Off the top of my head you're missing the Art Morrison Vette. Thoughts on the '62 Buick Special? Do the Rufs actually count as tuner cars? I know we've seen them in some "production" car only events before. I think we can swing those either way to be honest.

RUF's are open to debate, but my argument would be the more cars to choose from the better really...

I think two classes will be needed, I know the HKS CT230R is pushing 580-600PP whereas some of the others like the Gran Turismo 350Z are languishing at around 480PP.

I can get almost all cars into two classes with unlimited use of ballast and power limiter.

575PP & 490PP

Two cars just don't fit anywhere. Spoon CR-Z with max PP of 459 and Spoon Integra Type R with max pp of 463.

Well, I have narrowed my list down to five cars at 575PP and four cars at 490PP. That is the sign of a good shootout, nine cars that you really want to drive.

I think I will post this one in the next few days with a May 5 tuner deadline. That should leave enough space for the no ABS testing to wrap up (though I'm not sure from the first page of that thread, who entered and who's testing?). Plus, that gives everyone three weeks to play with these awesome cars.

Who's interested?

me
trackripper
etc.

You know my biggest problem with this shootout? A lot of the tuner cars are premium, I don't have time to break them in.

Think you'll have to ditch the two Spoons sadly. They lie too far outside the range.

:odd:...💡 is that a challenge? :dopey:

With the time you are giving (things a bound to settle down in real life, right?), I will be up for this :dopey:

I don't actually know of anyone who's testing in the no ABS shootout. I can't do it - driving ABS takes too much time to relearn and forget old braking habits. It might mean I lose other habits that are helping me go fast.

And as for this new Tuner car shootout sounds exciting, I shall definitely test for this one. What tires for 575PP and 490PP SS and SH? Or something else?

I glanced at a few of the no ABS tunes and they seem pretty much in line with the way those tuners normally approach tuning except for lower brake balance. I think they were looking for a whole different approach from the tuning garages, but we've spent months and months tuning one way and ten days to tune doesn't give us much time to adjust to the no ABS craft.

As for the Tuner Car shootout:
575PP on Sport Soft
490PP on Sport Hard

I looked through some of the cars last night and these tuner cars seem to come from the dealership with these tires. Just thought we'd start there?

I've never tune any of my no ABS cars in a special way to fit to no ABS driving.
For me a good car well balanced with ABS on is still the same very good car no ABS.
The rest is brake balance ,drivings skills and training only.

That's what you thought all along, and I agree - you've all been tuning with ABS for 2+ years, it's a bit silly to think that that will change now.

As for the tires, yes that's what I thought - even better that they're already on the cars. Are all of your cars from the shortlist that you were thinking of from the Premium dealership? Not that it would matter, I think. Just wondering.

The only difference between my ABS:0 NSX and my ABS:1 NSX is that the 0 needed a few minor tweaks to increase stability under braking. You know, the thing that ABS:1 secretly does for you. But beyond that, pretty much the same car.

I think I adjusted pretty quickly to having no ABS. I guess it helps when you know your car inside and out. :embarrassed:

I made no changes to my RGT tune apart from the brake balance. Why try and fix something that wasn't broken? :P

^Yeah, that.

I'm supposed to be testing for that thing but haven't gotten to it just yet. I've found from my testing with an untuned Evo at similar PP that my driving didn't actually change, I just need to be more precise with my inputs to avoid smoke clouds. As these guys above said, not much needs to be done from a "normal" ABS tune to change it for not having ABS.

The conclusion I can draw from this is that the no-ABS crowd has difficulty finding tunes that work because of tuner skill. Some, like me I'm sure, will tune a car until it runs well but there are still problems hiding behind the tires (seriously, you don't need R3s on a Civic of any kind....) and various settings that don't work well together but are OK to an ABS driver because of the forgiving nature of ABS. Turn it off and the real good tunes don't care but those not tuned well or correctly will suffer.

It was brought up in the shootout and here as well, but a good tune shouldn't need any major adjustments other than brake balance. Similarly, good driving habits should also carry over from ABS to no ABS and vice versa. It's the same way you would graduate up from a Cappucino to an MX5 to a ZR1. It's just a matter of refinement.

No. Only two of the nine that I like are premium. I haven't driven any yet, but I do like the way a lot of them look. Don't know if I want to do another S2000, but there sure are plenty to choose from. Really want to use something that I haven't driven yet, like one of the Nismo cars.

Where did the perception come from that all of the tuner cars are premium. It looks more like 60% standards to me?

If they were all Premium, I would have to pull out unless someone could send me the cars broken in... So as things stand, that's a good thing.

Okay, just wondered. Was no impression of a Premium bias at all. Just thought because there are so many premium tuner cars, I thought there would a fair number in the shootout, that's all.

So MCH, when is this Tuner car Challenge going to happen? Would love to get in on it.

I was thinking about giving tuners some time to test. There are some really cool cars on the list. Would be nice for everyone to get to try a few. I am also getting ready for my summer Spec Miata race season to start at the end of May, so I will have less time to play GT5 starting very soon.

Thinking tunes due May 5th. If people post early, testing could start May 1. I don't think I will have time to test drive in May so others will need to step up to help. The car list is awesome, so finding willing test drivers shouldn't be too difficult.

I think I will post this event today?

draw up a car with so many credits and may not premiun pass three questions.. velocidades.motor.ou turbo suspension or take weight of the car would be interesting. say something along those lines.💡

I will try to translate. Motor limit, suspension limit and weight limit for less than maximum credits. Roj do you want to run that one? Or someone else?

I think it might be interesting to say anything goes for under $100,000? That includes car, tires and upgrades.
