I think from Sport on, the emphasis will be more towards competition than collecting.
Not necessarily a bad thing even tho I barely ever race sport mode races, but my son(6) wants to start a time trial comp, and I’ll let him have that.
@TheCracker : thanks for chiming in. Playing with adaptative triggers since GT Sport. Using TC1 and CSA.
Then you have done the impossible, my friend. Adaptive triggers were first introduced for GT7, not GTS ;)
Considering it's meant to be a big 'advert' for the game, they don't make it easy to find for us GT7 players - I found the trailer and clicked the button 'Play Game' but it launched GT7 :ouch: I could only then find it by manually searching the PS Store for 'Gran'...
At least you found it. My PS5 didn’t find anything no matter how many words or letters I used to search. I had to download it via the PS App on my phone :banghead:
Why would you guys want a demo for a game you already have(and halfway even like)??????
Beats grinding the same events we have since forever. I can’t say nothing as this game is reserved my son until he finishes it.

Is there going to be a separate thread area here like you have for the older GTs or will it just be random threads here under the GT7 folder?

That makes more sense. But really? You started with triggers in GT Sport? I did that in 2005 in GT4. Remember how every button was pressure sensitive on the Dualshock 2?
Come on give me a break, I know people who are using the direction pad and X and square on GT7, I am living in the future compared to them.

And maybe I used triggers in GT4, I am not even sure I had this game (GT1-2-3 sure, 6 too, GTS, GT7, other than that is a blurry mist)

It’s all down to preference, I didn’t mean to mock you
I don't see the purpose of grinding at all so, here or there.....its the same thing.
It’s not the same thing. MFGT gives a prize once, like those missions in GT7. Who would want to do those multiple times when you don’t get Cr. for it more than once?

If we speak pure purpose. How else could you afford multiple 20m+ cars? By racing each race only once? You’d need to repeat. Or else it’ll take forever. I got the last car in the trio for the PS Trophy recently, and I played since day 1 and I play a lot when I play (I do more liveries than I race, though).

I just do the daily workouts, weekly challenges(I guess that COULD be considered 'grinding'), time attacks and the odd new event. I strech them out to get more daily workouts tickets. Theres no imminent deadline to get these multiple 20m cars and you dont even get a trophy for collecting all the cars, just 3 historic cars, so whats the rush or urgency to do so? If those demo tickets are any indication, we have at least 4 more years to get everything. Personally, I dont even want to drive all of the big ticket cars and I rather have my name on top of a TT ranking than say I've got all the cars. Especially, if I only got them by winning the same race over and over. I mean did you really accomplish anything?

With that being said, how long do you guys that into to that think it SHOULD take to collect every car in the game?

Just completed the demo and here is my personal opinion about it.
First of all: to find the demo, i went to the store on my PS5Pro and then just typed in "My". Got it immediately.

Now it's fairly difficult to judge a demo that is directed to people who are a GT "Beginner" or who are doubting to buy the game. So as a GT fan i think this is a really really standard demo that actually doesn't do GT7 justice as a full game.

It's in fact the end movie that would convince me to maybe buy GT7, which is weird to say because you would think you want to play a game for it's gameplay.

Also: why aren't the following features not included in the demo in one way or the other:

  • variable weather. A feature that was heavily marketed with the release of the full game. They could at last had a race in the rain for example in the demo.
  • Customization and tuning is one of the most fun things in GT7, nothing included in the demo. At least give us some customization options for one car for example.
  • GT Sophy: big announcement when it came to GT7. Not even possible to try a race in the demo.
  • Scapes: put a couple places in the demo, some options to modify your picture and let people try it out.

Before i get all the hate for my opinion: i know it's just a demo. It's just weird to me that you want to advertize an almost 3 year old game to buy, but most features are not present in the demo but in a video if you complete the demo.

So once again: if i didn't know GT7 existed and i played this demo as a completely noob, the end video would have my attention. Apart from the licenses, nothing really stands out to convince me to buy this game.

At least i now have 18 cars extra in my garage :D

A as my daughter would say "cute" little demo/mini game.

Wether it really leans on heritage or more of a GT for the masses reboot I'm not sure.

As a seasoned player it was fun, but apart from licence novelty tests it's BAU for most of us here.

Being candid but from a this is not my first GT game, I can see some of the appeal as it's simple, repeatable and focused and younger Glen would struggle getting golds on a couple of those tests with a controller and AT. So there is some challenge there. Which is compelling.

Ironically I don't think it showcases the best of the game but that's opinion rather fact.

Overall a short demo for some, enough racing for others, a difficulty barrier in some things for new players. I think they ticked the box they wanted to. This was not aimed at me or you who are vested in the game and community.

I do wonder in the age of NFS and those other exciting drift type games how this will land, the mechanics are better but the fun has to be self driven to improve and drive better where as other games emphasize different aspects of driving.

