I finally managed Gold in London and Eifel. Many thanks to Outlaw for his tune, advice and encouragement.

I made some changes so here is Outlaws tune as adapted by me.

I found the Transmission settings were ideal and the car would drift without my losing the back end. It behaved nicely under braking and turned into corners well. Finally, I really don't like Eifel! Did I mention this before????

I think the tune from byegad was from before the latest update that radically changed the output for the same pp. You'll have to make some adjustments if you want to use it 👍

Seems that folks are having difficulties with Indy post update as a result of the reversed position on PP. I decided to have another go with my old car to see what changes were necessary just to win the race. So here's an updated tune.

New car (Eunos Roadster NA special package '89) from NCD, No oil change, No aero, Std wheels

All weight reduction except windows ( do not add chassis reinforcement)
Engine stage 3
Racing Exhaust
All suspension, transmission and drive-train upgrades

200 Ballast @ Pos 38 to give 47:53 weight distribution
Engine output 96.4%
150bhp, Weight 1041kg, 380pp

Suspension:
-10 -10
5.8 6.5
4 4
3 3
3 3
Camber and Toe:
2.0 1.5
-0.15 +0.10
LSD:
9/11/8
Brake Bal:
7/6

Gears:
Hit default, set max speed to 112mph (all the way to the left) then set each gear as follows;

2: 2.528

4: 1.601
5: 1.335
F: 2.822 ( should give max speed of 160mph)

The final gear setting is for the Indy course only so you will need to dial it back for the other tracks ( see previous post for deatils ) . I've ran the race 4 times and either gain 1st on the back straight in the last lap or as late as the final corner but it's still a comfortable win.

Note: YOU MUST DRAFT! After the first lap the cars split into packs and you must use the draft from each pack to slingshot up to the next to gain the draft again. If you fail to do this it will be a tough win.

Does this tune include the Carbon hood? (I added it to my car as you said "All weight reduction except windows")

I only get 149HP, not 150HP and at a different engine output percentage but still at the 380pp max requirement.

5th Gear only goes to 1.290 and cannot be set to 1.335 as stated in your tune.

My car was bought brand new from the NCD, is not fully broken in, and no matter what I do I still can only get 3rd. I'm driving cleanly and drafting every single car I can. I am so frustrated! I'm not even bothering with the other races in the series because if I cannot get this one then it simply won't matter.

Is there any way you could run this race and make a video of it? I don't care if it's just a crappy cell phone video of the screen I just need to see it done to see what I'm doing wrong. If you do, would you make sure to get the line up so I can see which pack of cars you're racing against.

Thanks for the tune, it's gotten me farther than any other I've tried. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I didn't run this Seasonal race back in the heady days of v2.10, so I've decided to give this a try under the new v2.11 PP model. After testing a few of the Miata's in my garage, I decide to start from scratch with a brand new car.

So I head off to the Mazda dealership and purchase a Mazda Eunos Roadster J-Limited NA '91.

I hop into the Roadster and drive over to the Tuning Shop to drop some coin on all the go-fast parts that they still have from 1991.

Its a very long list:

With a maxed out credit card, I head to the Seasonal races to win back some money before the bill from the credit card company is due.

The first step though is to reduce the car's PP value since all the above parts have pushed the PP value over 380.

So I have my crack pit-crew add some ballast, we decide upon 142kg's, and I have my pit-crew install this ballast in the rear to help my Roadster make the turns at Indy! My Eunos Roadster's PP value is still too high, so I adjust the P.Limiter to 93.9% which gives me a PP value of 380, the desired result.

My Eunos Roadster now has the following spec's:

Horsepower: 155
Weight: 1025
PP value: 380

Its now time for my crack pit-crew to earn their salaries, so they go to work on the Eunos Roadster and come up with the following tune:

Ride height: -8/-8
Springs: 6.0/6.2
Extension: 4/5
Compress: 3/4
Anti-roll bars: 2/3
Camber: 1.8/1.4
Toe: -0.05/+0.05
LSD: 8/16/8
Brakes: 4/4
Transmission: First ADJ top speed to 112, then Final to 3.250. This should give you a top speed of 150mph.

Its now time to hit the track!

Since this tune is only for Indy, we do not need any brakes, so set the ABS to "off" in the driving options, and TC should also be set to "off".

As to the lineups, I have found that the first two lineups (after a game reset) are the easiest.

Lineup # 1 has the following cars in the first four positions, and is beatable with the above tune:
1) Roadster 1600 NR-A NB '04
2) MX-5 NA '89
3) MX-5 1800 RS NB,J '00
4) MX-5 J-Limited NA,J '91

However, I have found that lineup # 2, is slightly easier, so I recommend it for your first attempt. Lineup # 2 has the following cars in the first four positions:

1) Eunos Roadster NA Special Package '89
2) Roadster 1600 NR-A NB '04
3) MX-5 Miata NA '89
4) MX-5 NA '89

The race:
-----------
1st pass) Draft past the 11th place car on the back straight (usually on the right-side, sqeezing between the wall and the 11th place car, which allows you to catch the draft of the 10th place car)
2nd pass) Lift-off the accelerator slightly to pass the 10th place car on the inside, going into turn # 3 (I am lifting off the accelerator to help get my Miata to turn since you need to pass the 10th place car without any loss of speed. With a slightly better tune, this might not be necessary)
3rd pass) Draft past the 9th place car on the front-straight at the end of lap # 1
4th/5th pass) Lift-off the accelerator slightly to pass the 8th place and 7th place cars on the inside of turn # 1
6th pass) Pass the 6th place car going into turn # 3
7th pass) Pass the 5th place car coming out of turn # 4
8th pass) Draft past the 4th place car on the front-straight
9th pass) Pass the 3rd place car going thru turn # 2
10th pass) Draft past the 2nd place car going into turn # 3
11th pass) Drive past the 1st place car going thru turn # 3 or # 4 (depending on how well you've drafted).
Drive up the front straight with the lead and cross the S/F line after a race time between 3:26.000 and 3:26.5 with a comfortable lead.

