Well it looks like everyone had issues yesterday. I couldn't join as we had loss of power where I live for the last 16 hours because of snow+ice rain falling for the last two days which meant it ripped some of the electric cables around the area.

Shame was really hoping to race yesterday I was also quite fast in practice here...

Bad luck Lozza for the Dc, looks like we got some work to do again in team championship.

Oof... that's not a nice start. Is there anything we can do to prevent that? e.g. a voted Restart? I know we were running late already in this case.

I think if we all try to join the room a bit earlier, aim for half an hour before the race start time, it would help. Then we can make sure the connection is good and get all the rejoins out the way for people who can't see eachother. And definitely turn down race quality to 3 stars. That was a 5 star room, which I don't think helped us at all :)

The recommended setting is specific to a persons internet speeds. Mine for example recommends 5 stars, but when I had my old internet it only recommended 3 stars. I think we may need to use 3 when racing with people from all over the world with different internet speeds etc. I haven't done any practice for ascari yet, so no times! Looking forward to it. It's a great drivers circuit!

@Wardez has the OP set to:

  • Room Mode - Practice/Race
  • Room Privacy - Public
  • Race Quality - Very High
  • Voice Chat Quality - Disabled
  • Fixed Room Host - Unfixed
  • Maximum Number of Participants - 16
So if it was set that way the host did their job. We've always used "High" in the past though... not sure why he chose the full monty for this one. We've never had issues with that setting and in the past where we saw differences between grip on "standard" vs "high" but not "high" vs "very high". So I would say turn it down to the old faithful "High" until Eddie gets back from vacation and then we can find out if there is a need for the higher room quality.

Ok, I didn't see this in the OP :) iv never known this setting to cause any big issues before either, but there is clearly something going on that's causing problems. Just thought it would be worth trying. If 3 stars does change the driving characteristics then yeah we should definitely stick to 4!

It did in GT5 so I'm assuming it will in GT6; seems like the same servers and network code under the hood. Though it hasn't really been tested. The general rule for GT5 was "Standard + VOIP" or "High with no mic". And the "hosts" network connection has very little to do with it. So long as it's hard wired an low latency a ~1mb upstream is easily enough. You only need a fat pipe if you're running fixed host.

Just a thought since we're at Ascari this week - what should we do about the start position? I would think the startline is not suitable because of the tight chicane immediately afterwards?

Yeah this track really isn't designed for close racing in GT cars! :) We could maybe start before the final sweeping right hand turn. But then we all arrive at the chicane at full speed, which could also be dangerous! :) other option is a standing start...

There is the long straight just after that 90 degree left, about half way round the circuit. We could use that?

Alternatively we could just use the normal start line but agree to not overtake until through the chicane. I'd still expect problems if we do that though.

Mi opinion is to ditch Ascary all together lol

I think we would be ok starting at the normal line to be honest. We all now how to drive carefully on lap 1. We could maybe use a single file rolling start rather than the usual double file start. This would help to space things out a bit into the first chicane.

Lol, i agree we probably shouldn't race here. But I think the idea was to race on all of the new tracks! You never know, it might be a great race!

allowed or forbidden ?
