Practice is where you try things out and sometimes make mistakes in doing so. ( even big ones) that's why it's called practice. I don't think it's fair to get on anyone during a practice session unless they are purposely trying to drive horrible and crash into everyone.

I thinking whining and complaining about it or God for bid quitting in a practice set up is much worse. As it's is premeditated and not a mistake at all.

Sir, last night there were 3
non-GT-1 people join the Tuesday night practice that had absolutely no regard for other drivers, were conducting themselves as if they were in an Open Lobby, and were the antithesis of driver's desiring to drive in a Clean manner. Two of them were eventually "booted" from the room.

You described it accurately in saying "unless they are purposely trying to drive horrible and crash into everyone."

Please dispense with your condemnation of comments without first being informed of what you speak.

I think what I said still holds true in this instance the "unless" aspect was more relevant.

I am OUT of tonight's race at Daytona. My copy of GT6 has seen its last days. I will replace it tomorrow, weather is crappy and I don't feel like getting out again tonight. Sorry to my teammate Trick and everyone else.

.... or practice is where you practice to drive and pass clean. And when you accidentally drive some else off the track, you practice good manners and give the position back so that you experience during practice what the effect will be if you make that same mistake during race night. Practice night is not macho night.

Oh digital would be a HUGE download. I remember when I updated the game when I got a new ps3 it took like 12 hours. I couldn't imagine a full download.

That sucks ya i remember how long it took just to reinstall. Hamsters inside a computer, painful. Talk about bad timing though you know. murphy's law strikes again.

Did anybody get a time penalty in the pit box for speeding in the pit lane last night (entering too fast)?

I thought it happened to me when I did a simulation run for practice, but wasn't sure. During the simulation I put in around 70 liters and the car stayed stationary for about 10 years (or was it 5 seconds) after the gas was done, before it pulled away.

Just to be safe I was going slowly into the pits last night and put in 74 liters. This time, the car pulled away immediately when the fuel was in.

I learned my lesson there long ago. I was very cautious entering. Ohara got stuck in the pits for an eternity so he probably triggered the penalty.

ohara entered too fast I saw him get restarted at pit entry.

Definitely had an informative session last night. I'm going to attempt to pick up a few tenths tonight but think i am close to maxed out. I feel like the z has a good run in her this season but i just haven't been able to put it together yet. Eyeing that podium for wednesday though. Its not impossible, even with me driving.

My model says that, with my car, a 2 stop is about 10 seconds faster than a 1 stop strategy

Also, it looks like 44 laps might be possible, but it has to be a flawless performance. I am only going to get 43 laps.

How many secrets can we share here anyway? I can show you a few screen shots of my model if you are interested. I can even share the model, but you need a bit of excel experience and a bit of training on how to operate it.

Why don't we have a discussion on how we determine our strategies?

Well as far as strategies. I tend to try to run a contrary strategy to what most people do to minimize my time in traffic. I have shared my pit strategy before but then end up second guessing myself in the lobby when i see a bunch of people starting on my tires. I think sharing as much knowledge as possible and especially helping those who arent finishing well should be a goal of everyone but at some point we have to compete against each other so where is the line? This is a question i ask myself often.

as long as I'm in the points I'm happy!

My input table on car/tire/fuel performance. Here I run a few laps and determine tire wear and fuel consumption and get an idea for lap times. For the last two sections I actually run a 4 lap race with each tire to determine the first lap, fast lap, in lap and out lap times. The tire wear rating (ML / MM / etc. ) is picked based on your lap times as the tires wear down. See third table below.

Followed by the regulations input (Position of the pit box may change depending on when you enter the room. However, it will not change the overall inlap/outlap combined time.)

Then, Determine which tire wear rating to use and put that rating in the first table

The pit strategy screen (You can play around here and use the yellow boxes to change the strategy to 16/16/11 and see if that is faster. Or run the Primes first to be out of sequence with others, etc.)

I don't think this is a secret. It is just the way I prepare. You can make it simple, but then it is not as much fun to see how close you can get to your predicted time.

I like spreadsheets - my wife thinks I'm crazy

I think your wife is correct! you do this all in your spare time for each combo for sundays too?

Edit: I see you have a column for max laps on the prime tire but not one for the minimum use, that one is very important so that you don't pit early on them.

You will have to manually put that in the pit strategy table to make sure you run the minim laps. That's what the yellow cells are for.

For Sundays I only run laps with the rest of the guys. Not too much by myself.

I like Spreadsheet's as well and use them at work, their great once you make them but that takes time and Sir;
You have certainly taken the time.

Tuesday's Testing/Practice indicated that the racing will be very close.

Hope everyone has their Patience Helmet on tonight.