Collect your race winnings with enough left over to cover your credit card bill.

Apologies for not replying sooner but hopefully the following will help. Here is a replay of the win at Indy (PAL Replay) You can download this and use it to see how I ran the race for the win using the 89 Miata.

I re-configured another car to test the set-up and you're correct there were a couple of errors. I forgot that I had put different rims on the other car and that changed the gear ratio's and as you pointed out you can only get 149bhp.

The following screen shot will help resolves the errors but please ignore the max speed on the picture. Don't know why but this value is always incorrect when viewing the setting sheet

This may seem like I'm trying to be funny but drive a little faster! The race has become tougher since the revision to the PP system but it's still a very winnable race. There is a link to a replay in my post prior to this one. Download it and see how I won the race.

The other thing is to make sure you turn ALL of your aids off. You can't turn off SRF but everything else should be off, you can even run 0 ABS although this won't make much difference as you won't be using your brakes anyway. Use manual gear change, the only shift you do is mid way through the first turn when you shift from 4th to 5th and that's it. From then on you are prety much hard on the gas for the rest of the race.

Stay away from the walls, don't hit any other cars and DRAFT, DRAFT, DRAFT!

Edit: If you are NTSC then that replay will not run, sorry! I'll post a video in a day or so.

Yah, just found this out myself after a bit more research. Hopefully these standards will be a thing of the past soon as TVs are now more Monitor with integrated computer than TV. The PAL/NTSC encoding issue along with Regional encoding has long been my nemesis. There were many console games we've wanted over the years that were only Japanese or PAL which made them a nightmare to use. Getting them is easy enough, getting them to work is something all together different.

Where on the Indy track are you having problems?

Are you hitting the other cars in the turns or are you having problems catching the draft from the other cars?

Are you using Argon's tune with the '89 Roadster or my tune with the '91 Roadster?

Are you running against lineup # 1 or lineup # 2 as I have recommended?

The Indy race is surprisingly hard since we don't have the v2.10 PP advantage that PD originally gave us, but as Argon says, its eminently winable (against some of the lineups). I have now won the race at least 20 times with a variety of cars, including Argon's '89 Roadster as shown above.

Yah, just found this out myself after a bit more research. Hopefully these standards will be a thing of the past soon as TVs are now more Monitor with integrated computer than TV. The PAL/NTSC encoding issue along with Regional encoding has long been my nemesis. There were many console games we've wanted over the years that were only Japanese or PAL which made them a nightmare to use. Getting them is easy enough, getting them to work is something all together different.

I apologise for just how dire the quality of this video is but it's a complete run through of the race with bumper cam view and afterwards a replay with chase cam view.

The things you may notice are that I try to be as smooth as I can with direction changes so I avoid scrubbing too much speed off. Picking your line through the corners is crucial as is picking up tows by drafting when you can.

I ran this race with a DS3 controller but if you are a wheel user then the advantage should be with you as you can be a lot more precise with the steering inputs.

I was on holiday when this came out, so I couldn't do it when it was easy (2.10)

This worked great. Had the most trouble with London

Thanks for the video and don't worry about the quality as it shows what's needed. It's also far better than many videos I've seen. Does anyone have any post 2.11 tunes for this event. I've managed to get gold for Indy, Suzuka and Eiffel but i'm struggling on London (bronze) and Trial Montain (silver). I've used Motor City Hami's tune and tweaked it to suit me but i've hit a brick wall with these last two races.

The one I posted earlier on the previous page is a 2.11 tune that seems to be working. You'll need to adjust the final gear to get the right speed for those tracks but otherwise it should work. 👍

If you'd rather use Motor city's tune then fire him a message to ask what adjustments are needed.

Sorry, i didn't realise it was a 2.11 tune. I'll give it a go and see how i do. To be honest i'll try anything to complete this event and stop pulling my hair out!!

I also have big problems with London, at best I'm 8 seconds behind the leader, probably something's wrong with my transmission settings, if someone has a good replay of how to do it, please upload it, thanks in advance.

I used the 89 special package from the NCD and tuned it out at 340pp for all the races except London where I had to bump it up to 350 to win.

I tried the tune from Motor City but it just wasn't working for me so I came up with this that seemed to work better for me;

New car from NCD, No oil change, No aero, Std wheels

All weight reduction ( do not add chassis reinforcement)
All engine and intake upgrades (no turbo)
All exhaust upgrades
All drivetrain and suspension upgrades

The gear setting is for the Indy course only so you will need to dial it back for the other tracks. To win @ Indy you MUST draft the other cars whenever possible even if it's just for a few seconds. You should be up with the leading pack at the end of the 2nd lap and take the lead car going down the back straight on the last lap.

You do NOT need to brake at Indy, a very slight lift off the gas as you enter each turn will allow you to power through at full throttle.

At Indy, the first 4 cars Always break away, it never changes. Bloody annoying.....

Thanks for the setup, Argon! Indy became extremely difficult after the last updates but your settings made it easy. I also had a lot of fun in London, since you really have to drive on the limit there with so little power available.

I thought this Seasonal was almost at tough as that darn Lambo one.

What helped me though was dropping the ride height into the weeds (-20). For some reason, that always seems to give me that little extra edge on the tough races.

I also upped my final gear in London to 4.200. Just to let her top out more. It seemed like my Miata was happier screaming at the higher RPM's and letting the tires slide a bit.
