Id vote for no grass , sorry i havent been around much

Got work again today , ill be back home in 5 hrs if anyone needs a steward

Hi Guys ,

Room Open , i had connection issues last night when hosting a room which crashed . 1472-6399-8880-6892-9712 - Room Open

What room number is currently up?

No rooms open at the moment. I should be back on in a couple of hours, but not many people have qualified yet. So I imagine someone will be opening another room soon.

Ghostdrivers qualifying lap was a 1:58.144. Possibly dirty. I will upload some pictures shortly to get people's opinion.
(Observed by jash, but the game wouldn't allow him to save the replay)

Same event, just from 2 different angles.

Is this dirty or clean?

Going to be difficult to keep on top of these in the race!

Well itstouching the grass so its a dirty lap. Still think we should make an exception for this track.

yep, dirty.

And using the entire pad is already making an exception. The car is 4 wheels and 1/2 a car width behind the white line.

for me it's dirty, because it'll be too difficult to say dirty or not for each run, we have said grass is dirty...
Next time i hope we can touch grass in this f... chicanes !!

Has anyone who suggested this rule actually tried it in these GT cars? It's a joke, trying to do a "clean" lap is a lottery now.

I appreciate something should have been covered before today, but it's about as "dirty" as how were allowed to have 2 wheels on the grass and 2 on the kerb at the final chicane at Nurburgring GP/F - it's no different.

Sorry but just saying it like it is - shouldn't change things last minute, don't see why I should have to re-do my quali lap or suffer a massive penalty if I don't. I wasn't planning on being on GT today until the race this evening, wasting my day with this. We have all week to do quali so let's act like it?

Me saying yesterday that using it as a curb was just how I felt was best for this track. But higher power have spoken lol

Ok, so we call ghosts lap dirty. And maybe keep with this in qualifying, no grass allowed whatsoever.

But i think i speak for everyone here, there is no way i will do 23 laps of this circuit without doing a few dirty chicanes. we will all get penalties and someone is gonna have to spend hours looking at the replay. Also, the only person opposing use of the grass isnt even racing tonight...

btw what's the penalty here like 1%? or 1/2 of 1%? (which is .6 per minute)

And it sounds like you guys want to use the grass, so go ahead. Skeng and I seem to be outnumbered and we're not driving.

You guys are both higher powers. Eddie asked you to help steward. And since you, andil, and jash are all driving that overrules those of us that aren't.

Ok, I'm ok with not to redo my q but Lozza an ghost might wanna do it again? Because as Lozza said there will be many dirty laps in the race.

Yeah, if they were trying to stay off the grass they can go ahead and re-run.
I'll add the times from yesterday.

I always thought it was 2%, maybe I'm wrong - but on a 2min+ lap it's a huge penalty regardless of what it is really. Based on my practice just now, I'll be more likely to end up with a slower dirty lap than I am to end up with a 'clean' lap by using the "no grass" rule. It's like trying to thread through the eye of a needle in a GT300 car, I dread to think what it's like in a GT500.

Cheers Tim. Don't want to be a grumpy bastard but I had other plans for today than trying to re-do my quali and I think others will be pulling their hair out too :lol:

Re: Start Position - there is a slow 90 degree left mid-way through the lap. After it is a very long straight, we could use that for the start? Although it does lead directly into the triple-chicane after it.

Might as well bring up that discussion on where to start. Caution needed from everyone if we start from start/finish line. Dangdouble post :/

Totally understand, this should have been addressed a really long time ago. Eddie forgot to spell out the penalty in the OP, usually we do 2% on short tracks 1% on long tracks and 0.5% on Spa. I would consider this a "long track" so here we'll use 1%.

Yeah, I think it almost has to be after the turn2 left hander at pit exit. Or do a grid start (this is a single class race after all so all the cars are equal)? The start line worked ok in FMSC from a standing start. But those cars are also very slow. We can take a look at it while practicing in quali rooms. I'll be opening up a room in a bit.

Times are all up

To clarify, now that it has been fully vetted and we're going with the grassy knoll on the chicanes by majority opinion. These are all eligible for a re-run at the driver's discretion. The times are all "clean" by the relaxed track boundary so if you want to keep your time you don't have to re-qualify.

@GTPGhost 1:58.144
@lozzaiscool 1.57.020
@basse101 2.00.234

Im fine with not re-qualifying. I dont think we have many people racing in the 500's anyway. So it wont make much difference where i start :) Only seen Ghost, jash, Basse and me testing so far. 4 cars. If more drivers are set to race i will take the re-run.

Regarding the start, i think we should just use the normal start line. We could use a single file rolling start to space things out a bit. Wherever we start there is some kind of hazard
