I wish my lathe was CNC... Maybe some day. For now I have to go old school ;)

Lookin nice Marcus! :D Thanks for the pics. It's always a surprise to see my handy-work in someone else's hands... Where's that sticking going to go? :D

One thing I don't like and this has been difficult to get right at times, are those extra threads below the knob. It's quite difficult to get the internal thread length for different knobs. I guess as long as you aren't wrapping your fingers around the knob you might not notice. However, the threads are fairly sharp... Please let me know if it bugs you and I will make a new one for free. :)

itrdc5,

Both of your shafts came with the Delrin sleeves. :) They should wear a bit better than stock. I took a look at my stock one the other day and it looks very similar to VanWeeD's. I am just using the stock plate...

Mine are also made slightly oversize so they will spin around the shaft.

Question regarding TH8RS,

Can it be plugged in via usb directly to ps3 while using a fanatec wheel? Do I have to have a t500 in order for it to work?

Thank you Mr Basher

Love it , I am going to test this with trucks on charlotte. the good thing is if I want to extend it to a bent shaft, there are plenty of 10" shaft extension rod that can fit this now.
and that Delrin sleeve, thanks for offering it with the shaft. works out very very well. now time to test drive this thing.
Thank you Mr Basher. you've done it again. first the brake bushing. gets me from Rookie Oval to A license in 15 days, and I have recently won 3 times in a row on a corvette @ laguna, im very impressed 👍👍👍

Marcus, really like the shift knob. Old school! 👍
Do you have a link for some of those bent shafts?
That might really help me out with my sequential mount dilemma.

I completely agree about the brake bushing.
I don't compete in iRacing here, but my lap times have really improved on both the console and PC sims I run since going to T500 pedals and then installing basher's bushing mod!

...and like myself you had load-cell equipped pedals before the T500. :sly:

Thanks Jon, I have a place already for the sticker to go. thank you for that. nah the thread did not bother me at all, , never needed to wrap my hand fully on the knob when shifting, plus with the gloves it doesn't matter at all. 👍

it's not a bent shaft...yet. but it will be once/if I end up getting it, im going to enjoy the short shift for now, it adds more resistance to the Th8RS
here's the link. there are other sizes thread as well.
This here is an M12 size

not sure if I can bend it or will it brake. as I said when the time comes i'll find out :D

I can't believe the brake mod works and it keeps on working so well. thanks again Jon.

You should be able to screw the extension onto the short rod tightly, then mark the side you want it to bend in (the direction) Then remove it and put it in a vice, bend. :) It's very unlikely it will break unless it's aluminum and you bend it too fast. Worst case, you can use the jam nut to get it exactly where you want it.

You are certainly welcome on the brake mod. I should have sent you the new set of bushings with the rod! that was dumb of me.

Thanks Marcus, let me know how your experiment goes (bend = :) or break =).
If it works, then a jam nut could be used to get the orientation right.
That will solve the problem of right to left when changing shifter sides on my rig.

That's good because technically... You aren't supposed to grab it like a ball anyhow. :D

Hey no worries jon, im certain there will be plenty of time in the future when your next brilliant creation arrives here at my doorstep 👍
yes Jon, that is what I had in mind. using vice and mark where I can bend , have you guys seen this ?

Full thread can be seen here
love to do something similar.

Marcus,

I have a buddy that wants to do the same! I think people think he's crazy but if done right, maybe with projection or something... I think it'd be excellent. I took the Champ car CXC Simulations converted for a test drive and I gotta say, stuffing my fat butt into that little cockpit really added to the experience, in a positive way. As an aside, you really have to see that setup in person to appreciate the work they put into it. It's quite something.

On an unrelated note... (but regarding the next creation) "Another John" and I have something coming down the pipe that might shake things up a little... That's all I'm gonna say for now. :) If it pans out, it will be fun to play with!

On a slightly related note... I am going to make maybe 10 or more of the standard short shafts that are for use with the original knob this weekend. If anyone is interested... ;) I have a bit of a queue to work through first. I sure love modding and helping out wherever I can. :)

Edit: I may make a video showing the making of one of the shafts... I'm not a machinist and these are made on a hobby lathe by hand so it might lend some perspective. I just think it's so cool making stuff from metal though... Now I want a bigger lathe, among other things.

nice nice nice. love to see what you and John have in store (please be a mini PCB for T500) , yeah video would be awesome. wish I can test drive and see champ car creation, watching that video making me login to iracing everytime.

maybe I'm going blind in my old age, but I cannot see the rod on Mr basher's website. :nervous:

Just PM him here. He's a great guy and will have one ready for you in no time at all.
In fact I think he was for making a batch over the weekend

Germinator,

I don't have the shafts on my site because each one is made by hand and takes some time. Thus, to minimize orders coming in, I only do them when asked directly. If you'd like one, just send me a PM and I'll get you squared away.

Carson,

Thank you very much :D You're too kind.

Behold...my 9 Inch shaft!!! Marvel at it! Fear it! :D :D :D

More are ready, if anyone is interested... These fit the stock knob, but are considerably shorter length:

So I've decided to get the TH8...

I kind of need the dimensions of it, as I need to figure out a way to place it in a hight, where I can reach it :D. Does anyone have them?

Do either of you want one of those short shifter rods I posted?

Dean, JogoAsobi probably knows the dimensions off the top of his head. :)

Maybe. I'm gonna give the stock shifter a shot and see if I need a shorter rod for my rig or not.
but just for future reference, how much were you selling them for??

Sorry isamu, I'm not sure but I might open mine up and check if the grooves have worn out. Last time I looked, they were fine. Hope that hasn't changed.

Here's a photo of my latest plate. OK, it's the same plate, just look different. Different plates for different cars, well, I like Lancias. *shrug* :)

Thanks for the plate itrdc5 :)

My version on your plate. Once I get decent decal, I will be doing some more customization. Here it is so far...

Hey Publicsafety, that looks great. What is that orange lining you have there? At first I thought it was paint but on second look, it doesn't look like it. Nice Delrin knob from Product Innovations 👍

I've been away from simracing for a while, but before I left I really liked this shifter, which was just becoming available. Since it's been a while, it's safe to say that plenty of you must have that shifter by now.

I have a G27 and use it with my PS3 and PC on a custom seat I have made and a 32" LED TV. I really like this shifter and was thinking of getting it.

First of all are they hardy? Do they have any issues or break after some time?

How good is the feel?

Any compatibility issues?

Will I be able to use it with new wheels if I ever decide to upgrade to a fanatec?

I have seen already some good mods to have a longer lever. Very tempting :)

For Fanatec wheels and a TH8RS you will need one of these http://www.basherboards.com/SFA1
I highly recommend it :) 👍

Big thanks to mrbasherman for machining this high quality shaft for the TH8RS. 👍 👍

The Delrin knob is now on nice and snug, and no longer needs to be removed when swapping shifter plates now!!! :dopey:
