The Open-Wheel Shoot Out involves using one Open-Wheel type car for each weekly event; run on 3 different tracks. Each combo will include a 2-4 timed lap qualifying session followed by a 15 minute race. We should be done by 10:30pm Eastern. This series is open to all drivers. Joining S.N.A.I.L. and running the Division Placement Time Trial is not mandatory.

Possible cars that may be picked in random order:

F2007
F10
FGT
X2010
X2011
Plymouth Prowler
Caterham
Karts (all)
Tank Car
Suzuki GSX-R/4 Concept
Missing anything?

Prizes:

1st Place Picks next weeks car (must be changed)
2nd Place picks new track #1
3rd Place picks new track #2
4th place picks new track #3

Tracks are picked after car selection has been made.

The Modified "Perfect 100" Point System

Finish / Points
  1. 32 points
  2. 30 points
  3. 28 points
  4. 26 points
  5. 24 points
  6. 22 points
  7. 20 points
  8. 18 points
  9. 16 points
  10. 14 points
  11. 12 points
  12. 10 points
  13. 8 points
  14. 6 points
  15. 2 points
  16. 2 point

Since we have three races during the course of the night, the maximum number of points that can be scored from all three races will be 96 (3 races x 32 points = 96)

The bonus points awarded for pole positions will remain the same. We have three rounds of car and track combos, so there will still be three pole positions to compete for, which means another 3 points that can be earned.

However, there will now be a "Triple Crown" bonus point for anyone who wins pole position in all three rounds (1 point).

Therefore, here's a calculation on the maximum points:

96 + 3 + 1 = 100 points!

Rules
We expect all drivers to follow our OLR Rules and pursue good racecraft at all times. If you're not sure what good racecraft is, watch this video. It can be summed up in one simple 'Golden Rule' of motorsports: It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free. If you don't agree with this rule or don't think it applies to you, this is not the league for you. If you ever feel like a driver in this league is not following the rules, please submit a complaint to our stewards. They will review the incident and enforce the appropriate penalty on the driver in question. Any division steward can be PM'ed with a race complaint for this series.

Is this going to conflict with oval racing?

Oh, 9PM, that's better.

Sign me into the Shoot-Out, if you please
Thanks
TEX

Sign me up as well please.
Finally, an earlier worknight event. 👍

Thanks for putting it together Joe.

Preseason we will run 3 combos, different cars. First 3 guys that signed up can pick one combo each in the order you posted.

Preseason combos are to be picked by the following drivers:

1st Dabnyd
2nd Tex36
3rd Dragonwhisky

Please post your selections below.

Everyone will need to pick a different car for the first week. When we start the season we will run 1 car on 3 tracks.

We are still waiting on Tex36 and Dragonwhisky to make their selections. I'll update with laps after doing a quick test.

@kcheeb, how best we handle the score tracking / spread sheet?

If you like the current layout I can modify one for this series. Setup up a template and good to go 👍

I was waiting for Tex to make his choice.

125 karts. Was thinking Rome but haven't tested if the kart will run out of gear.

Go ahead and make your pick as I'm sure he won't mind. The order was simply to avoid duplicate cars being picked.

That sounds great. I like your spreadsheets. Thanks for the help!

Thanks!

Spreadsheets done and shared.

I think I've got the scoring correct. Let me know if there's something amiss. I left voting in, just in case you decide to change it up, no worries.

Are you thinking about doing a monthly series? I can add a sum sheet, much the same as the months in the S.N.A.I.L. Results spreadsheet. Let me know.

Hi Tex,

Please make your way to the Open Wheel thread and pick your prize selection of car and track asap. Preseason is tomorrow.

Boy, that's a surprise ...... never thought I'd ever pick a Combo.
Time for a change of pace, unless it is unacceptable.

My choice: 125 Kart @ Eiger - Short Track

Was that an edit? Didn't see it the first time. Tex will make another selection. Plenty of cars left to pick from.

Nevermind my kart choice since Tex has picked it.

Prowler at ???. Joe, would you mind picking a track for this?

Thanks.

Tex has picked F2007 at Monza with Chicanes.

We can save the Prowler for the season. Can't wait.

I haven't raced karts often but kart on Rome sounds like fun.

****We will use preseason results prizes to make the car and track selection for the start of the Season 1. Details found in first post. ****

Well. crap. I dunno what to do now.

125 Karts at Rome then.

Maybe running these there will help me learn to drive other cars on that annoying track. Still haven't had a chance to test it on the straights. At work now so if anyone has the time and inclination could you check it out and see if they'll work at Rome?

Thanks.

Who has signed up so far? Don't want to be a "Wannabe Div 5" driver in with a bunch of Aliens. Just wondering.

Karts on Rome will top out at 86mph early into the straights but doesn't bounce off the limiter in an annoying fashion. I think we should try it. I have very little experience in karts, but I think that is how they should be, topping out early and time is gained or lost in the corners. Seemed ok to me to run. If people don't like it we can limit the car to shorter tracks in the future.

Owens is the only alien so far. Looks like kcheeb, ChuthuluGoat, DragonWhisky, Joe, and myself are the others who have signed up.

Thanks ..... maybe I will be able to keep "yawl" in sight for a little while.
