What did you notice the most in the demo?

The demo feels laggy or must be the flickering in the background that is throwing me off. I guess since I play both FM & GT it's harder for me to adjust.

+Body roll is fantastic, make the sense of speed around corners much more realistic.
+GT-R is much more fun to drive
+Menus are great and super clean
+Awesome start up music and animations for races
+Much improved driving line for those who need it
+Awesome new lighting engine, makes game much prettier

-Frame rate issues
-Aliasing, lots of it

Overall, a really good demo. Have already gotten hours of enjoyment out of it, and I can't say that Ive ever said that about a demo.

For all the people complaining about the Nissans....its a Gt Academy Demo, sponsored by NISSAN....what did you expect...
We might not even have a demo if not for Nissan's sponsorship, so be a little bit more thankful for what we've got here

I turn off driving line and HUD and just use in game dash to monitor RPM and dont much care about speed. But with HUD off the frame drops slightly during dash view...

But I liked the new menu system. And definitely the loading... Thats a big plus lol

I noticed that graphics are just like GT5 but with lower resolution textures, insane flickering on pretty much everything and slightly more vivid colors.

Engine sounds are obviously unchanged but other sound effects are actually worse.

Still no torque steer and braking is identical to GT5. The rest feels great but it's not revolutionary or anything, it's a bit closer to Forza 4, maybe equal.

I would say that the scenery looks interlaced somehow. Where is the bonnet cam?? All this fuss about Grid 2 not having a cockpit cam, and polyphony can't even give us a bonnet cam??

The GTR! Holy crap! I swear the GTR R35 is probably the car that I've driven the least in GT5 because of how boring and dead it feels, even though I know it's one of the fastest cars I have in my garage.

But dear god, how much this car changes with the new physics. It feels so alive that I even doubted that they've copied its handling correctly. It's oversteering like crazy, burning the rear tires, you can finally feel its weight and yet it's amazingly responsive, and the suspension bouncing and rolling all over the turns looks so damn amazing.

GT6 has brought a new life to the most unrewarding car in the series.

Love the physics, love the amount of time trials but apart from that its difficult to tell because this isn't really a demo as such.

I was surprised at how small the download file was at 1072mb. I was expecting it to be larger which is why im not worried about GT6 when released.

I find the cars are way easier to drive than in GT5 - I am driving with no ABS :) My first race with Leaf at Autumn Ring Mini was a lot easier than I did in GT5, plenty of grip on CM tires, brakes works like a charm with no ABS, almost got into sub 50 sec lap and leaving the 2nd car by more than 10 seconds. Got into 1st at just after 1st turn of 2nd lap. The AI are just having picnic drive, PD must have intentionally make them slow.

I drive in cockpit view, so far everything drives smoothly, no jitter, no slow down, graphics is awesome on my TV - 1080p Samsung LCD 32 inch. I am playing on a brand new Slim 160GB PS3. Large theatre sound setting + 5.1 DTS AVR at -20dB :D

I flipped the 370z in one of the tests on its roof. :scared:
Got launched straight up, when i drove over a curb. The right front wheel hit it and just got airborne. That didn't feel quite naturally. :boggled:
For the rest i really like the handling, the cars are lots of fun to trash around.
👍

First thing that was evident was the suspension model. The Leaf (obviously because it's a soft, comfort car) rolled way more than what I remember from most similar cars in GT5.

Next, was the lighting model, which I started to analyze a bit more in the replay. The fact that the elements actually reflect the color and hue of the lighting is enough to make a huge improvement over GT5. GT5 didn't have any mood to the lighting, at all. The environments are nicer, but not quite as nice as I was expecting, same goes for the areas just off the track (I'd expect to see less grass, more dirt and uneven parts where cars have run off).

Speaking of runoffs, the off track areas reflected more accurate grip levels, but not the uneven nature of the surface. I went through a gravel trap on Grand Valley, and it was as smooth as the track.

I tried a few little slides and drifts in the 370Z, and was happy to see an improvement in the way the tires and suspension react to correcting and over correcting the slide. It was easier to catch the car from over steering the other way when correcting, and the body roll reacted well. In GT5, it's far too easy for the car to whip back the other way, like it were on ice.

The AI......still stupid.

