Season 2 will consist of a 12 race championship for Drivers and Owners/Teams, as well as championships for Rookie of the Year, Oval Racer of the Year, and Road Racer of the Year.

All races will be held on Saturday Afternoons, in a public lobby hosted by me. It is recommended (but not required) that you add "MULE_9242" to your friends list.

Races will be held Saturday afternoons at 16:30 UTC/GMT (12:30 PM EDT, 5:30 PM BST). Room will be open 1 hour before the race starts.

POINTS SCORING:

1st place - 20 points
2nd place - 18 points
3rd place - 16 points
4th place - 14 points
5th place - 12 points
6th place - 11 points
7th place - 10 points
8th place - 9 points
9th place - 8 points
10th place - 7 points
11th place - 6 points
12th place - 5 points
13th place - 4 points
14th place - 3 points
15th place - 2 points
16th place - 1 point

+1 point for earning the pole position during qualifying
+1 point for leading a lap
+1 point for leading the most laps on an oval
+1 point for the fastest lap on a road course

Rules and regulations:

  • Any NASCAR race car available in GT5 is allowed to participate. 2010 and 2011 models are both legal, GameStop Camry included.
  • Maximum power is restricted to 483 horsepower for ALL races using the Engine's Power Limiter function. Additionally, cars must be fitted with 25kg of ballast, for a weight of 1590 KG
  • Only Racing Hard tires will be permitted. No other tire compounds of any kind may be used at any time.
  • ABS is allowed, but All other driving aids (Active Steering, ASM, TCS, SRF, Driving Line) will be DISABLED on the race setup menu.
  • Mechanical and Visual damage is OFF
  • Fuel consumption and tire wear are ON
  • Grip Reduction is set to Real
  • Slipstream is set to Weak
  • Boost is Off (lol)
  • Mics will be kept On to aid in communication during the race
  • RACE CLEAN - It's OK (and expected) to let off of the gas (or even lightly brake) so you don't run over someone in a turn. This is especially true at oval tracks, where high-speed drafting can cause issues with drivers being spun out in corners.
  • No speed limit is enforced upon entering pit road. Be warned that GT5 can sometimes assess its own penalty for entering pit road too quickly, but it is entirely dependent on the track and where your pit box is located specifically. Please give other drivers space and courtesy to enter pit road safely.
  • While exiting pit road, every driver must remain in the single furthest inside lane. Drivers are not required to run the apron/service road until the back straightaway, but they are required to stay in the very inside lane when they do merge on to the racing surface. At Daytona, you must stay below the thick yellow line before merging up to the inside lane. On Road courses with a white line on the pit exit (Monza, Nurburgring, Suzuka), you must stay inside that white line
  • While cornering on road courses, two tires must remain completely on the tarmac/concrete/pavement at all times. Rumble strips are NOT considered part of the tarmac/concrete/pavement.
  • As above, At Daytona or SSRX, you are not allowed to drive below the yellow line on the apron in order to make a pass
  • NO CAUTIONS - use this as an extra motivation to RACE CLEAN.
  • Slight rubbing is inevitable, and is allowed, but intentionally spinning out or "punting" another driver is strictly prohibited. In the event that this happens, Point penalties may be assessed, or you may be excluded from the race results, depending on the situation and severity of the incident. Repeat offenders risk being disqualified from the championship.
  • Accidents happen. If you make a mistake which causes another racer in front of you to spin out, you must wait for them to rejoin the track, and allow them to overtake you before returning to race speed
  • If you are caught up in a wreck that happened in front of you, unfortunately, there is nothing we can do for you.
EXCEPTION: If somebody involved in an accident rejoins the track without regard for the position of others, and causes somebody to hit them, then they are subject to the same penalties as above, depending on intent.
  • If you have an issue with another driver, please send them a PM. If you cannot reach an agreement, contact a steward (MULE_9242, MustangRyan).
  • If you disconnect during the race, you will be marked with a DNF and receive last place points. Ragequitting for any reason will NOT be tolerated! You will be disqualified from the race and receive 0 points!
  • If you wish to retire from the race, drive your car into the pits, and press Start. The game will keep you in your pitbox until the end of the race.

