Congrats go out to our new member Chocochocochip! Or as we know him, chocobo

Well done grabbing the overall victory 👍
Thanks! My first two race weekends in TRL have been lots of fun, and this weekend looks to be even more. Speaking of this weekend, is the race one single 120 lap event? Or is it broken down 60+60?

Half mil maybe. Not exactly sure. Sure would be nice to see another redneck there Saturday night. I feel so alone sometimes:lol:

The races start at a bad time for me. I'm usually getting the kids to bed between 10-11 on my off days. I'll try and make it but who knows

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this week is the 2 Hour Tsukuba, correct?
Started writing this yesterday before it was confirmed

Also, I'm building an idea that I'm wondering if Turtles would be interested in... Perhaps as a one off from our usual events... Perhaps pull some publicity for the league... Perhaps just be a lot of fun?

A 2 night (so starting with FLEX on Friday, @Dolph Drago ), TRL Prototype Challenge World Tour.

Cars:
Still trying to decide between
1) Everyone driving the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP Base Model '10 Spec, but limited down to 650pp (No tuning, only power limiting. Allows everyone to run custom color/number... but isn't really a Prototype Challenge style car like you would find in IMSA)
2) Everyone driving between a selection of open top prototypes like Audi R8 Race, R10 or the Pescarolo's, also Spec but limited down to 650pp (all in one, or just everyone pick their favorite, this more closely resemble Prototype Challenge cars.)

Tracks/Arrangement.
To keep with the difference of FLEX vs Enduro, Night 1 would consist of 2 Rounds of 3 different 50km Sprint Races (6 races, 300km total)

Round 1, North America:
Montreal
. (Okay, so there isn't a Montreal, but if you blur your eyes and stand on your head Grand Valley East looks pretty damn close to the Canadian Grand Prix track.) This simple track lets us all get dialed in.
Daytona Road Course. A head south for a familiar trip around the Rolex 24 Hour track.
Laguna Seca. Wasn't IMSA just there? Why yes... yes they were.

Intermission. Recommend getting an oil change, just to be safe as you could start losing power by the end of the night.

Round 2, Pacifica:
Mount Panorama. Now things are getting interesting... how will we handle the tight corners and negative-G dips?
Suzuka. Going to put the downforce to the test!
Singapore GP. (Okay, fine... Special Stage Route 5) Because what would a world tour be without a night-time city course? (Honestly, in brief testing I love LMP's on this track.)

NIGHT 2, Euro-Enduros.
Monza. A 15 minute, opening race so we can all get back comfy in the cars.
12 Hours of Spa. A half-enduro, running just over 20 minutes (half a usual Saturday night race), race will end after dark to give a little taste and prepare us for...
24 Hours of LeMans. Configured with time-progression of 30, the 24 hour race will be designed to run around 48 minutes. Possibly with a few forced caution laps... we'll see.

Anyways, just trying to put out feelers to see if there's any interest in doing something like this. I intend on doing the rest of the research/points/rules/cautions/tire wear, etc...

EDIT: I apologize if this is inappropriate to post straight up in the main thread as there are separate discussions about schedule and events, but as this was sort of a "way out there" idea (being definitely different from something we'd typically run) I wanted to put a feeler out there to see if any Turtles were interested in doing something like this even if it were not part of the official Turtle line-up. (Basically watching the PC class IMSA at Laguna Seca over the weekend made me think "that would be a lot of fun to run something like that online.")

Interested.

Might not make it to the next race.
Man I hope you can make it gears. I always enjoyed racing with you. A short track, a fast little, great handling car, under 1 minute lap times. It's gonna be a great race. The bigger the field the more fun and competitive it'll be.

I would definitely be interested, though I'm not a FLEX member yet.

In GT5 I ran the offline career 4 Hours of Tsukuba with the Miata TC. All around great car!!! 👍

The Mazda Touring is one of my favorite cars in the game... It's a great intro to touring cars and you can beat the hell out of it (as in, brake too late, accelerate too early, etc...) and easily save it without it ruining your night. I can't think of a better car for our 7th week-2 hour race... nothing sucks more than making a small mistake and then spending the next 1:45 30 seconds behind the rest of the pack.
Looking forward to this race more than any other combo we've done (and that says a lot because I really liked some of the others too).

