To the guy who said gamespot made hot coffee for the PS2:

Bull****. The same guy who enabled it for the PC did it for the PS2 and XBox. Gamespot has been spreading a lot of bull**** lately, they even doubted hot coffee's existence. All in all they are the ones to blame for publicizing it to the point that many people start protesting against rockstar.

bleh i guess it doesnt really affect me because im still pleasuring CJ's girlfriend.

Of course, but it also means she's a good driver and she doesn't think jeremy is as good as he thinks he is. It's just interesting to see a perspective from somebody who doesn't care about his fame when evaluating his skill.

Nobody has ever suggested he's a good driver, least of all himself. He's a motoring journalist (and a damn good one), not a profesional racing driver.

So it's her home track, of course she would be faster!

Yeah, sure she will be faster!

Sabine did untill now, drive somewhere between 10.000 and 15.000 Laps at The Nordschleife!!!! :nervous:

I think Jeremy did well!! 👍

That's a huge time differential though. Methinks Jeremy must have been holding back, and how can he know that a certain braking point is way off if he's not very good at the track? Either he's familiar enough with it to run a competitive lap and know where the braking points are, or he's not familiar enough with it to know where to brake to run fast, and might have the braking points all wrong. Not saying anything against him, just seems like he's not that familiar with the track, or else he should've at least been able to run closer to her time in such a slow car.

Ah yeah, this article. I'll be honest, I expected Jeremy to somehow (or obvioulsy) give a bad review of GT4, I was suprised to say the least, I mean okay, Jeremy ain't the best driver, but I think he's good, epsically for his age (and I can't believe Richard and James aren't good with drifting at all... I mean okay maybe for James... maybe... at least for Richard... maybe after his run with the Monaro... he'll get better for Fall... who knows), too bad about his back, it sure heck sucks, hope he does heal.

I did see the recent Top gear episode, (if anyone hasen't don't read any futher on this post even though others have already said it but still...), I was suprised too to see D1, usually that would be for BMI or something else, not to mention how well the Monaro drifted, not just for the D1 guy but even Hammond... although I liked how it was done with the D1 driver, not ot mention the drifting done before and afterward.

My only thing is this... since Rhys Millen uses the GTO which is the Monaro as well, it would have been something to see that GTO/Monaro go along with the other D1 drivers since less I missed a book, Rhys is also a D1 driver, and is just as good as the best (IMO anywho). But anyho, just me.

That was a suprise, who knows what else will happen?...

Anywho, I know GT4 has it's flaws, but well, that review gives the game some credibility, even though again, Jeremy is not the best driver, but is good (which can either be good or bad far as the Top gear driver roster is excluding Stig whom is very good). Good review in my opinion, and typical Jeremy favor :), gota love (to hate for some) him, Richard and James.

I'm sure I missed something but oh well, till later.

Well, even if he's not the best driver, he definitely knows cars. A hell of a lot better than 99% of the people out there. If he says they got it right, then I'm inclined to think they got it right. :)

What happened to his back? We dont get his show out here, so the only times "ive heard of him are when his name pops up in various car mags I get or sites like this.

Look up Top Gear on racingflix.com or download the shows at www.viper007bond.com (warning, huge files). Jeremy Clarkson and Top Gear have been a mainstay on the BBC channel for years, and most cable networks outside the US carry it. I think Discovery in the US has it, but mostly old shows.

Unfortunately, you can't download off viper007bond.com anymore since they got a complaint from BBC. Here's the link about it:

http://www.finalgear.com/news/2005/06/01/well-we-got-a-cease-desist-for-top-gear/

(Note: Final Gear is owned by the same person as the viper007bond.com website.)

Otherwise you can try finding torrents online or downloading it from www.jabbasworld.net. You must have posted many times in its forum to be able to download from jabbasworld though.

If you can find it available online, I recommand downloading it and watch it if you haven't already. Great show. 👍

A really good article. Anyone else read any of the driving suppliments in the times on Sunday. Clarkson usually reviews a car each week. The only thing he didn't really talk about was the actual racing bit of it. Don't get me wrong I love GT4 but it would be nice to know what he thought of the AI drivers.

