It was a good car to drive, and felt very responsive, but it also felt like a slug at the same time. I may need to go back to this one to see what's what. Over all good 👍

LineR32 - Kung PAO Micra '89- A nice easy drive. You got the most you could out of this car... sadly the car does not offer much in the sence of speed and performance. Still a very good tune and a great car to drive... I like it 👍

MotorCityHami - Suzuki Cervo SR '07 - I have tuned two of these and I know how fun they can be. MotorCityHami has keep the fun alive. Great use of all seven gears, and very easy to drive. Even at Toscana, it felt good around the track. Very good tune :D

If any tuners want more feedback please ask. I am no reviewer, and when I try to explain how a car feels to me, it sometimes gets miss-understood. All tunes that I tried were very good, and I am always amazed what all of you can pull out of these cars. Great Job :dopey::cheers:

Uhm krenkme what Class is that and could you add in the cars for each tune.:odd::confused:

Oi, Desperado, when you bothering to start your tests? :P And was the tester deadline not the 24th?
I've been testing already just haven't posted any results yet.
If you look back a page or two you'll see I extended testing for the first round another week due to other things getting in the way for me and the hope that we might get a few more testers for at least some of the groups.:odd:

Eh, the thread moves too quickly when I'm not around. I might test for round 2 if you've planned one like with ToF, given that summer break is only a week away, but it is still a week away. I'll try to squeeze in the time though. 👍 Group A, this time, I'll try all, but no promises. And definitely no all nighters at the last day. ;)

Gonna send FR's to all tuners today. Please take sure that you accept them till friday (I won't be online during the next 3 days).

Thanks! :)

Niku Driver HC
Well, ladies and gents, welcome to the:

All Japan (In America) Wrestling Power Boards!

These are the times that I done so far with a few of the shootout cars. Remember, these boards are for Group B cars only! And furthermore, there are a few cars that haven't done laps yet, so this is NOT the final classification.

All cars were driven for a period of 3 laps, with Sports Hard (or Dirt, in case of Toscana) tires and Real grip changes.

Laguna Seca

1st: ACSR's Mazda Kusabi 1.44.290
2nd: Johnyboy532's Honda CR-Z 1.45.514
3rd: Harvey's Honda CR-Z 1.45.696
4th: Motor City Hami's Fiat 500 1.45.697
5th: trackripper123's Mazda Kusabi 1.45.786
6th: Onboy's Honda Jazz 1.46.171
7th: Mopar's Fiat 500 1.46.181

Toscana

1st: ACSR's Mazda Kusabi 2.00.519
2nd: Mopar's Fiat 500 2.00.900

I am very surprised and amazed that the car is doing that well 👍. Thanks for your time

Jack, what happened to your account?
Your cars are no longer on share.

My hdd got corrupt and I had to restore my ps3 back to factory settings, losing all data on the hdd.

I didnt realise the cars had gone off share and unfortunatley i do not have the car I entered so I cant even build another and put it on share.

I'll see if I can send you a car in a couple hours.👍👍

@Ronald6 I have OSE_CAP_SHADOW's cars on share.
Not sure what happened with the listings but I'll see about correcting them.:odd:

List fixed and Jackthalad just sent you a 0/0/0 Honda Ballade CR-X.
As a standard it shouldn't need a break in just Oil change and fitted with your tune, don't forget to buy dirt tires either.
Oh and hopefully your system doesn't eat this one as I don't currently have another I can send.:(

@Ronald6 (and other Test Drivers) TCS and all other Driver aids except ABS1and Driving Line are off for this Shootout. I'll be pulling OSE_CAP__SHADOW's cars off share to ensure that TCS is disabled but Test Drivers need to check their settings on all cars when entering tracks.

Settings for Laguna Seca should have Sports Hard Tires, TCS off, ABS1, Tire Wear/Fuel consumption off, Grip Reduction Real and damage off. Driving Line is optional.
As has been previously pointed out the game likes to switch cars back to their stock tires so it's important to double check the tires. Also it seems to have hiccups at times keeping TCS and ABS settings and seemingly at random will reset those to the default values of 5 so check them as well.

I make sure of all the settings twice, once in entering the track settings screen, and once again at track side in the options menu. As I have said before, I make sure that the PP of the cars are 430 when I load them, but I avoid going to the settings screen.

@Harvey:
It's not surprising that your times are better than mine. Your car has massive under-steer, which is probably suited to your style, but not mine. And... I'm driving as if GT Academy is placing cones in the corners. I'm barely touching the blue rumble strips and I scratch the lap if I touch dirt or pink rumble. This makes the corkscrew much more "interesting."

I also know the track better so your times are bound to improve on the retest.

I'm not really worried about my times was just surprised when you posted a slower lap time than me. I personally love the corkscrew in most of these cars. If you get your speed and angle right you should either just miss the left side rumble strip at the top turn in or barely clip it. Full throttle down through it with the right side hooking that big dip at the bottom to help you rotate through and your lined up perfectly and accelerating hard into the next left hander.:D Myself I find nailing the corkscrew and taking it full bore to be one of the most satisfying sections of any track. The only corner I truly despise on Laguna Seca is that last left hander onto the start/finish downhill, can't count the number of brilliant laps I've ruined there.

Onboy123:
Honda Jazz 1.4 (fit?):
1:44.757. 1:45.283. 1:45.852:
Very solid wheel, but bland through the entire turning range. Front grip is ok, but its hard to know when I'm about to slip. Gearing is ok, it doesn't bog, but are a bit long. Breaks are good, it has full range through the pedal, and they are predictable and consistent. Turn in and corner exit are not consistent because of the bland wheel. Perhaps a good car for a DS3? I'll never know.

Hmm……kinda surprising but then again not entirely. Bland wheel…I assume you mean a lack of feel/airy and light feeling from the steering? And it might have something to do with the DS3/Wheel thing, since my inputs on the DS3 are effectively no lock/full lock with not much in between, you might notice things I've not even felt.

The feel isn't light, it's heavy, just heavy all the way through.

Then it's lack of grip, really. The kind of setup its running should make it feel really floaty, that it doesn't and feels the contrary just means the Jazz is in need of grippier tyres for the tune, I suppose. Or, it means that I need to stop chucking my cars into corners since this kind of tune seems to loves this type of treatment.

As a driver I refuse to accept, "grippier tyres are needed." That usually means (again: from a drivers pov) that I need to adapt myself to the vehicle. I say this only to push you to increase your skill as a tuner. For a good tune SH are all that's needed, grippier tyres will only obfuscate the problems.

Unfortunately I have no idea how to increase the feel of the wheel. Perhaps camber and toe?

Calling all tuners: how would you increase the feel?
