I don't know about GT6, but in 5, that meant it was 100% chance of change.

Are we running with damage (I vote yes) and penalties (I vote no)?

Penalties are off, no visible damage, and light mechanical damage(heavy requires a pit stop to fix damage).

As for weather I'm all for it! Also remember that you have to buy the intermediates and rain tires as they're no longer included with the purchase of racing tires!

Hey everyone. i was planning on racing tonite but my internet that is run by Comcast was shutdown due to something happening on their end so i can't do anything online but i wish you all luck in tge race tonite.

Unfortunately, I wasn't expecting so many people to join tonight. Best way to guarantee you'll be able to race is show up as early as possible. I really didn't want move to two rooms, but if we have to then something will get worked out. Though that wouldn't start until next season, since there is still one race after tonight. Sorry you couldn't join tonight, hopefully next week!

Had a blast tonight. Was 2 laps down during the first pit stop and ended up in 9th at the end of the race which wasn't that bad considering how bad i was doing during the race.

6th... Well, I finished were I started, and that's my main goal

I was not doing good during the race and I had a lot of mistakes and spinouts, so I could not expect any better result after all of those mistakes. I was on the hard compound from lap 25 to lap 48, so that could be the key of my decent result.

I'll try to join next weeks race at Mt. Panorama. I'm still new to S.N.A.I.L., so I'm keen to get as much racing under my belt as I can.

I had a blast tonight chasing down Whales, Nic, and Russ. Looks like you cna count me in for a full grid next season.

Disconnected last week during qualifying and half way through the race this week. I've never had this problem before. I'm done racing till Sony gets the problem fixed.

Hint: private lounges.

Excellent race last night everyone! I really wasn't expecting the room to fill up like it did, and we have very few disconnects which was even better. Though I'm not sure what exactly to do for next season since we have started to grow more and more each week. I've long said that I didn't want to have more than one division(especially after the disaster we had the one night we tried it), because I would hate for us to have a few full rooms for a few nights then slowly trickle down to our normal attendance numbers.

One thing I was thinking of was changing the prefix for the thread title from "Open" to "Full" for the time being, then if we start to lose drivers, change it back to "Open". Though if there is an overwhelming majority in favor, we could try and work out how to run two divisions starting next season.

Your more than welcome to join us Azure Flare! Though I do want to warn you that we right now are around the maximum capacity that the league is currently set up for, so the room could potentially fill up. In my post above, I've suggested a few ideas for what we could do to get around this. I'm hoping there will be room for everyone to join, but I can guarantee that every will get in. I hope this doesn't discourage you from joining us, but I wanted to make it clear that we may not have enough room.

Hope to see you next Saturday!

Just wanted a podium finish, so I'm happy :D

Great race last night. That was more challenging than I thought it would be with the night time and rain thrown in there. I probably crashed about four or five times but I had some good battles. Looking forward to next week.

@cmbeal317

I have a solution already created for managing multiple rooms when there is an inconsistent number of participants. If you're interested in hearing about it, let me know weather to post it here or send you a PM.

Feel free to post it here, that way everyone can see and discuss it.

Thanks,

It does require some extra effort and co-ordination in the qualifying process and some manual line up of the grid to start the race.

The first thing you have to do is establish when and how the night will split into two rooms. If you split at 17 drivers then you need to determine how the split will happen. Ex. 17 drivers would be a 9-7 split, 18 would be 9-9 and so on.

Once you have made that decision, you run qualifying in two separate rooms with a director in each. The directors need to be able to communicate outside of the game in some way. A conservation here would probably work.

Once qualifying is finished, the two directors would take a minute to sort the results and the fastest 9 would go to one room and the rest to the other. This does involve some room switching and patience but I have done it in the past and it does work as long as everyone can follow instructions.

How you score the racing is up for debate. I have done it as one big race with the slower room being behind the faster room for finishing order. Ex. 1st in room 2 is 10th place in the whole race, 2nd is 11th and so on.

You could also run it as two divisions and give out 1st place points for each winner. For the monthly championship in this case, you would have to come up with something to determine which division you earned points for if you have nights with one room and nights with 2. I could work up some options to do it this way if you wish.

I have also made fields of 17+ work by running qualifying heat races in separate rooms and then combining based on those results if that is something you would like to hear about.

This is pretty similar to what we did the night we tried out running two divisions. That didn't go very well, but it was also a spur of the moment idea, though with more planning it could work. What I was thinking was perhaps reinstating the time trial we used ask everyone to do when they joined. Then like the main S.N.A.I.L. races, use that as a basis for dividing the drivers.

For promotion and relegation, that would happen at the end of each season(same as S.N.A.I.L.). For points I think that it would work best for both divisions would get the same points, and for prizes the Top 3 in each division would get to pick the new car/tracks.
Then so the D2 guys have a chance at picking a car, every other season we could alternate which division gets to pick the cars.

For example:
D1
1st: Car choice
2nd: Track choice
3rd: Track choice

D2
1st: Track choice
2nd: Track choice
3rd: Track choice

Then the next season the car choice would be swapped to D2(along with 2 track choices) and D1 would have 3 track choices.

Since attendance seems to be picking up I don't think this will be a problem for a while, but if we have nights with low attendance and decide to combine the two rooms into one division, the points would be recorded as follows(this is subject to change as it could be controversial to some people). Everyone in the combined division would receive points normally as if it was just one division. For updating the standings, the drivers would be split into there respective divisions and the points would be added to their totals.

For example here's a potential results from a combined division

1st: Division 1 Driver - 16pts
2nd: Division 1 Driver - 15pts
3rd: Division 1 Driver - 14pts
4th: Division 1 Driver - 13pts
5th: Division 2 Driver - 12pts
6th: Division 1 Driver - 11pts
7th: Division 2 Driver - 10pts
8th: Division 1 Driver - 9pts
9th: Division 1 Driver - 8pts

The Division 1 drivers in 6th, 8th, and 9th would receive the points listed, even if there positions would change after the D2 drivers have been separated from the list. The two Division 2 drivers would receive the points for where they finished in the race as opposed to giving them 1st and 2nd place points since they were the only drivers from Division 2.

In an nutshell, you get the points for whatever place you finished in the combined division race, regardless of which Division your in, so D2 drivers won't have an advantage in there division's standings if only a few show up and we hold a combined division race.

Ideally I'd like to have a minimum of 7 drivers in each, and we could potentially move one or two guys around if we had to(say 10 show in D1, and 6 in D2; then we could move 2 drivers from D1 to D2 to balance the rooms out). The points would work the same as in the case of a combined division. You receive the points for the place you finished, but in the standings in the first post, they would be recorded in the division you are assigned to.

For communication, I've got a spreadsheet made to record the points for each race that you can see below. I also have a template for doing single races that is hidden too, but I prefer having everything all on one spreadsheet. If we go to two divisions, I'd just make two copies of the full season template and label them accordingly. All the directors would have access to this and we could do any communications between the two rooms through the document(just like S.N.A.I.L.)

Obviously before we make any changes we need to discuss this and make sure everyone is on the same page. In addition we'd have to determine a time trial and have everyone run it to get the initial divisions set up. If we start on this right away we could have this ready to start next season which starts on Jan. 18th.

Don't forget that tomorrow is the Season 14 finale at Mount Panorama!

I think I might not make it, I have a clan war at Battlefield to play tomorrow, it's been delayed since November, and them leaders are counting me in since then.

I really hope that you have fun there, those esses before the long straight are not so easy to take lap after lap without incidents.