QUALIFYING AND GRIDDING:

Qualifying:

-Qualifying will be held 20 minutes before the race, and last for 15 minutes, during which time, everyone will be allowed on track to set a lap
-If you cut the track at any time, you must abandon your lap and try again.
-If you are on your outlap and a faster car behind you is on a hotlap, please yield for him
-If you are on a hotlap, and a faster car behind you is on a hotlap, it is entirely at your discretion if you wish to yield or not. The faster car MAY NOT force his way around you in a way that may ruin your lap.
-You are not permitted to exit into the lobby at any time, for any reason. Stay on the track in a safe place, or stay in the pits. (This means no "Qualifying setups")
-At the end of the session I will type in the chat "Quali is over. Please finish your lap and go to the pits."
-I will exit and go into "watch race" mode, write down everyone's times.
-The driver with the fastest time will get 1 bonus point
-I will then get into the pits and start the race

Rolling starts:

-Every race (Except SSRX) will have a formation lap and rolling start
-If the grid order is wrong when the race starts, use this time to sort yourselves and get in order.
-Maintain a pace speed of 60 mph / 100 km/h
-Polesitter, and all odd cars will start on the inside of the track, even cars will start on the outside
-Absolutely no weaving on the formation lap; it does more harm than good
-Unless otherwise noted, the start line in the game will be where the polesitter accelerates
-Do not go full-throttle until the car infront goes. Jump starts may be assessed a point penalty

Championships explained:

Drivers championship:
  • After the 12 races, the driver with the most amount of pointswill be the champion.
  • The two lowest scoring rounds from a drivers total will be dropped, and their 10 best races used.
  • If there is a tie in points, the driver with the most wins will be declared champion.
  • Drivers registered for the Sprint Cup are ineligble for drivers points.
  • Drivers may be assessed point penalties throughout the season; therefore it is possible to have negative points

Teams championship:
  • This season, like last season will have 5 teams of 3 cars each (see below), for a total field of 15 cars per race.
  • Team owners are determined by the Sprint Cup Owners draft
  • Team owners have complete control over who drivers for them; if you are interested in joining, contact one of them
  • The top 2 cars from each team per race will score points towards the team chamionship
  • Sprint Cup drivers, though ineligible for drivers points, may still score Team points. after their third race, Sprint Cup drivers will not be able to score any points.
  • Bonus points scored by drivers do not count towards the Team Championship
  • On the other hand, all point penalties assessed to drivers will also be taken off his Teams point total.

Rookie of the Year:
  • All drivers who competed in no more than 4 Nationwide races last season, are classified as rookies
  • All Bonus points and Point penalties count towards the Rookie of the Year

Penalty System:
Instead of Time penalties, we will be exclusively using point penalties as discipline for illegal behavior. Point penalties count against both drivers points totals, and Team points totals.

Minor infractions - 1 point
-Repeated Accidental corner cuts (3-5)
-Reckless/Aggressive driving - not causing a collision (includes excessive blocking, dive-bombing, etc)
-Not following pit entrance/exit rules (crossing lines, etc.)
-Jumping the start
-Causing an avoidable collision - stopping and letting the affected drivers overtake you
-Passing out of bounds and not giving back the position
-Going into your tuning settings menu for any reason during qualifying

Minor infractions in 3 separate races will result in probation.