Not gonna rate or say anymore about it, it's not an expansion or DLC for us it's just a teaser mini game and that is fine

You don't think your opinion could skewed by the fact that you have been playing the game for years and know what the full game has to offer?

I'd enjoy Music Rally more if I could switch the music off.

That said, the first two are pretty good fun - the William Tell track is something of a homage to Wendy Carlos/A Clockwork Orange, and 'When The Saints Go Marching In' is just a great piece of music, albeit certainly not my choice for an advertising campaign to attract new players to Gran Turismo!

However, the last one - 'Moon Over The Castle' is just too loud...

I can't hear the engine noises, making me reliant on the display for gear changes. Also, in my preferred view (bonnet cam), the timing bar obscures the apexes of the corners in the Kyoto Music Rally. I'm going to bed.

It was a nice experience playing through the demo and getting all of the cars sent over to GT7. Just found a few of the license gold times a bit annoying to chase.

Was lovely to see the car selection screen for the Races with the car stats on the side. Didn't realise how much I missed that til I saw it properly again, but it fits a game like GT perfectly.

Unfortunately the races are just chase the rabbit nonsense. But there's some tremendous aura persisting in that little selection screen.

I don't think either... between crappy cars and more sporty ones with rubberband suspensions and wooden tyres, I think it does not display a good sample of the extent of cars we find in the game.

Opinion skewed or better knowledge of what the game can offer ? IMHO the demo does not showcase the best bits (kind of the opposite in fact)

100% plus I found the musics really bad.
albeit certainly not my choice for an advertising campaign to attract new players to Gran Turismo!
I don't see who will be attracted by Wish versions of classical or big band music.

Well maybe, as i said in the beginning of my post, it's not easy to judge/review the demo out of a standpoint of someone who played GT games for years.
Now for me personally even with the GT knowledge i have i can only say that the end movie stands out to me. That's the piece of the demo that interests me. But lots of those things that you see in the end movie are not present in the demo.

Now you could say, job well done, because now i should buy the game to get to experience those things ingame. On the other side you want to showcase your game to it's full potential, so maybe the demo could have been better for new people if they got to experience a little bit more why GT games are so fun. The option to customize a car for example.

Now the demo will do it's job, i'm sure. I'm happy i got to experience it, add 18 cars to my existing garage in the main game and further more we can only hope that PD keeps improving GT7 and pumping out many updates in the coming years for the veteran players but also for the people that now maybe are convinced to invest their time in this game.

If the demo is geared toward getting new players, in order to have the same perciption as a new player he would have to forget everything he knows about the game, as a new player wouldn't know what the best bits are. Thats is physically impossible. Thats why blind/double blind experiments are a thing.

The demo is not put up by a player who knows nothing about the game but by the developer of the game. I imagine they would want to give a glimpse of everything cool in their game. And I think they did not a very good job.

It's not for us, it's for the players opposite to us. When I started playing games it was on 5 1/4 inch floppies!

There was share ware etc

This isn't a game we should even be talking about as we are all invested in the whole journey, but as a Xmas present for Timmy who's getting his first console and this is free. It's ok.

I think its more like a (good)movie trailer. You give just enought to peak interest without giving away the good part. The ending movie is like and extended trailer. Its gives you the idea and lets you know theres even more to the movie than what was originally shown.

Poor Timmy will have to endure Grandpa's music, pass his license, drive grandma's car, and maybe after that will be allowed to have fun 😅
Well, I do mostly daily races and cup races...I'd rather Timmy learned to brake... before Timmy has fun...I meet enough Timmy's daily ;) 🤣😝

Well before ruining others races (except that I think that with your DR you won't meet Timmy soon), there are plenty of fun things to do in GT7.

Let's say MFGT was available before GT7's launch and after the first trailers, I wouldn't have preordered the 25th Anniversary Edition of GT7, and certainly not purchased a PS5 specialy for this game. Let's be honest though, it took me quite a while before I could get my hands on a PS5..

I’m not into collecting every single one either, I have many duplicates which could’ve been dropped to save for more expensive cars. I like widebody and engine swaps but also "stock" cars so I’d rather have two of every sub 700pp car than all the expensive ones. I was just stating my side of it, I don’t always remember to do the time trials(and if it’s not very easy I rarely get more than silver, 4-5s or so behind leaders on average). And daily tickets usually give me 10k.. 🫠 the rest of the races are all done, sure I can always finish the circuit experience but aint got time or patience for that when I’m sooo close to gold but yet so far out of reach. I’m no slow player but dang it I’m not that fast either.
Not sure how the demo tickets of cars we got within a week of the full games release is an indication of 4 more years of support that’s just my opinion.

I thought that was the meaning of music rally. Listen to the (awful) music and not so much the engine noises  it punishes those of us that drive stick, that’s for sure.

Amen brother. Damn scalpers. However GT was and always has been the reason for any of my PS purchases. :D
