Finally finished my "promo" style video for this series. I could have definitely spent some more time on it and really get it better, but I just don't have time right now. No matter, I hope you all enjoy it!

Dont forget to watch it in its 1080p gloriousnous!!! :sly:

Nice promo video Paul. 👍 👍

This one is definitely going in the OP!

Man, that sure looks like it was a lot of fun! I'll try to make the next one.

We'll be running this format again probably on March 2nd as next weekend is going to be focused on the 2.4 hour Enduro and support races at Daytona. We'll post the combo at least 7 days ahead to give everyone enough time to pick and configure their car of choice.

In the meantime if you want more of this type of racing go and visit the DeadNutsEven thread. They have an event on Monday Feb 18th and put out the welcome mat to any WRS drivers who want to join their races.

Driver Registration
*Drivers can register for either or both time slots.

Parity Formula (courtesy of DeadNutsEven Racing)

We'll publish a track, target time, max speed and tire compounds. The current specs:

  • Track: Autodromo Nationale Monza
  • Target Time: 2'00.750
  • Max Speed: 265 kph / 165 mph (your speed should not exceed this at the end of the longest straight, and you should not hit the rev-limiter)
  • Tire: Sports Hard (Use a softer compound if you cannot obtain the target time without going over the max speed)
  • Car Choice: Any European Car

Your job is to choose any car in the game and set it up any way you like until you can just reach, but not exceed the target time using our online specs (listed below), but be sure to run online with tire wear / fuel consumption set to off. The tire compound specified is the primary option and is a reasonable target for D2-D3 drivers. If you are having a hard time achieving the target lap time without exceeding the max speed then you can use a tire one compound softer. If you are D1 and/or alien driver you can use a tire one compound harder to achieve your result.

You can:
  • Use a car stock (but please break it in and change oil so your power is constant)
  • Use a fully tuned car (any parts as long as you meet the requirements)
  • Use ballast or power limiter to fine tune your achievable times
  • Use a clutch and any shifter (as long as you use it when you set your times)
  • Use any view (cockpit, etc. as long as you use it to set your times and as long as you can drive safely and maintain situation awareness)
  • Use ABS (or not) -- as long as you use the same settings to achieve the target time

You will have to put some practice time in to get consistent with the car/track and fine tune your setup as you improve and approach the target time. We may even organize a few of these session prior to the event, but for now just post to this thread if you want to use the lounge for practice and invite others to join. If you don't prepare enough and are still on a steep part of your learning curve when you show up for the event you are likely to improve significantly during the race and create an imbalance. We will have some procedures to correct that during an event, but the more prepared you are the better the racing will be for everyone.

Feel free to use this thread to discuss the best approach to converging on the best specs for you. Choose a car that you can be consistent with. If you have trouble with consistency choose an easier handling car or opt for the softer compound. The idea is for everyone to have a shot at a win and be able to negotiate traffic safely.

Once you have a car and spec picked you can sign up for the event and use the registration form in the 3rd post. You'll be asked some details about the car and specs. You can update your specs at any time by filling out the registration form again. If you are interested and want to save your car choice for later just put in TBD in the fields. This will help us get an advanced measure of interest for any event.

Event Settings
  • Game Mode: Normal Race
  • Laps: Two 10 minute sprints (5 laps) + two 20 minute features (10 laps)
  • Start Type: Grid Start
  • Grid Order: Race 1 - Fastest First | All Other - Reverse Grid Based On Previous Race Results
  • Boost: No
  • Slipstream strength: Weak
  • Penalty: Off
  • Automatic Race Start Cycle: Disabled
  • Race Finish Delay: Set to the max 180 secs

  • Visible Damage: Off
  • Tire Wear / Fuel Consumption: Off
  • Skid Recovery Force | Active Steering | ASM: Disabled
  • TCS | Driving Line | ABS: Optional
  • Pits: Closed

Standard Clean OLR Rules Apply:
  • Unless otherwise specified, all rules from the original WRS event apply.
  • You are expected to drive clean at all times as if you are racing in the WRS. All participants are required to follow the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules & Guidelines.
  • 3D3 Race Stewards (who are taking part in race, but will review the replay) reserve the right to kick out or invalidate the result of any driver from the Race Room for driving offensively. If you ignore any warnings from the stewards and are kicked out of the race room, you will not be allowed to participate in future 3D3 events.
  • Contact with walls should be avoided. Wall riding/bouncing to gain time will be penalized and/or can result in disqualification.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track including green painted concrete.
  • Limit your contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • Passing and Blocking: Aggressive blocking is not permitted, but the driver in front has the right to choose his/her line and braking point and drivers behind should respect that line. These events are "for fun" so just play nice and take a conservative rather than an aggressive approach when possible.

Stewards Notes:
By popular demand we're going to offer a "re-run" of the Saturday parity races on Sunday for those who cannot make the Saturday festivities. Of course, the Saturday participants are welcome to run again on Sunday if they didn't get enough of the action. 👍 We are going to experiment with a few different time slots for Sunday so please give us your feedback. The Saturday time slot seemed pretty popular so we're going to stick with 22:00 GMT until further notice.

Good Luck, OLR Team:gtplanet:

European cars, fantastic! Will probably wait until the enduro this weekend before working on this one though. Didn't even find time for last weeks TT which is a shame. So much to do!!! :D

Will try some practice laps with this combo before I commit. But it is definitely a good time slot for me, on the Saturday.

I'll be in again for the Saturday.

Is there any qualms with joining a bit later for the Sunday ones? I may not be around for the first race but the others should be fine.

Nice one! I really like the Sunday timeslot. Will have to test out some cars, looking forward to that.

No that's fine, especially if you run Saturday and your car specs are fine tuned already.

Registered for saturdays race. Thats a definate. Will have to wait until its a bit closer to confirm the sunday one as work may intervene. They like doing that ;)

Running with the Italian theme, as I call dibs on the Lancia Delta Integrale :P

Really? I was thinking of that one, almost sure no-one else would pick it. Funny!

Not hard to find a nice motor for these; harder to choose....

AARGH! The shop stock is just too big to make a choice just like that. :ill:

Ha. yeah ^

Though I've decided to use the "rarer" used cars for these races, ones with specific colours etc, otherwise they just sit in my garage getting no love.

Going with the Lamborghini Countach '74, bone stock. Fits the combo perfectly, and its fun to drive.

Sjaak I see you've gone with the Nissan GT-R. This event is limited to European cars only :).

How is it possible I missed that?,

Anyway,of to go for a new search.(Damn, I really liked the GTR's handeling.):)

I have to test my Ferrari in the draft... I may have to install a custom tranny if it hits the limiter. It's fine solo, but not too much room to play.

I'm going to be hard pressed to get the target without a few minor upgrades (drivetrain)... But the goal is to keep it stock. After the enduro I'll shift focus to this and see if I can find 3 tenths with better driving first.

Will hold some organized practice next thurs and Friday.

:dunce: The Ferrari California has 7 gears. Lots of room for draft! I don't know how many cars in the game have 7 gears, but it can't be many. Basically, can't get to it unless I'm in the draft so I have a 6 speed with overdrive. :sly:

Can't recall, but the Lexus IS-F has 8!

Veyron has 7, BMW M5 has 7, 458 Italia has 7, F1 cars have 7... did I forget one? :dopey:

Think there's a couple more as well, but the GT by Citroën Road and Race Variants have 7. The concept has none ;-)

The RB X cars, too.
