Like a lot of people, I am somewhat disappointed with the car list, track list, damage, etc. However, I am still extremely excited about GT5 and I want to discuss the positive aspects of the game and the features that will ultimately make this game very enjoyable and addicting.
1. Online. PD has given GT5 a vast and diverse online environment from what I understand. That means unlimited playability just like a Call of Duty title for example.
2. Diverse cars and tracks. Sure there could be more modern cars and historically significant cars, but we still have a ton to choose from. There are some blatant omissions from the track list as well as the car list, but there is plenty to enjoy and there is a good mix of real world tracks, original tracks, city tracks, etc and there are cars ranging from VW buses to Formula 1 cars and everything in between.
3. Graphics. 1080p at 60 frames per second. Impressive and pure car porn when you factor in the photo mode.
4. Improved sounds. Every video of the full retail version of GT5 reiterates what Kaz said about improving car sounds for the final game. This is a huge part of the overall immersion and enjoyment of the game.
5. Weather and time transitions. Even if it on selected tracks only, it will be badass and fun as hell to drive at night and/or during different weather conditions.
6. Track maker. This is huge even if it is limited in scope. The pre-determined locations look varied and beautiful. We can also choose the time of day and possibly weather (I don't remember if that is confirmed) on these tracks. Unlimited variation and creativity.
7. 3d, head tracking, etc. Most of us probably won't use these features, but it is cool that they are being impememted.
8. Customization. We can paint our cars, paint the wheels, put racing modifications on, etc. This is huge. Sure we don't have a livery editor, but who really needs that anyways? I can put my signature black wheels (of any style I choose) on my cars and paint them hot purple if I so choose. Good times!
9. Improved physics. All new and improved engine (even for the million, ok, 800 or so standard cars). Even if there is no cockpit view for the standards, they will feel brand new.
That's all I got right now as I am 3 drinks deep, but maybe you guys can add to this list and elaborate on it. Either way, I have been negative about certain aspects of GT5, but ultimately, I am very excited and I know that GT5 will be $60 very well spent.
