Race 7: March 28th, 2014 - 3 30 Minute Races - Junior Rides Come First

Round 1

Track:
Silverstone Grand Prix
Car: RedBull Junior Car
Laps: 16
Tires: Racing Softs
Damage: Light

Round 2

Track: Suzuka Circuit
Car: RedBull Junior Car
Laps: 16
Tires: Racing Softs
Damage: Heavy

Round 3

Track: Twin Ring Motegi East Course
Car: RedBull Junior Car
Laps: 24
Tires: Racing Softs
Damage: Light

Notes: Due to some peeps here not wanting to run the Motegi course again as we just ran it last week in the Enduro Series, a compromise was made (mic and I did some testing there and it was fun, the chicanes can be run full throttle :dopey:) and decided to still run Motegi, but the East Course instead of the full course.

Also, we MAY have figured out how to avoid the tuning prohibited problem. If you can already get on track, then great. But if for some reason you can't, buy a new Junior Red Bull ($200,000) but DO NOT go into the car settings menu. You may not be able to change the brake balance unfortunately because of this, but it seems to be the only work around for the problem (for right now at least). Mic couldn't get initially get onto the track with his car. So he bought a new Junior and noticed when he tried to go into the settings, it wouldn't let him on track afterwards, even if he didn't change anything. When he bought a third car and didn't go into the settings, he was able to get on track fine. My stupid brain doesn't comprehend brake balance changes, so I never go into the settings myself anyway, and was able to get on track fine all the time. So just a heads up.

Hopefully be able to get on with you guys tonight..... do have the JR ready to go..... went with the yellow car. Just wish I could paint it up in my metallic blue though.......

What's better than having 1 Redbull Jr.?

2 REDBULL JR's! :P

It's another one of my "maintenance" Friday's tonight... which basically means I have to do some remote work starting at 9pm Eastern... but hopefully I'll bang it out all quick-like and be ready to go. At the very worst I may miss race 1... but I'm excited to finally race the juniors online, damn dammit!

If the RA function worked online, this wouldn't really be a problem... Oh well.

I wonder if Racing has a white one... Both johnsom and I do. Team Canada?

I'll be hosting tonight. Will open the room around 9ish for those who want to practice ahead of the race. I'll probably be AFK until around 9:40 or so, as usual.

Managed to somehow get disconnected from my own room, so Bionic is technically the "room host" now. I'll still annoy everyone before qualifying and the race with my annoying rambling of the first turn rule, no dive bombing, etc...

I think i will join tonight. Seeing how i won't be racing tomorrow, should be a good one tonight. :)

Edit: I don't think, i will join tonight.

Sorry I had to drop out at suzuka. I got popped in the first turn and then my sound went wacko and I couldn't hear anything but strange popping static.

Stay safe @euclid58 and @boxerman :nervous:

Sorry if I over reacted a little during the earthquake, I've never been that close to the epicenter of one like that.
At my place the walls were flexing pretty bad. I just remember looking across the living room up by the ceiling and saw a lot of vertical movement up and down. How much I don't know, but a lot of flexing. (no pun intended).
I was just mainly worried about if the intensity increased more, which happens sometimes.

Glad you didn't end up the news euclid..
I've only felt an earthquake once. About two years ago. Nothing as intense as you had. Just stuff rattling on the shelves alitte. Their far and few between in WNC.
There is fault that runs thru the black mountain,Swannanoa area but it's not very active.
Is that you in your avatar?

Congrats to the winners lastnight. I hope I'll be able to make some of these by summer.

Hey all.... Really enjoyed running with y'all last night. Just shows me one thing...... I definitely need more practice, LOL. Also; I would like to apologize to anyone who I may have wrecked last night. Hopefully will be allowed back in this upcoming Friday to run with you guys a little more. BTW, what cars are we going with?

Hey euclid, it was nice to meet up with you for our date last night but I'm afraid the earth didn't move for me! How about you? :nervous:

Seriously though, I'm glad you guys close to the action are ok.

Unfortunately, I couldn't stay around for the last race last night as it was very late this side of the Atlantic. Junior is a fun car to race with good drivers around you.

After a decent qualy in the race 1, I messed up when I kept the hammer down through turn one and found myself in 1st place forgetting the rule to hold position. When I realised my error I kinda panicked and looked to get out of the way as soon as possible. I probably would have been better off waiting to let the lads through on the first straight. Either way, it was an enjoyable night's racing and I look forward to meeting up with you all again soon.

Yea I felt that earthquake too from where I am. The epicenter was in Virginia I believe. But like yours it was just some rattling

When you see walls moving, I can understand that you might freak out a little bit. I know I would. I've only been in one earthquake here in Indiana, but it wasn't very strong and we were pretty far away from the epicenter. It woke us all up in the middle of the night, and shook every so slightly. Was kind of fun, actually. So, fun if it's small and not near you, but likely terrifying when larger (5.3 isn't exactly small) and you're right at the center of it.

Practice, practice, practice. You'll get better with time. Of course you're welcome to come back next week. We're running the Nurb, so I seriously doubt you'll be getting in anyone's way with how long the track is. All I know for now is that we're running the Delta Wing in the first race. Phish hasn't posted the other cars yet. I PM'd him to see what his plans were.

Thanks Randy.

 You know what they say.. always the bridesmaid, but never the bride.
Just another slightly ragged grip race performance for me again.
It's coming slowly though, and I still had a blast.
I greatly enjoy racing with all you guys.

Thanks D.

I had lunch with my ex and youngest son Sam today and told them how I over estimated the magnitude of this one.
And she just rolls eyes and says...that's because you slept through the Northridge quake, and I had to ride the damn thing out by myself.

Hey Diggs, don't forget that in high damage races, if you have heavy damage you can pit and repair your car.
When you come back out your car is like new with fresh tires. Its a bummer when that happens, because all you can think about is how much time you'll lose.. But trust me you will get back to where your damaged car would have been very quickly, and get farther up than you would have otherwise. If your car is just lightly damaged, then it becomes a judgement call. I had right rear suspension damage for roughly half of R2, but I was able to just keep going.

Also.. the mindset should be that wrecks are not an option. Last night I drove off the track to avoid bumping someone.
I misjudged the braking zone for the final chicane, and I'm sitting there with the brakes firewalled thinking.. this aint happening. So I turned left and parked it in the gravel. Its the way it goes sometimes, and we all make mistakes.

No worries, the more track time you get.. the better it gets.👍

Exactly what happened to me and what i did during the 2nd race... I managed to gain few more places after i got core damaged on 2nd lap. When i came out of the pits the car felt great!
