What is the start time? There is no time option on Daytona International Speedway Road Course Forward, or the standard start time on Daytona International Speedway Road Course Time Change is 18:00. I assume we aren't racing in the dark. I thought that got vetoed.

just the standard issue road course track, and no it hasn't been vetoed. daytona at night is awesome!

Daytona start

So it has been decided by 9 votes that Daytona will be a rolling start. We will test it tomorrow at practice for the 15 minute races (time set to 20 minute, 1 5 minute lap then start of race). So I hope all will make it out! Sorry to all those in the 4WDs your start advantage is gone :)

Something that came up during the practice tonight. The leader is required to start with in the starters box. just like nascar it can be early, late, whenever but the leader can't start until within the box.

I thought practice was tomorrow night ? What's the starters box ?

Oh ya baby!
More smart ars stuff (see the bold line at the bottom):
A rolling start is one of two modes of initiating or restarting an auto race; the other mode is the standing start. In a rolling start, the cars are ordered on the track and are led on a certain number of laps (parade or caution laps) at a pre-determined safe speed by the safety car. When race conditions are ready, the safety car will leave the track, and the race marshal will show the green flag, indicating that the field is allowed to accelerate. The safety car typically leaves the track some distance before the finish line, and a few seconds may elapse between the safety car's departure and the showing of the green flag. Cars must wait for the green flag to accelerate to race speeds. In the past, drivers would need to look for the flag, but in modern times this information is typically communicated to drivers via two-way radio, or at the proper acceleration zone, marked by a line or cone, determined at the pre-race drivers and mechanics briefing.

How many are planning on coming out tonight? By my mathes's we will have 17.
I guess the better question would be is anyone not planning on racing tonight.

It would be a shame for someone to have put in a lot of preparation and not be able to participate.

Suggestion: Arrive early and get a good seat.

Also, be aware that we will be using a Rolling Start at the Daytona track. Not as simple as it sounds.

I will be there. Sorry i couldnt make practice. I will probably qualify 12th or worse though so will just follow the lead of everyone else at the start.

If all plan to attend tonight then the Ph1sher would have to be the odd man out.

As for the rolling start it can be a challenge I will be on soon to test the best spots to do the rolling start. I'm thinking of stopping on the back stretch by the first timing marker and going from there to the start box plus 40 seconds.

Ok so from this divide on the back stretch to the start/finish line is a 1:12 at 65 mph. So if the leader takes off from this point at 51:15 he should cross the line really close to the proper start time.

Tonight I encourage all drivers to comply with Birdie's instructions about the Pace Lap, Starting Point and Speed to the start of the race.

No quibbling or "Yeah, Buts".

Follow instructions quietly and all will be well in the GT-1 Universe.

Ok, so I have about 6 friends that are ready to race in the extra cars and we are ready as soon as the room opens. Good luck getting in a room that only has 16 slots. And, I figured it would be ok even though they are not on the drivers list for this season. I don't care who you are, like Tex says, first come first serve, RIGHT?

Reds already said he won't be coming now if he were to change his mind before 9pm ph1sh would be sol however if you have 6 friends who want to race with us that's a new ball game! That would mean 2 rooms playing with the score sheets man that would be so much work!

LOL, I should be so lucky to have 6 friends in the same room at once. LOL

Does the drivers list mean anything? Can anyone drop in at will? I thought any driver that wants to be in a current season, needed to announce there intent and a car choice at the beginning of the season?

Phisher is a "returning" driver so a little bit different and he made his intent know to me in a pm

Hope your Friends are of a Higher Caliber of driver than those that we experienced last night.
Practice is where you try things out and sometimes make mistakes in doing so. ( even big ones) that's why it's called practice. I don't think it's fair to get on anyone during a practice session unless they are purposely trying to drive horrible and crash into everyone.

I thinking whining and complaining about it or God for bid quitting in a practice set up is much worse. As it's is premeditated and not a mistake at all.
