oh, parties over!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if this includes private games? I could care less about the public races because they're all a waste of my time anyway. Having the rankings stay global was my biggest concern. We got to be able to make private games with whoever we want though. When I race online with my computer sims, I race with people from all over the world... I mean come on, if they're making US be the friggen server, what's the big deal?
I used to play quake online many moons ago...Playing with americans or japanese was awefull. The lag was terrible! Maybe if everyone had a 10 meg connection then it would be fine but many players dont (many players in the US still have dial up). Is that why PD made it regional play?
When setting up a public server you can impose PING restrictions. This is a way of keeping like players within tollerable speeds with others. GT5doesnt have public servers. Using a Player as a Host is a a cheap way out. PD dont have to pay for any server space for its game to be hosted. Thus If your a player hosting a game then the chances are you have customer bandwidth...not server bandwidth. If your using a wireless network in your house and you brother is wathing U tube and you father is sending loads of e mails your bandwidth is minimised. I really hope its better in GT5 full!
Not much of a surprise to be honest. I'm going to be more than happy if they allow us to invite friends or players on our friends list so we can race each other.
So basically if we want to play against everyone ... we would need to own all region versions? that sounds like the biggest cash cow gaming con of all time haha![]()
Is the region-locking based on the disc you have, the account you use, or both?
I'm glad I did not pre order the game then, not sure I'll buy it now. I was sooo looking forward to racing my friends across the pond. 👎👎

Perhaps the experience is seriously degraded when playing people across the world? Without knowing what data needs to be transferred for GT5it's hard to compare with a FPS. In an FPS, they can perform some sort of prediction with the bullets and synchronising the movement of a player is more simple than a car (I would guess)
RP I've read the on-line response to your global question but something is wrong your assumptions. What I mean is, I have a JP version and for about 2 weeks now, if I log on with my Jpn account, GT5P has NO on-line capablity - the on-line icon is ghosted. However, if I log on with my US account, all is well AND I race against global drivers - Asia (mostly), EU, and US - just like before specII.
So, perhaps the competition will still be global but the account must be regional. I mean why allow global stats but not allow one to race directly against the stat maker?
I guess we will see tomorrow. Maybe the PSN update changes things manana?
I haven't heard our Euorpean friends complaining about not racing globally.
Just GreatI wonder who thought up this bright idea? What excuse is there now? Lets see if they really are listening now because I've suddenly beginning to think that's a load of s*** we've all been fed.