Moderate infractions - 3 points
-Repeated Accidental corner cuts (5-7)
-Causing an avoidable collision - not slowing to let affected drivers overtake you
-Rejoining track from out of bounds resulting in blocking/impeding race traffic (Includes pit exits)
-Illegal blocking/ignoring blue flag rule (Blue flag rules state that lapped drivers, in the same class, must do their best to allow the leaders an unobstructed racing line with which to overtake; applies mostly for road courses)

Moderate infractions in 2 separate races will result in probation

Severe infractions - 6 points + automatic probation
-Deliberately causing a collision
-Repeated accidental corner cuts (7 or more)
-Deliberate corner cuts
-Sustained aggressive/reckless driving
-Causing multiple avoidable collisions

Extreme infractions - Disqualification from race + suspension from 1 or more races (up to and including championship exclusion)
-Committing any infraction while on probation
-Deliberately causing multiple collisions (DaveMay from Season 1 Daytona race)
-Driving backwards on the track for any reason
-Multiple Deliberate corner cuts

If an Extreme infraction is noticed by the host, who is not racing, you will be immediately kicked from the room

Nationwide Power Rankings

1. TRYNOR88: Heading in to the new season, you can argue that it's the defending champ's to lose. Strong showings in the 3 preseason races he participated in, and with strong teammates and a very strong owner, Troy looks very dangerous. "To be the man, you gotta beat the man," and right now, Trynor is the man.
2. Spurgy777: Trynor's biggest competition, at least on the road courses, could come from Spurgy. Would have won the Nurburgring preseaon race if it wasn't for a late spin, and did win the Daytona race after rim riding for the last last.
3. OwensRacing: Another known ace on the road courses, who proved he has what it takes on an oval as well. Very strong 2nd at Indy, won Nurburgring, but got the worst of an early wreck at Motegi, which finds Jeff in 3rd.

Those are my preseason favourites. Everything else will fill out after next Sunday.

I'm also 18 and the team owner, but Mudd and Litchi on the SC side are already old guys. :grumpy:

Hopefully I can get another win in the season opener next week :) Good start so far to my GTP NASCAR career, getting used to running in the pack, the racing is quite different to road course racing :)

Mule what happened to R4 changing the Motegi road or Circuit de la Sarthe 2009. (I know I probs won't be racing due to evil mics but just thought I'd remind you :guilty:.)

I'm excited about my chances for my rookie season as well. I got into the wall a couple times which slowed me down, but still came out with a 5th place finish. This pack racing is crazy.

I realize I picked the two most cliche' drivers in my survey, but I honestly couldn't think of a non-NASCAR driver that I liked, so I just went with Senna.

You are looking at your GTP NASCAR Nationwide Series Season 2 champion. :sly:

I know it's going to happen, just wait. :sly:

Jeff's profile has been added. Just waiting for mustardaddict now.

If you're interested in taking the open seat at Roush, feel free to drop me a PM. I'll be looking at all of my options before making a decision.

And about the whole SSRX/Le Mans/Motegi Road thing: i donno lol :(

Hello id like participate in the NASCAR series im a rule abiding racer and the series looks pretty fun ive raced with smuffy many times and spectated a few of the nationwide races
would it be too late to join thanks in advance

I think you should go to Motegi road Mule :).

I understand what I did was wrong. I accept being put on probation. I would still love a shot at the championship if someone will give me the chance.

It looks like the only open seat left is Mule, so I would fire him a PM quick mate.

Alternatively be a reserve, just show up every week and see if there is a seat free. There usually is through other commitments for drivers.

There is 1 seat left, but I think you may be better off starting in the Truck series. Anyone can join that without having to worry about teams.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=258931

I think my best bets would to be a reserve, im not too keen on the trucks as my main interests are in the cars though i appreciate the offer thanks.
conbon14

Way I see it, Trucks are a way tougher series than NW or even SC.

It's somewhat easy to lose draft just by clipping the wall, and fuel/tire wear is a lot greater too.

Finally getting around to watching the reply and it turns out that the lap 1 crash wasn't actually due to lag, but someone being a bonehead and trying to go 3 wide in the middle of the turn and ending up hooking smuffy.

I won't hand out any infractions for this race, but let this be a warning for everyone; stupid moves that cause crashes will be penalized. I want everyone to be as clean as possible, no exceptions.

EDIT: and the same guy caused a wreck on lap 13 as well. But at least that one was more 50/50.
