Welcome to the Gran Turismo 5 Tsukuba Super Lap Battle

The Tsukuba Super Lap has always been the most important Time Attack event in the world. Top tuning companies from around the world come to compete in this annual event to try and set the fastest lap possible.

If you're not aware of this event then have a look at this (The Tsukuba SLB current record holder):

Current Real Life Record:

53.589 - Nobuteru Taniguchi - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution CT230R by HKS

This competition in Gran Turismo 5 will run under the same regulations as in real life.

Vehicle Regulations:

- The car must have originated from a stock production car, no Racing cars allowed (SuperGT, JGTC, FIA GT, LMP).
If your unsure then please ask.

- Any kind of performance tuning is allowed (apart from tires), RM included.

- Tires used must be street legal, max tire is Sports Soft (S3).

Event Regulations:

- Lap must be done in Practice mode or Arcade.

- Driving Options:
TCS: Up to driver.
Skid Recovery: OFF
ASM: OFF
ABS: Up to driver.
Wet/Grass Traction: REAL

- Fastest lap must be clean with a maximum of 2 wheels coming off the track at any one time. Run off areas such as on the main straight and second hairpin count as part of the track.

- Save fastest lap replay (In case they need to be sent in for feature or check).

- Submit:
Fastest Lap Time
Name
Car Used (You may add your own model name or tuning garage)
Whether it is Naturally Aspirated or Forced Induction (Turbo/Supercharged)

IF YOUR TIME BEATS THE RECORD IN ANY CATEGORY THEN THE REPLAY MUST BE SUBMITTED.

- If you have improved the fastest lap time done previously with a particular car then please specify.

On top of all this photos or videos of your Time Attack cars are very welcome, I will probably make some small articles/features for the fastest cars.

Regulations are subject to change when the game comes out and aswell as an overall class.

Why the tire limitation? Why not let them be unlimited, and be a "true" Unlimited Time Attack as the Super Lap Battle often is.

Change it to unrestricted tire selection, and I'm in.

All time attack events run on a Street legal tire rule (only Redline in the US doesnt follow this rule), and on Tsukuba, Time Attack event are always on street legal tires.

It's a lot more realistic this way and directly comparable (to a certain extent) to real life.

In the real Super Lap Battle in Japan and US, Hot Version Time Attack events, UK Time Attack Championship they all follow this rule, that is why Advan A048, Toyo R888, Bridgetone RE55s and so on are used, NOT slicks.

OK, I see your logic, but(forgive me if a stupid question) how will you know what tires folks used when submitting their times? If you leave it at unlimited, it removes it from being even in doubt.

Theres no reward for coming first so I'm going to trust people when they submit their times, plus most of the competitions on here you dont even have to submit a replay.

And maybe who knows, there might a tire indication on the replay like there was on GT4 at the beginning of the replay if im not mistaken.

Well I didn't see this until after I ran this lap, but I managed a 0:55.009 with the AEM S2000.

Race settings:

Transmission: MT
Front Tires: Racing Soft
Rear Tires: Racing Soft
Driving Line: Off
Traction Control: Off
Skid Recovery: Off
Active Steering: Off
Active Stability Management: Off
ABS: 1
Grip Reduction: Real

Steering settings from the options menu:

Steering Type: Simulation
Power Assist: Off
Feedback: 7

Ahh Balang, I remember you from my BTCup :)
I have to join in on this one! I've missed Tsukuba so much since the move to PS3.

Sports Soft is the maximum tire you are allowed.\

Nice to see you again DC9990!

Did a lap with my first car, a Civic Type-R EK9 completely stock. 1:10.094 Im very pleased its so close to the real fastest lap time with this car, its pretty realistic.
Going to start tuning it now.

Was this done with S3 tires? Although I am assuming right now it was done on the comfort tires the EK came with.

Yeah on comfort tires, havent upgraded them yet.

I bought some upgrades like exhaust, ECU and flywheel and did a best 1:08.341.

Only asking because I'm interested in simply seeing how my times stack compared to yours. I'm not using an EK but I managed a sub 1:10 with an 89 miata on sports. That was with the controller though so I'm sure I can cut down when I use the wheel. I've been trying to find a 1.8l NB miata to work its magic around tsukuba but haven't had luck finding it used yet. Maybe I'll update tonight. =D

Finally bought a car I would set some good times with a GT-R SpecV, tried it out stock to see how it was a set a 1:00.534.

The car must have originated from a stock production car, no Racing cars allowed

Does this include race mods? Kinda been working with a 400bhp tuned Lancer '05 that I race modified (which I brought stock originally)

Anything goes if it's a production car with Sport Soft compound.

I see places where I could make improvements. Not in the mood to try anymore, though. Hahaha

Ok thanks for the quick replies and such. Basically wanting to see if I can beat the real record 👍

Got one so far at sub 58 seconds but I think one of the corners is suspect, that and I think I could do way better in my lovely lancer

Nice one.

I'm slowly going to tune the specv and see what it can do, just cant afford it yet.

Updates on lap rules.

Here comes another FR class attempt

I was wondering how the hell you got 1:00.xxx with a skyline. Then I realized you used the R35 and not a 34! 👍

I wonder what lap times you'd get with a stock 34 in comparison with the R35?

Also note that stock cars come with different tires stock. That's why I still mention tires in my posts.

I'm on my way home from work now and I plan on giving it a go when I get there. We can set up a free run online and have a track day that'd be fun. Add me

I did some mods to the R35 SpecV, upgraded to Sports Soft, Exhaust & Intake and reduced weight and came out with a surprising 56.151. Was not expecting to go so fast with only a few mods.

Here's how the car currently looks:
