I've wondered what it would be like to sit in my car with a playstation controller instead of a wheel, gearshift, and pedals... I also liked his Ferrari comments :-)

"According to the maker of the game, “some car makers want more money to be featured than all the rest of the car makers put together”. Sadly, his mobile went dead before I could confirm it was indeed the Eyeties. Technology, eh? So I rang a Ferrari spokesman who explained that his company was fantastically litigious and protective of the cars, the racers and even the noises they make. And that they already have a deal with EA Games. Well, that’s complete and utter madness, because as a result my nine-year-old is growing up wanting a Honda NSX."

Haha. Madness indeed!

You'd certainly be able to react faster, and probably get around a track faster. The only problem is bracing yourself in turns, as I usually hang onto the wheel for dear life on my vinyl bench seat :D Plus, no more driving with one hand :( You can't eat or hang your arm out the window while driving :(

well, if you had a long enough cord you could sit on the hood driving. that'd be sweet!

iirc, fifth gear had a go when it came out, and the presenter and creator of the game went head to head, and he said the same thing.. now this is all on a PS2.. on the ps3 GT5 will be unreal, i cant begin to imagine the possibilities.. shame ill be a broke ass student.. ill have to get along with some rich person whos into GT

Good Read thanks for sharing. @ Ferrari "READ THAT ARTICLE AND LOWER YOUR PRICE AND SCRAP EA"

Well I don't really get his point. Sometimes, traction is not accurate. Sometimes, body-roll is realistic. Is he saying GT is semi-real?

Great article!

When I was reading it I couldn't help being dramatic at the end of the sentences............just like he does!

He's right about people getting impressions of cars from the game. All the time I hear people saying this car is better than that car etc. all because of the way it is protrayed in GT4. A cars greatness all comes down to the driver. A supercar can be useless in the wrong hands, and a well driven Vectra could beat it around a track given the right combination of drivers.

It's interesting to hear from someone who has driven most of the cars in RL and to hear how he thinks the cars have been replicated very well. He makes note of the differences between the two Mercs:
Jeremy Clarkson
... they’ve even managed to accurately reflect the differences between a Mercedes SL 600 and the Mercedes SL 55, which is hard enough to do in real life.
and this confirms the level of detail we've all come to know and love from GT4.

A good read, and I thank you Gabkicks for posting up the link.

PS: Obviously I'm pissed about the lack of Ferrari's as well, but that'll have to wait for another thread...

:)

I noticed a few breaking pts were off when i watched the evo8mr onboard cam best motoring video, but i dont remember which turn. most of the time you will see drivers breaking much later in real life.

 to this article. I may find J.C. a bit of an ass most of the time, but he really really does know what he's talking about.

Yeah, James May is great, too, but he's not as lovably hateable as Clarkson.

I think it's a testament to the amount of work that went into GT4 that a non-gamer found it so accurate. I particularly like this:

There’s more, too. If you take a banked curve in the Bentley Le Mans car flat out, you’ll be fine. If you back off, even a little bit, you lose the aerodynamic grip and end up spinning.

Not many people would realize that on starting the game. A true car guy, that one.

Interesting about the DS2 instead of pedals and wheel in a real car.. Haha, can you imagine! :dopey:

I've often thought about how cool that would be - then I get to thinking...

Why on earth would I want to put a DS2 in my real car, when I just dropped a chunk of change to get a Wheel for my Playstation?

WFT?!?

Very nice article, and EA hasnt had ferraris for ages now, WTF is Ferrari doing??. Nissan has GTR's and 350z with EA and GT4.

i think EA made it so that it would be very expensive for ferrari to be in other games. of course Microsoft isnt exactly in financial trouble so ferrari is in project gotham. Sony just got finnished with a lawsuit with Immersion plus gta SA has just been rated AO.

A Ferrari is too exclusive to be seen the same game as a Ford Ka. That's why you can get one in NFS, but not in GT... :indiff:
