Sorry had to go. Something happen to Carr and I had to dive left. Then his car just went left too pushing me clear into the sand. He then disconnected. Obvious connection issue. Not wanting to race 26 laps on Spa alone being 40 secs back before half of lap one. Said meh you guys surely understand. Off to make a mad dash for GTA. Seems futile but miracles happen.

Debby turned my power off, one second I'm racing, next second powers turned off and tropical storm warnings :grumpy:
Sorry that happened to you, I had my afternoon cleared just for this race.

No worries, I knew something wasn't right cause I should of been chasing you and praying to draft with you to the front. LoL that was plan anyway.

Ok just tried the Academy again, just don't have the desire to pound out laps. I do take my hat off to all those people that have spent hours upon hours. Dedication and tolerance for time trials. As well plain simply fast!

Ok, so our Spot races are over and I'm leaning towards tweaking the Vette a tad. Perhaps along the lines of reducing bhp to 722, and perhaps reduce the allowed DF from 35/60 to 33/58ish..

Reason why I think the Vette needs to be downgraded a tad is the fact that Tony was 35 seconds ahead of me at Indy, and 52 seconds ahead at Spa.
My fastest at Indy with the Vette was 0,6 off Tonys best in the Zonda.
And at Spa, I was 1,5 off (a lot, but the track is long) in the Zonda compared to Tony in the Vette.

I'm going to test this out properly on track ofc, but just throwing it out there for discussion/feedback. 👍

Transfered discussion from the Spot Race Thread that's now closed. Any further discussions regarding the ZR1 (US) vs Zonda R (EU) series should be kept here. 👍

So, as I said earlier.. I'm thinking that I'm going to slow the vette down a tad. Either thru cutting power, or by cutting DF.

So either cut it down to 722/712 bhp, or reduce the aero to 30/55.
Any suggestions?

I'm actually thinking we go the other way.
Add power and weight to the Zonda. That way we have some ballast to move forward to try and cut some of the rear tire wear issues. (or at least increase the front wear, the problem I was having is that they're just so uneven, the handling gets really tricky when the fronts are @ 60% and the rears are @ 30%)

I bought another Zonda without the rigidity++ that I've got to break in, so I was thinking about doing some testing tonight if anyone wants some short single-stint racing.

There's obviously something wrong with what I'm doing though. I ran 2:08.5 in quali and then in the race I dialed it back to 2:10 race pace and still had massive wear issues while you (dennis) were running much faster than me AND longer.

oh, I wouldn't take any aero off the vette. It's already down on the zonda and it's no fun policing spec aero.

Yes, perhaps.. But the lower weight actually help the wear for the Zonda imo.

About the Vettes aero.. I don't judge the numbers in the settings meny, I judge the ability to go thru turns.. And as it seems (I will do proper testing later on), the Vette is much more stable thru the turns.
But I agree that reducing aero is not optimal.

At around what time do you plan to get on?
I'll might be able to join if it's not too late..

I just ran an 11 lap with the no-rigidity at indy ... you should just ban that. The wear is a ton better without it. It has less mechanical grip so its harder to drive in general but it doesn't chew through the rears as quickly. I was able to still do consistent 1:30 on laps 10 and 11 @ indy.

Tried it again with a better setup and ran low 1:26's early then 1:27's from lap 4-9 before it started to drop off. But it's no where near as "cliff like" as with the extra chassis stiffening.

Gave it a whirl @ 30kg of ballast @ -33 (which is where I assume the front axle is) and 729hp (since it's an even step in the menu) So 729/1100
car is rock stable with the weight on the nose even though it only shifts the balance by 1%

I don't have a vette to run it against but I'd recommend giving it a try. My lap times at indy went up a bit but I didn't tune out the extra understeer the weight gives it (I had to remove the front bias on the brakes from 6/4 to 5/5 while driving). Tire wear seemed pretty much the same; the fronts do wear more since they red-out sooner but I suspect the extra power cancels any wear benefit... Which leads us back to tinkering with the vette.

But fyi if you want to make the zonda "easier to drive" the ballast at -33 gives a hell of a lot of stability...

maybe only give it enough extra weight so that it shifts the weight bias 1% (that's probably less than the 30kg I tried)?

Thanks Tim! Really interesting stuff there! 👍

I'm going to get on in a few hours and do some proper testing.
Glad you found a way to reduce the wear.
I'm going to ban the Ridgity Improvement for the Zonda even though it's not policeable.. Cheating will be punishment enough.

Let me know when you go online Dennis, i might be around to join you.

Dr's approach seems the best way to go. But i could test the 2 cars back to back to see exactly what needs to be tweaked.

Ok Marco.. Yes, you and Doc are probably right.

I'll get on in 40ish minutes from this post. Just need to sort some stuff out at home before I go on-line.
Would be awesome if you were able to join and help with the final tweaks for the cars. 👍

I'll post room number here when it's up: CLOSED

EDIT: Good test session.
Results will be presented in 30 minutes. Stay tuned..

