'Gran Turismo' is coming to the BIG screen!

A story of one mans grueling round-the-world journey, his Schwimmwagen, and his aim of beating the likes of Gordon, Vettel, The Stig in vehicular combat. Along with his trusty "B Team" entourage. Kaz will play all the major and extra roles, as well as managing the Dyson vacuums behind the camera...

Alternatively, they can put a twist on things by saying it'll be based on Tourist Trophy as well.

GT: the story about a young man who wants to get to the top of the grid, but fails because all he does is use a X1 red bull to do the Sunday cup. His master is Kazunori Yamauchi. The young man name is dundun dundum: Bob.

Bob: what is my destiny?

Kazunori: I want you to drive like a drunk driver

Bob: *smiles* okay

Bob starts to walk off

Kazunori: wait.

Bob: yes??

Kazunori: I want you to be the very best and please for me, try every skyline and miata for me. They are different and may unlock your true potential.

Bob walks off toward the track and out off no where a X1 running at 999mph hits Bob.

THE END

Simple formula, the movie will just show in-game replays from GT to GT5 /6 with all kinds of cars in races, time attacks and the games cutscenes.
Just let the Top Gear guys do the commentary. Everything is going to be alright.

Or it´s about the guy that tried to collect all the museum cards

I can definitely see the possibility of a movie from GT and GTA. I find the stories of the GTA winners to be very compelling.

A young kid (Billy) gets a Playstation and Gran Turismo for Christmas. It was bought by his Grandfather because his family was poor. He turns out to be a prodigy at the game.
[bullied for being a nerd]
Cut ahead several years. Now a young teen Billy gets a PS2, a wheel and GT3 for Christmas. His grandpa sitting on the couch asks, “So Billy, what do you want to be when you grow up?”. “ I want to be a race car driver!”. Grandpa says “you should think of something more practical.”
[Jump ahead again]
Billy gets his license, and gets lots of tickets and gets in trouble for street racing. Just when it seems that Billy’s world is about to fall apart GT Academy comes out. Billy does great and gets his all expenses paid trip.
Then there is the drama of the camp. He wins.
Then Billy is a real race car driver.
It is a coming of age story and I would certainly watch it on netflix. Well maybe.

I think I've seen that one before:

I think the resulting product, if the movie really goes on, would be on par on the infamous Street Fighter movie of 1994. Yes, that one featuring JCVD as Guile. :indiff:

(Says the guy who have never watched the movie in question)

There's a few angles to a story they could choose to take, from my limited scope. It could be a story about an up and coming racing team and driver (Days of Thunder), a utopian fantasy-like motorsport porn (Speed Racer), light-hearted adventure movie where rich dudes challenge each other to races in different cars and tracks around the world (Cannonball Run), a character representing every man being thrust full force into racing after he's found to have extreme natural talent (Initial D, Happy Gilmore, lol).

I have no idea what would work. What type of story do you want to tell relating to GT?
It's big on pushing the idea of a driver and his pride, emotion, drive, so it would have to be something like a driver superhero film. A guy who's used as a vehicle to give mainstream insight into the way racing works and all the hardships and sacrifice around it. So that would be a cool thing to try and accomplish with the film, I suppose.

But we can rest assured that it'll be horrible, but will still be so much fun to watch.

Here's a random horrible idea: a couple of friends, one good at driving, another good at business. They work in a shop flipping cars, and they become great at increasing performance on all types, so they turn into a speed shop. They get into some hilarious amount of debt due to the business friend's(comic relief) irresponsibility. Decide to put everything into a last project, a race car, they run some semi-fictional series and the driver friend is incredibly good right off the bat, is about to win, then the car breaks. While he didn't win, he did get noticed, the friends grow apart as the driver guy is brought onto a bigger team and the business one is left to fry. Turmoil, backstabbing, world touring, girls, etc.

I dunno, just popped out of my head.

Tornado and I are gonna come up with some funny ideas for a GT movie to talk about on my podcast this weekend (link in mah sig) and discuss all things related to such a concept. Should be fun, stay tuned for it.

I do find it interesting Kaz wouldn't give the GT name to a spinoff game (Drive Club) but is happy to give it to a Hollywood movie. He must be confident they won't tarnish the name.

GT Movie will be the sequel of Talladega Nights :

This time : GT Academy Nights : The Ballads of Ricky Bobby

Shake' n Bake -- Block U !!

Wowowowow. What if it really is a "Based on a real story" movie?

And the plot is GT's history?

A GT movie? Forza will still have better sounds than that.

Ugh, it makes me cringe saying something so dumb when I know there are others who've made dumber jokes.

It'd be interesting. I kind of hope it's like that, but it's a tough one.

I guessing not to tarnish the name, but instead show everyone how its like if GT was in reality or I'm not sure, haha. :P

Edit: Seriously? Wow. Had to read the article twice to be sure it indeed is for real.

I would expect something among the lines of "The Social Network" with focus on Kazunori career.

...or a zombie movie, where the all earthlings became a zombie Jeff Gordon and keep talking "Remember, the car is heavy".

I'm imagining a racer building up from street races to perhaps F1 or something other such as LMP racing. I could be wrong but that's Gran Turismo for me.

Gran Turismo has never had street racing, ever. You're thinking of Need For Speed.

GT is literally just racing at different levels of professional competition.

Haven´t seen The Social Network, or any movie from these producers ftm. Are they rather anti-cliches?

Then they might actually come up with something.

Still, the article posted by Kino321-X talks about an action movie, wich concerns me.

If they're pairing up with Dreamworks, I am praying that they don't make an ass out of the Gran Turismo name and turn it into a *gulp* animated movie.

Will this movie be worse than Dragonball evolution?

That's a difficult task, but we'll probably going to have the same "Wtf where's dragonball here" feeling.
Well, that's what always happens when hollywood touch something from japan, expecially games.

Reading this on the main news page 5 minutes ago, thinking to myself "What, is it April 1st already?" I mean wow. A movie on GT? seriously? that's just crazy.

This'll be the main cast. Lucas will be the "GT Kid" and Kaz will be "Kazunoke Yamayagi".

A Gran Turismo movie is one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard of. The series has had no specific story since it's inception.

Granted the NFS movie has it's story ripped straight from The Run, but how will they come up with a plot for a GT movie?

I'm not sure whether it's a good idea to have a GT movie produced with the writers of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