Some tips:
Don't know how practice went yesterday but I have raced this combo a few times in the last month or so and the few tricks I picked up along the way are:

Turn 7 is actually the trickiest corner on this track, in my opinion... there's a very fine line between doing it perfectly and doing it very very wrong... this corner has the most spins even for a grippy car like this... My advice is to take it slower than you really want to (not saying brake like a hairpin but just a few M/Kph slower can really save your butt), and then tightly hold the inside through 8 and 9 (if defending) as even if the guy behind you took 7 a bit faster than you, this car does not have enough juice to get around you on the outside of 8 and 9... you may think this sets you up badly for turn 10, but provided the overtaking driver understands that unless he has effectively overtaken you (according to the rules) it is still your corner and he should give you the line.

Turn 10/11 everyone likes to treat as 1 hairpin corner, when really it isn't... the first part of the corner is tighter and then 11 actually eases out... this allows for a great opportunity to brake late (if I remember correctly I would brake at the end of the left side curbstones) and perform a wide-in/tight-out maneuver at full throttle. You may brake a few M/Kph slower than just hugging the inside of the corner, but you can hit a late apex and come into the straight at full throttle and already upwards of 4-5Mph faster than if you had treated it as a tradition out-in-out corner. This is great for putting yourself in an overtake position going down the back straight and maintaining it through turn 12. However, if defending against someone who's attempting an overtake as previously described off of 7, through 8 and 9, I would say take the inside just to make him back off :mischievous:

Turn 12 you can take at remarkable speed, but remember that the faster you go in, the slower you'll come out... don't try to brake too late for this because the last thing you want is to go wide, you'll lose a lot of time.

Apologies for leaving practice last night, but noone seemed interested in an actual practice race test, so i just bailed since i'm not able to race this weekend anyway and was only there to have some fun.

It's a shame this race is this weekend as i love the long endurance races and strategies involved.

My thoughts is that with four people, we were just going to get spread out by the end of 20 laps. We did a 10 lapper after you left, and first and second were still about 6 seconds apart.

If you want a time to compare against, I bested a 58.5 without pushing the car too hard. I wouldn't be surprised if the car made it the whole 2 hours without pitting. 20 laps, and the tank barely lost any fuel, and the front tires didn't have any noticeable wear.

I just didn't understand why you would rather sit there and turn laps for 30 minutes, but then when i wanted to do a 20 lap race you moaned. I would just rather turn laps under race conditions (even testing out pits stops and such if so desired) than just turn laps in practice mode. Particularly this combo.
It doesn't have anything to do with keeping the cars close together. It's practice. If you want to treat it like a race, then you can, but some of us want to test things out and that is what we use Wednesday nights for.

------------------------------
And while i am moaning

If i set up a room and it is for 2 people only max and says "testing", that means don't bother me please. If i could set up a room online for only me i would, but the game doesn't let me.
While to me this seems obvious, I can't tell you how many times people come in to join my "testing" room when i have set up this way.
I really just want to make the title "Piss Off - private", but i figured that would only encourage people to join even more often:lol:
Rant over, moving on

P.S. and Fisher, you joining was fine the other night, you had some league stuff to talk about and had been trying to get in touch with me.

Ladies, calm down. @micantony, I'm sorry that I interrupted your precious testing time. Next time, I won't waste your time.

And yet we wonder why we keep losing racers.

Weekly plug for the FLEX races this weekend. Join us as the driving gets RUF at Apricot Hill (reverse). Who will be able to tame these monsters? Who will be enjoying marshmallows as they roast their tires? Who will even be going the correct way around the course (*cough* Severn *cough*)? Come and find out! Check out post #689 on the FLEX thread for info on the race. Hope to see you there! 👍

Even though I know the right way around the track... doesn't mean I'll be able to keep the first two cars pointed the right way around the track

So, if i read correctly, tonights race is at Tsukuba , 120 laps, in the Mazda Roadster Touring Car? I have never raced with TRL, but i would like to join the event if at all possible. Im not the fastest guy out there, but as the Host of PRO TOUR (Spec) Endurance Racing Series, my racecraft can be trusted. If anybody can message me on PSN ( mlbguy4life ) as to discuss wether or not i can join tonights race, or if someone would like to varify my racecraft in a practice session , that would be much appriciated, as i will be home all day. I use a G27 racing wheel and all aids are always off exept i use abs1 . Thank You
edit: Saturdays race

We race Enduro on Saturday nights at 10pm est. Usually the room is open half hour before the race time. You are more than welcome to join us! We are racing the Mazda Roadster TC @ Tskuba 120 laps this week so only one race. Refer to the original post on page 1 and find a color/number combo that is available and post it here. Welcome to the Turtles!