Reflections:
I tested both cars for 1 hour each around Suzuka.
Both cars are very similar in pace (as you can see from the test results), but still different to drive.
Tyre wear was also very similar.
If I could go any faster, I'd say that would be in the ZR1. But imo, we've reached parity with these specs. Cause now, I feel we're down to splitting hairs.
I'd say that, in a perfect lap with 90%< fuel, I could go perhaps 2/10ths faster with both cars.. Perhaps 3/10ths with the ZR1.. Splitting hairs.. As I said..

During the acceleration and top speed tests at Route X, I used this gearing (both cars):
Acceleration: 330 km/h
Top Speed: 400 km/h

These specs are not final until I've collected enough feedback from you guys, so please, try the cars out at these specs and have a say. 👍

Iam there guys this thursday.
With the corvette zr1.
We drive Suzuka and Route X??

No IMMORTAL, you got it all wrong.
We're trying to sort out what specs to use.. 👍

First pre-season race will most likely be in the end of July or beginning of August.

Proposed schedule:

Pre-Season:
1. Twin-Ring Motegi Road Course

Let's start in the US, then head west to Japan, and finish in EU.

1. Indianapolis Road Course
2. Daytona Road Course/Laguna Seca Raceway?
3. Suzuka Circuit (No Weather)
4. Twin-Ring Motegi Road Course
5. LaSarthe 2009 (Time/No Weather)
6. Monza (No Weather)/Monaco/Nuburgring GP/F/Nordschleife/24h/Or any eventual DLC?
7. Circuit Spa-Francorchamps (No Weather)

Sounds good?

Perhaps start a race with 80% surface weather, but leave out the possibility for additional rain?

I agree on that. Only reason I had Daytona as option is the power of the cars.. 719 bhp @ Seca.. :scared:

To get 719 HP with the Zonda does that include the mid range turbo kit? My Zonda isn't broken in yet but although I don't see it listed it seems like the only way it would fit the numbers.

Only the mods listed. 👍

But you make me insecure.. I'll double check once I get back home to morrow.

My mistake, I think you are correct. I had purchased it previously and only had 12 miles on it but had not given it an oil change I guess. I just did one and the HP jumped around 40. I've never seen an initial oil change change the HP that much so I guess I figured the numbers would be too low unless a turbo was added. Now I just have to break it in and I think it will have the regs you posted.👍

Ok, just got back from my holiday, and will begin to get this series up and running by mid August.

So I have a few things to bring up for discussion that needs to be sorted.

1. Race times:
The poll result is too weak to bring in to the equation.
So this is what I had in mind.
Saturday:
Connect Time: 7.00 AM GMT (8.00 AM BST, 9.00 AM CET)
Green Flag: 8.00 AM GMT (9.00 AM BST, 10.00 AM CET)

Races will be from 1-1,5 hours.

I understand that these times are tough for guys in the US, but since it's Friday night, it's not entirely impossible.
One thing that really concerns me is if my mate Tim (Dr_Watson) can make it.
Tim, please state what times you could push it to in order for me to tweak the time as much as possible.
Eddie, you have Fridays off IIRC, but would love if you could state what times would suite you.
Same goes for all US PST guys I know.. Rees, Dom comes to mind.. Speak up guys.
I'd also like to listen to the EU guys, and hear if 8-9-10 in the morning is doable.
And as I stated earlier, I'd love to see some AUS/NZ drivers as well. But I guess the time is pretty much ok.. Saturday afternoon/evening. 👍
Neomone? ;)

Further, I'd like some feedback on the cars. Marco?
The specs listed in the OP and a few posts up is up to date. 👍

Races will be held every 2 weeks. Proposed schedule will be up soon.

Jason (R1600Turbo) is helping me with the logo, and the stats, tables, sign ups etc will be on the PURE site where Tim runs the show.

I'm hoping the thread will be up within a week or two, with a pre season race in the end of July/beginning of August to get the procedures etc nailed down.

Any ideas, suggestions, feedback are more than welcome.

As for the specs I'll do some testing today ,i'll be online around 17:00 GMT. Hopefully you or any other can join.

As for racing Saturday morning, i'm cool with it.

I'll might be able to join for an hour! 👍

Edit: Sorry, can't make it.. Gf is sick so I need to take care of her.. Will stay tuned here to read about your opinions later on Marco. 👍

I'm PST so this time is perfect for me (11:00pm - 1:00am).
I would like to sign up even tho I'm not sure when the 1st race is? I'm already registered with pure if that helps?

Yea, it's perfect that you're already signed up on the PURE site. That's where all results and stuff go up. 👍

Yes, it's doable for you PST guys.. I was mostly concerned about the EST guys.. Like Tim (Dr_Watson/TnJF) and Jeff (OwensRacing).. But it looks like we have to stay on the proposed time.. Cause I can't push it more.. 7.00 AM GMT is the earliest Connect time I can pull off.. Can start the race at 7.30 AM GMT.. Not before that.

Thread will be up within a week.
Pre-season race scheduled for end of July/beginning of August.. 1st race will be in the middle of August.. And every other weekend for 10-12 weeks (6-7 races).

Some details are in the OP. 👍

If im converting times correctly we are talking about 2am est start times. I'd be a zombie and a rolling roadblock at this hour. LoL

Unfortunately looking like I'll have to pass on the series.

Yes, I know Jeff.. :(

Unfortunetly, I'm not able to host the races on any other time slot for now..

I got a room up now if anyone want to join..