The boundaries for running off track are far more strict, but maybe that is the case for GT Academy so there's little chance of cheaters slipping through, like last time.

I've yet to drive the GTR, but looking forward to seeing how it drives compared to a comparable GTR in GT5.

This may sound funny or stupid, but the first thing I noticed was that there doesn't seem to be a possibility to change the spedometer from mph to kmh... Looked in the options, but can't find it there.

Is this just me being a dunce :dunce: or am I on to something here?

After hoping in the 370 Tunes after driving the GT-R, man the you can feel the difference in weight, handling, so much more than GT5. Very impressive.

Would running 720p help with performance as well by any chance? It´s really hard to evaluate physics at 15 fps... Will have to try it I am just afraid it will introduce some input lag on my monitor with it having to do the scaling to 1080p

I did a comparison with the 370z in rFactor 2 and GT 6 was utterly destroyed. But I suppose the rFactor 2 may be a more optimized racing version so it may not be all that fair. I also run 85 fps on a better looking version of Silverstone lol.

But the sound and suspension modelling and how the brakes operate feel so much better.

In GT 6 if I run without ABS it appear to have ridiculous rear ward brake balance. It´s like pulling the handbrake to stand on the brakes. With ABS 1 you can abuse the brakes all you want it will hardly upset the balance of the car just introduce some understeer.

There is more suspension modelling which make it feel a bit more like Forza. This is only a good thing in this regard but again I would have liked it to do more then compare :(.
Hopefully they will release a better demo later on. This is really not enough for me to buy even though I already got a PS 3.

15fps? Dust your ps3, give it room to breath, disconnect from the internet, hopefully this helps you.I havent experienced any noticeable frame rate drops at all, even with the ghost car on.

In GT5, it's far too easy for the car to whip back the other way, like it were on ice.

This is what I hate the most about gt5.when I try to correct a perfect slide, the car over corrects itself way too easy.even when I use comfort hards(the most recommended tires)

Has anyone been able to get some gameplay captures onto youtube or similar yet? I'm really curious about the sounds. This thread seems to suggest they're better, but from what was shown at E3 I'm very skeptical (as the e3 stuff was carbon copies of GT5)

What the hell is the complaints with fps? I played for hours and it ran perfect without any dipping or stuttering.

The way the weight moves around is really punishing...you really need to concentrate on smoothness of braking and throttling on more on GT6 then 5...

Just play with 1080p settings on your PS3 and on the silverstone full track in cockpit view and you will notice it for sure!

I was positive surprised with the demo.

Birds flying in the sky, car handling and physics improved nicely.
I also haven't seen any notice of stuttering/dipping while playing this morning..
Very pleased with the faster loading of track/race. Good work.

I think we might get the GT-R GT3 car at Silverstone. It made an appearance in most of the GTA promotional content, and is of course the car that the winner will spend his or her first season in! That'd make sense! :)

i like your thinking there

It seems that frame rate drops are only evident if you are running at 1080p, by that I mean whatever GT6 renders at and then scales to 1080p.

I need to test in 720p.

But assuming it plays the same for everyone then I am amazed if some people don't notice it.

I've played the first four races, and I would have to agree with the "PC Elitist", when there are 3 or more cars on screen, or in some of the more detailed areas the frame rate really feels that it drops as low as 15 fps.

On Suzuka watch the Grand Stand as you drive past at a constant speed, tell me if it stutters... of all places that should have a constant frame rate.

Apart from that, the physics feel more realistic, the track looks better and the cars look better because they are moving more naturally.

If the frame rate stays like this for the final release, then I will be spending most of my time in time trials.

I found the pop up and the level of detail changes in the background and of the cars to be very distracting, but I believe that will be improved with final polishing for the actual game.

The original GT Academy powered by GT5 felt a lot more polished IMHO.

Loving the menu's, but it was inexcusable that they made them so poor for GT5, so this just brings them in line with other games rather than being fast or really well designed.

The first thing I did notice was the amazing and smart AI, they knew I was a lot faster and right at the start they slowed down their pace to sunday picnic level to avoid any troubles.

Another thing worth pointing out is that all of the tracks were deserted, even during the races. Once they hopefully fill those grandstands framerate issues are going to be even worse.
