Also, the HSV now has SIDE EXHAUSTS! If you're familiar with the HSV, since it's iteration it has ran a central rear exhaust...

I hope that doesn't mean it loses that distinctive scream that its had..

This is actually pretty significant as to my Knowledge, Honda has never had its GT500 machine with side exhausts before.

It's a very big change. It will save weight as the exhausts are closer to the engine, and they will probably reposition the radiators to the side.

Honda confirmed this is the last year of the HSV as they will switch to the NSX in 2014.

Really? I thought GT500 only allowed Front engined cars because of some rule changed that basically outlawed mid-engine cars (well, thats what I heard anyway),

2014 is DTM regulation unification. The cars will decrease in weight from 1100kg to 1000kg. Downforce will probably be increased and engine regulation will be 2.0 turbo 4's like Formula Nippon. That's the engine they share with currently. NSX will probably receive some weight handicap or negative BOP because of the MR layout. That's what they did with it before when it raced years ago.

Lol good luck to the Super GT folk that have to regulate the new NSX. As with new racing technology, their are ways to get around the regs and do it like a ninja.

Doesn't Super GT have a habit of brand new cars thoroughly punishing the opposition until management slaps on a ridiculous amount of ballast?

Umm that ARTA HSV dont have the side exaust. Is it an old config with just the new livery ?

Probably. If that HSV with the new exhaust is just plain black, it's probably just a prototype or demo model. So the old-spec cars are being shown for creative purposes effectively.

What're you talking about? I'm confused. The 2014 regulations change, that means everyone will have a new car, not just Honda and their NSX 👍

Yes that's the 2012 car with the updated livery. Teams haven't introduced their 2013 cars yet.

At this year's Honda Motorsport press conference, they've announced that 2013 Super GT will be the last season for the HSV-010, which will be replaced with the new NSX, 2014 onwards. Here's the link,
Skip to 14:52, which the announcement is made.

Correction, freshseth83...Formula Nippon is currently using 3.4l V8s, and is provided by Toyota and Honda. On the new NSX, you're spot on...unless Honda will race the hybrid FR NSX that they tested many moons ago, albeit with a new facelift. Here's the video,

Already have one in the GT300 ranks under the Subaru guise. For GT300 I think Toyota should place the new IS in that category.

I personally think it's either a new 2014 LF-A (still on the drawing boards at Toyota) or based on the new SC replacement model (LF-LC I think) for the GT500.

As for Honda ditching the HSV...well that was quick.

It's no longer in production, that would be silly from a marketing standpoint

The NSX went 4 years in Super GT after it went out of production. The SC430 is on its 3rd year since going out of production.

I just really wish the HSV went into production :(

Is the 2014 season the first year of the new rules package shared with DTM? How is a Mid-engine'd car going to fit into that?

I told you, car specific BOP. Remember that the original NSX was handicapped with a 50kg minimum weight increase (1100kg to 1150kg).

We have not had a conversation about Super GT NSX's before, so no, you didn't.

It's actually the right information. They currently use the 3.4liter V8's, but in the future (2014) they will use the same engines as SuperGT- the 2.0 liter turbo 4's.

 Please, do keep up. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=8102885#post8102885
