What's your real life benchmark?

Everyday i jump into one of three vehicles, a Seat Leon, a Mini Cooper or a transit van.

Once a year i'll jump into something more racey, for example this year i took a John Cooper works mini on a race track, last year i had one of those rally experience days, the year before i crashed a van.

Add this to a bit of karting, and you'll soon realise that for me to comment on how close GT5 will be to real life is a bit silly, but fun anyway.

So my benchmark for comparison is a John Cooper works on race tyres on a proper racing track.

Whats your benchmark?

well i am too young to drive but normally, my dad drives me round in a volkswagen passat, but everyday after school someone else picks me up in his audi a4 and drives like a maniac.

so you'll be running a A4 on some street circuit then, i forgot that many on these forums are too young to legally drive.

I have driven e-type jag, volvo P1800S, opel vectra, omega and c-series merc. Currently i have no real car as i sold my volvo, but im plannig to buy something quicker this time.(370z, cayman S or something cheaper like mr2 turbo or s2000)

Another Cooper owner here, pretty much all I got to go on is some "spirited" driving with it on some sportier tires. However, unless PD, or any game maker for the matter, recognises that a new Cooper model came out then I'm not really going to be able to compare anything since the last generation was pretty different from this generation. If the car is in the game though and it feels like it should then I will be happy.

Well let's say GT5P or GT4. The Golf GTi and Mini Cooper did not feel anything like the real ones. GT was still a bit too fake. It did things which the real life counterparts could not in the corners. I think people are blind sighted thinking that the GT series has the best physics ever (and even curse me etc), but I realized...most of these guys aren't even real life drivers. They are like 14 to 16 and so on.

I think anyone who comes out with the statement "best physics ever" should generally be considered new to driving as anyone over 20 shouldnt be using such phrases.

Interesting bunch of cars driven in here, and in a way it really does goes to show how important it is for PD to keep regular cars in GT, because i genuinely would love to try the cooper on many different tracks in the world.

Does an Electric Wheelchair count?

Or RC cars? lol

The way some of our locals drive wheelchairs, they certainly would count!

I can't really speak for the GTI since I've only ever driven one once, however I have driven and ridden in numerous R53 Cooper S's to know that GT5:P didn't quite get the car right, I will agree with you there. The sound was way off as well.

I drive a 99' VW Passat. I often use the Golf MKIV as an alternative in game.

But I have never went over 100mph in real life with my car nor any real track experience.

When playing GT, I just can't resist to floor the pedal while in real life I drive gently most of the time. =|

Think of the fuel you would save in endurance races if you drove like you do in real life. Might not win though. :dopey:

my history..
a punto s (45cv), a punto sporting (86cv),a bmw 116ti compact (110cv), a bmw 335i (170cv), a bmw z3 (120cv), a bmw z8 (400cv), a bmw M3 e92 (430cv), a evolution IX (320cv) (that i have still), a 612 scaglietti (540cv) , a 500 fiat (55cv)...

I think so too.And thats probably one thing why I only see thread titles like'clutch cheaters',nothing nice to say about using clutch.Someone responding inside the thread about how they like using clutch, but thats it.Very delicate subject, probably cos no practising how to drive with it.But remember,it makes you faster. And thats what online racing is all about, fastest way posible around the track,no mather what settings.Im I right, well not for me anyway.

I've been very happy with the Clio 2.0 in GT4 which is exactly same car like i have and it felt VERY similar just slightly faster in game than RL...
which still leeds me to the point that GT5p's physics are massively flawed ( simply cause they changed something what seemed perfect to me ), ok I know most people here will disagree and there's no 2.0 FF Clio in GT5p, however that used to be my benchmark and if GT5 will have it'll be again. :)

My '06 Honda Element which the "04 model is in GT4 and is very close. Which is weird as they didn't have my '04 Civic in GT4 at all, wtf PD :) But the only racing I'll be doing in it is up to Hood and back. You guys have some cool cars!

traded in my '96 Honda Civic coupe 1.5i VTEC only had 90ish hP was totally fun too ride 190km/h om dutch highway behind a porsche in 4th gear having a laugh traded it in because i do have a heavy right foot now i drive a peugeot 306 break (station) 1.9 diesel saving up for a new car

Ford Mondeo 1.8 16V, Fiat Punto 1.2 16V, Fiat Stilo Abarth 2.4 20V, Mitsubishi Evo 8 MR, Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 16V.

Work Peugeot diesel van, also driven a Group N RWD Ford Escort Cosworth on a rally day.

For my next car I'd like something like a BMW 330D, pace and economy.

I drive an S14 240SX (Zenki) and I've driven my dad's 2002 Camaro SS and my brother's Mk IV Supra a fair bit. Also a Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo. It would be nice to see the Stealth and the Zenki S14 240SX make it into the game since they weren't in GT3/GT4 (there was a Kouki S14 240 and some Zenki Silvias but not exactly a Zenki 240).
