What I really want from GT movie :
The movie will have story similar to Shutokou Battle movie series only more expanded with higher budget + darker in tone - sort of Wangan Midnight + Initial D + Fast & Furious at the beginning , a young man wants to be pro race car driver, he got into illegal street car racing - highway battle, touge battle and street drag were his domain and forte.
A certain figure came into his life, his arch enemies - his fear, his love life, his rivals. He learned major life lessons, lost his best friend, lost his family, lost his pride ... then he met one of GT Academy champions when he works at a local race tracks, his life was changed, he found a new spirit, a new beginning, he decided to follow GTA Champ steps.
He changed his ways, got a proper driver's licence, join a car club, practice at the tracks, made into local amateur spec racing series - Spec Miata or something similar - there he met his former arch rivals, tragedy at the track, crashes, sabotage and conspiracy to bring the protagonist down - he prevail at the end but lost his ride, lost everything again - no money after only a few races in calendar, then when the next GTA comes around, he took his time, get serious and got into the finals, the last few days of the finals are shown and dramatically he won the GTA after certain people effort to disqualify him for his dark past ... and the story goes on with lots more adventure in his early days of pro race driver careerThe message at the end is : Bring racing to the track, be safe and responsible !!
The ultimate GT movie ever ... starring Ryan Gosling as the unnamed next GTA champ who raise to the top from dark world of illegal street racing.

I liked your idea, but you gotta understand our displeasure and pesimism. We don't know anything yet from the movie, but I hazard a guess and think it won't be along the lines of what you said. It's just too good for most of Hollywood. Plus, what's wrong with having fun with sarcastic comments?

Thunder Bolt was an utter failure at capturing racing world both on the street and track

I'm not going to bother with the obvious jokes, mainly because most are probably in here already. I was going to do a "50 Shades of Paint Chips" joke but I saw that it was already done.
On a serious note, I really don't see how this franchise can be made into a film that is actually entertaining. IGN described GT as "dry" and doing so was a generous understatement. They secured a Top Gear license, for example, and gave us the test track, but the show's presenters had no involvement and PD's idea of a Top Gear challenge was to push samba buses around at 3.2 MPH, slowly and carefully creeping by other sluggish hippie vans doing 3.1 MPH. That's the opposite of fun, and the opposite of Top Gear. These are the folks who figured an exciting race is a series of slower cars strung out over a half mile ahead of you and you gradually cruise by them.
The only way I can see this working is if the only thing the film has in common with the game series is the title and the fact that it has cars. Make a Fast-and-Furious sort of film and just slap the GT logo onto the movie poster.

Nothing wrong with being sarcastic, but I think we've had enough with other whining - esque threads on GT5 and GT6 forums
Let's make a good use of this thread, maybe collecting story ideas, who knows we can send our collective rough story sketch to Kaz, when Jordan have the chance to interview him next time Slim chance, but we have nothing to lose, right ?

Could you please name Hollywood movie that has similar story - that combines parts from Wangan Midnight - highway races, Initial D - Touge races, and Fast & Furious - street drags for the 1st half, and road to GT Academy for the last half with drama and tragedy mixed in.
And what are the names of those movies ? Care to give example ? I was being serious, not a joke comment.

Gran Turismo: Quest to own all JDM cars. This proposed series will take 6 movies to finish the story. It will track a young boy in his quest to own every JDM car. He will face many problems like having multiple grey paint chips and many accomplishments like finally finding the car he needs in the used car lot. So is Fast & Furious franchise, now we are going to have the 7th installment, and the last one made more than half a biliion dollar ... sometimes new content is what's needed, old ideas can still work.
What matters now is if they are going to have the budget, director, script and casts to pull of a good "cliche" movie that makes tons at box office.

Most of the Hollywood major hit at box office has been the result of mixing other story parts together with cliche story of good vs evil or romances in the mix, rarely do we see one of a kind movie with fresh idea, and most of the time non cliche fresh idea movie do not make great profit - sad reality in Hollywood nowadays. Now I hope the upcoming RUSH is not regarded as the same old cliche movie with real racing driver story mixed in.
Well obviously not exactly the same but the general theme of rags to riches driver, big rival, a few stumbling blocks and a bit of death here and there has been done so many times. There was even a game with that formula, the first Toca Race Driver game. It's also super cheesy.

It's about a guy that does track days at the Sunday Cup, he wins a couple, daily he plays on GT Academy, he wins GT Academy and has his first race, the 24 hours of Nurb... he wins after mechanical problems or a wreck early in the race. This is the most realistic script I have thought of so far...

I cannot imagine this will be any more then a good popcorn movie, not that there's anything wrong with that.
