Trump may have backed down on his trade war against Canada, but Canada is not removing their retaliatory tariffs against the US.

And remember that Canada's tariffs are designed to target our red states.

Kentucky will be awash in unsold bourbon 😂

I'd watch Kentucky burn before Michigan, honestly @Joey D. Build the wall along the Ohio River!

Oh and B.C. is planning to impose a toll on trucks crossing the province to supply Alaska.

Ontario is threatening an export tax on electricity they sell to America.

My fervent wish is that Europe will take actions to make Trump look weak.

I also hope that Albo can grow a pair and can pile on by reneging on AUKUS. It was never going to be good for Australia anyway. Everyone knows that Trump would renege in a heartbeat for something as trivial as the associated photo opportunity.

Even if the Labor party did want to grow a pair. They can't make a move until the election is over and more likely to be convinced if we get enough Third Party or Independent seats to create a hung parliment. We'll be stuck with AUKUS if Liberal wins

Thank the heavens we have a much better voting system where its impossible to waste it. Just put Liberal and Liberal adjacent parties last (though the fact they might win and we still won't get a hung parliment shows how awful we can be).

Yep, although I should point out that exports to Alaska by truck are tiny in comparison to imports they receive by ship. Still, it's about sending a message. I suspect Eby will be hitting back even harder as this goes on.

In fact, according to numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Transport Statistics, shared by University of Alaska economics professor Mike Jones, trucking only represents about one per cent of cargo entering the state every year, with the bulk coming through the Port of Alaska in Anchorage, primarily from U.S. destinations.

That doesn't mean, though, that Alaskans wouldn't be impacted. The state does rely on Canada for some goods, including construction material and, potentially, fuel, as local sources run out. Those living in border communities also use Yukon as a source of supplies, from groceries to health care.

To that end, Republican senator Cathy Giessel has advanced a joint resolution pushing the president to honour the trade relationship with both Canada and Mexico, proclaiming that the Alaska Legislature "opposes any restrictive trade measures that would harm the unique relationship betwen Canada and Alaska or negatively affect our integrated economies."

After Canada, Mexico, Panama, Europe, Palestine, JAPAN is NEXT

Yo seriously how the f did someone so undiplomatic came into office and is allowed to do this?

JDF, WW2, horrible legacy of colonialism and being nuked, this idiot has to ask why the US offers defensive support to a country with no professional army?

Do Canadians even have an "angry" setting?
Propably similar to us finns. We are polite but strict and determined. We dont get angry - we pity the fool. You dont need to shout and yell like america - thats just superficial. Its more effective to make you see your mistake and regret. That will teach you. We wont slap you in the face right away - but you can be certain we have registered your attitude.

Maybe one should ask russians from ww2 how it feels to be on the bad side of these polite and silent northern nations.

I used to personally know a very finnish gentleman who moved to Canada in the late 60s and drove trucks for some 30+ years there. The callsign on the nose of his Peterbild was "Big Trouble". That gives you an idea..

If there is any voice in Japan politics that wants Japan to return to their militiaristic ways from WW2. Great job vindicating that Trump

Nazis and russian dictators are not that different. Russian are just more cunning and sneaky in their actions and tend to kill more of their own people. Finland first fought off Stalin and then Hitler. Dont see much difference.

That said - I get all kinds of bad vibes from this Trump -crew running U.S. at the moment. Personal gain and fame above truth and greater good is alway a bad sign. Not yet sure if they are evil or just short sighted and dumb. And I think Zelensky is no saint either. There is, was and will be soviet era corruption in Ukraine, but that is minor league compared to Putin and Trump..

"We have an interesting deal with Japan, that we have to protect them, but they don't have to protect us..."

"We have an interesting deal with Japan, they basically allow us to use Japan as a massive East China Sea-based aircraft carrier, which will be invaluble when the inevitable US-China conflict over Taiwan begins."

My thought exactly when I saw Trumps comment. Like I said - dont know if they are evil or dump..

Why the Dems keep losing in a nutshell. Any Dem that is still talking about bipartisanship in the year of the lord 2025 needs to be primaried and have their balls crushed. What do we call someone who bipartisan-ly collaborates with fascists? A fascist.

Our Defense Secretary, the drunkard Pete Hegseth, has banned photographs of the B29 Bomber which dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima in August 1945.

In the photo below, you'll see the pilot, Col. Paul Tibbets Jr. posing in front of the plane, which he named after his mother, Enola Gay Tibbets.

See if you can guess why Hegseth banned photos of this plane.

The explanation is in the spoiler text below.

It's to do with "DEI". He has also banned a photo of Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. A.C. Gay.

Someone should call him out on that. Of course, nobody in the administration nor mainstream media either knows or cares.