Good review. Im surprised he was so praise worthy of it. GT is a damn good game, but has some serious flaws as well, like all console "sims" have had.

Anyway I would like to see him or some knowledgeable(sp) person review both Forza and GT4. I have yet to see that anywhere, it's all very well for game reviews to claim one is better than the other, but I would really like someone who knows what they are talking about to properly review both games. Maybe I should email The Times.
He cleary doesnt know about the existance of Forza, or has never played it as he would know that its not just EA who have the Ferrari Licence :)

Anyway for Clarkson to be so praiseworthy says a lot for the game.

Oh and I believe Sabine Schmidt holds the out right lap record at Nurb.

Did anyone see her trying to beat (10 mins I think) In a Transit (or similar) van on Top Gear, was funny as hell.

Thanks for the link to the article, nice validation of GT's similarity to RL... I also expected Clarkson to be much less positive... Sounds like he didn't play it with the DFP though...:(

I used to get Top Gear episodes from sleepyfish when that site had them, but now I find the odd new episode on limewire... I really love the show and Clarkson is very funny in a whinging pom overly dramatic kinda way. Somehow I still respect him :D

Sorry doblo, I had to remove that link in your thread... if the BBC are complaining about people downloading their episodes, then we shouldn't be linking to them here really..

I think the all time record was Stefan Beloff in a Porsche 956 at about 6m11s back in the '83 on the old circuit. let me go look.....

check this site out for some laptimes:
http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?viewThread=y&gID=3&fID=0&tID=10073

including Sabine's 10:08 in the Tranny Van!

which nurburgring circuit do we have on GT4, is it the 20.6km?

It would appear that Stefan Bellof has the fastest lap (also on another site), but maybe thats lap times set during race weekends, as it was set during a race. I was sure she had the fastest time, maybe un-official?

yes. and i dont think anyone will be beating his time for a long time. Sabine enjoys life too much to get near his time :D

Now I know why Ferrari was never in GT.
Sony would have had to pay Ferrari (and probably Porsche) millions of dollars just to come up with a licensing agreement. This is probably because of their exclusive license deal with EA. If they did do this, Sony wouldn't make much profit off of GT4 (and the game already costs millions of dollars to produce.)

And I also have figured out somewhat how Microsoft got Ferraris and Porsches into PGR and Forza. They would also have had to pay millions of dollars to get a deal, but since they have billions and billions and billions of dollars, they were more than able to pay the money. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Jeremy's article on GT4 has definitely shown me how realistic the game is, and why I can't drive an Enzo or a Carrera GT.

Not to mention she probably won't have access to the kind of equipment needed to beat the record, and she's almost certainly not as good as Bellof

Depends on where. On some random race track somewhere else, you may be right. On the 'Ring? There's no one better. It's my belief that Sabine could beat anyone's time on the 'Ring, if she were given the same vehicle and enough time to familarize herself with it. I don't think anyone else on this planet could have gotten a Ford Transit around that track in 10:08.

Millen happens to be an ex rally driver, no wonder hes very good at drifting.

wow, regarding to the article, gt4 proves that its a good way to advertise a carmakers new and existing cars.

I could name a couple...Dirk Schoysman and perhaps Walter Rohrl. She may have done a lot of laps, but seat time doesn't necessarily make her the best.

GTA:SA for the PC has been rated AO... the one on PS2 hasn't changed it's rating as it's unable to be modified (with Hot Coffee)... I'd imagine that this might be a good thing for Sony as for instance you cannot buy SA for PC in Australia now.

Not in my neck of the woods.

AO sticker on the rental games. Dumbass politicians.

Let's hope the wowsers on the Australian Censorship Board don't discover the naked boobies in GT4 or they will try and ban that too - according to them they are only a reflection of societies standards, does that mean it is socially acceptable for me go home and beat my wife to death with a baseball bat but not to have sex with her?? 🤬 wowsers
