I gotta smart up in freaking car choices!!! Last saturday was the ****** alfa romeo, last night the goddamm audi tt hhaaaaaaaarrrrg!!!

Here is an idea Joby,

Since we are running two nights, well 1 and half nights per week. What if one of the nights we had the PP selection from 1400 to 2000 in increments of 25.

Example:
If Nic won he could pic a 1825pp. The the next week if Racefan won he could change it to 1475. This would give more of a variety to pick from. And maybe have it so that you can't pick the same pp twice. It might make since to do this on the Saturday night since it is only run every other week. The Monday could be changed up or down (like you have it) every week.

Just an idea we were throwing around last night.

For me chosing from any car in the game that fits the pp and drivetrain requirements is what makes this series so fun, so I don't want the pickts to be restricted. Just my opinion, but I'm sure many agree. I do like the idea of having a default lineup that people can use though, makes it more beginner friendly. Speaking of beginners, I'm off to teach myself how to play guitar!

I agree. Finding that right combo is the fun part. Buying and testing cars to fit the puzzle. After a good night of racing then you can feel good about the work you put into it. I have put alot of time into it and had a bad night. But I learned what cars work good on certain tracks and which ones don't. All part of what makes cap racing fun.

Do people think this is a good idea? Will it make picking a lineup easier or harder?

I have been working on an addition for the PP cap sheet to make looking up the data much much easier. Me and Joby have to get together some time so he can tell me what else he wants to see from it. The listing I have has the drive train for all of the cars.

I think most of us last night agreed. I don't think it will be any more difficult picking a car with the pp high or low. It should be the same either way..

What do you and anyone else think?

I don't care one way or the other. All I did was pick 4 cars that totaled up close to or equal to the PP and raced each car on whatever track.
Doesn't matter what the PP total is.

Are you making it work in Google docs?

Would love to see what you have created?

And yes I am a natural. Natural blonde. Want to see? LOL!!!!!

Alright here is the link, this is with older data but the idea is the same. It takes a minute to load when you click your first drop down menu, but after that works fine.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsMImgnzGxjJdEVWbmVmRG4zNlYtYWt6cXlUaWpETmc&usp=sharing

The first page is the Garage. All you need to do is pick the models you want on the highlighted areas below, you can also change the PP limit to your liking. 3 Garages are in place so you can save your favorites or compare new setups. All the other cells are formulas, you dont want to mess with those!

The second page is the Lookup tool, just use the drop down menus highlighted to select the drivetrain and PP to find the car that matches what you are looking for. All lap times are given for the car as well.

Again, this is with old data so there is some work to be done!

Okay! Here's my line up for Sat. night

FF-Focus ST '08-418PP

FR- MX5 Miata 1800RS '00-382PP

MR-MGF '97 369PP

4WD-GTO SR '95-402PP

Total-1571

Car Colors will be Black on black.
The only problem is that the known PP of the following cars:

Focus ST - 422 (+4)
MG F - 376 (+7)
Miata 1800rs - 385 (+3)
GTO SR 95 - 404 (+2)

Puts your PP at 1587 or 12 over. I am just bringing this up as a general point as I wish I had the time to Analyze the total PP of everyone's lineup prior to the race. Unfortunately I currently do not. Hopefully Stars spreadsheet work will help us in this regard. Until then how strict do you feel we should be about the known PP? Right now I like the relaxed nature of the series and I do not want to get to hung up with rules and regulations so just putting it out there for a discussion.

wow. I think we have a new spreadsheet master. I will take a look when not on my iPad but this looks great:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

jobyone
1. Nic-KL - 55
2. Kendawg - 53
3. JoeW/Ice-Warden - 50
4. Starvsnr - 50
5. Diabolicwyvern - 50
6. Chatva - 46
7. Schmiggz - 44
8. Tezgm99 - 43
9. koszak27 - 43

That 2pts for 4 different decades would have jumped me two spots.

Well I can add the other sheets that you have so this one is complete and functional for you, possibly make a leader-board sheet off of your result records. Think it would be best to keep it together so there is no maintenance copying updates from one sheet to another.

One thing that would be great is if we could have a page for each nights race. Then each participant could fill in there "garage" for the night. We would need to be able to do that for 15 people.

Then if we could link that to the scoring sheet in a way that the race director could quickly fill in the cars used for each race.

Does that make sense?

Also PM me your emal and I will give you full access to my sheet.

And thanks for doing this. I think it will be a big help to the series!

I think I am on board with this. Was there a reason for the limited range?

Also no one has given me any votes for the tracks:( Does that mean everyone is happy with the current tracks?

Ohhh, I see. ok. 10 points to distribute? Easy peasy, the PM is on its way. BTW, maybe no one has because it didnt look like it was an official statement yet.

Official announcement;)

I want to give each person who has raced the option to vote on which tracks we will use for the April-June season. Each person will get 10 points to assign and you can vote for up to 4 tracks. You can choose to put all your points towards one tack or divide them as you like between up to four tracks. We will then use the 12 tracks with the most votes. The 12 tracks will then be divided up into sets of three based on average speed.

You have until March 31st to place your votes. Please do not post in the thread instead please send me a PM. Also please be specific with the track name.

Here are some voting examples to illustrate how you can allocate your pts.

Driver 1. 10 pts Daytona Super Speedway

Driver 2. 6 pts Autumn Ring Mini, 4 pts Kart Space 1

Driver 3. 4 pts Spa, 3 pts Laguna, 2pts Monza, 1 pt High Speed Ring

I would like to see SS7, Sarthe, and some snow or dirt tracks used(let those 4wd's shine). Basicallt all the tracks we cant use in snail.lol
DERT, NVM.

I am leaving it totally open to you guys:) I would love to see dirt/ice or even random tracks. Keep in mind someone still needs to win and the choose the track:)

Can you openly say in the thread how you did polling? (I mean is it allowed for people to do so? - not that I'm asking anyone to do so.)

RE: Random Custom Courses
Something I've done with this is use a "base track"... and then simply hit "regenerate course" - and in this way you can start with some general "type" of track in the custom type, and then have something that is random, yet not completely bizarre & unpredictable in type. So it would be similar in length & characteristics, so you wouldn't be surprised by some bad parameters that can come up in random - like a toscana tarmac that's narrow with hinky turns all throughout 5miles  I've had better experience with this method, than simply choosing the "random" choice in the track selector.

For now let's keep it out of the thread.

I like your suggestions about random random tracks.
