◆ SNAIL [Pack] Racing - Boost Racing - Where the excitement never ends!

Sorry guys for the abysmal driving out there. Wasn't into it I guess, and it's no fun wrecking other people's race. See ya next week

And that was after two laps at what might be the most diverse long track I have driven. It is faster than the 'Ring and offers many opportunities to FUBAR. I. Got more pleasure from the 3d than the first win ever in PACK in the second race. The reason was that the reason for the win was three previous races with this combo in the Ruff. It was due to track and car knowledge....not outright speed. And it was also due to very considerate driving by two of our resident fast guys...

Great night guys...sorry I said F@ck instead of Frack....

@Nail-27 Is this a change for just one time, or for all future races? If it is an overall policy change, may I suggest that you should also update the 1st post of the thread. It is where new players will see the rules.

The main post also has several errors in HP stats (very confusing for new players setting up cars and then finding that their numbers don't match yours)

In particular I was surprised by the room allowing brake balance adjustment, because I remembered the main post saying it was forbidden.

*General Car Settings*
Oil change allowed
ABS setting of 1 allowed
Brake Balance adjustment is forbidden, but unenforceable... Make the right decision
No other tuning is allowed

It's just kinda shunned because we can't enforce it. I didn't realize we were on fast tire wear though

Nope that was a one off

Brake balance is allowed and I will change the words on the front page to reflect that...there is no way to enforce it.

I liked the Ruf, but not nearly as much as the BRZ. I have to say, as much as I like racing at Sierra, the track is not the best for pack racing. If you are concentrating on being in the pack, track knowledge is essential. Not being 100% sure what the next corner is leads to fear of running side by side with someone. It was fun though, Jag was worried about his first night, Meh, me thinks he did pretty good for a pack rookie. Good job neighbor. What a finish

Exactly. The start of the races were great and then halfway through lap 1 most people fell off and spent most of the rest of the lap just waiting for the boost to catch them up. I say we stick with short tracks and the longest we do is Nordschleife, maybe even the 24H variation. Everyone knows that by now.

Wow no posts since Tuesday!

So I was thinking since we have custom tracks now and Pack Racing's main idea not having practice ahead of time, do you think we'll see some user-made tracks in the near future? Real world circuit recreations or otherwise?

That is something that could be brought up for discussion. Maybe as a special event every couple of months or something. As for today, t-minus 8ish hours before go time. So kick the tires and light the fires, its going to be a GREAT night of racing.

I've been in love with this version of Road America I found. The track is so fast and the long straights provide great drafting.

When tracks have been certified by major organizations...SNAIL,WRS, GTP_ES,TURTLE...etc. we will give them ALL a try...real courses only of course.

Do you think that may happen sooner than later?

I take it we have to wait even though Pack Racing is laid back because it's still a branch of the SNAIL League? The ability to download tracks to the game is available to everyone with an internet browser right? So once it's certified there's no reason not to have a track other than not following a thread. 👍

Snail doesn't intervene with how we run monday night miatas as much as one would think... We wing it and see what happens lol

Robbie is correct and it is open to non SNAILS....all non Sunday series are the same. We follow SNAIL AND GTP driving standards but with necessary slackening due to the nature of the series.

The jury is still WAY OUT on the track editor as I noted before. We plug along...the track is actually unimportant....we varry it just to keep from getting terminally bored.

I know this is kinda going off topic but...

This is just my personal take on the track creator. I find the vast majority of these re-creation tracks to be of almost zero interest. I'll admit, I've driven almost none of them; but knowing they're nearly all built at the flat location and many of them have significant topographical features is a major turnoff. I drove a Watkins Glen yesterday for about two laps. That's all I needed to wash my hands of that. I can't even imagine how bad some of the others could be. There are a couple I'm interested in trying out just because I know they are very flat in real life. I'm mostly interested in the fantasy tracks that people come up with. Track design is most certainly an art.

A track will be considered useable after a major organization uses it without problem for a race....so everybody keep your ears to the ground.
We can always be Pathfinders and try some new tracks just to see if they work. The variety and imagination of some folks have opened up a whole new portal of fun for this Nail27 (old), title.

I am going to open a very unofficial room in the community page about 8 est using a few of the new tracks that the Miata might like. Feel free to join me Pack People.

You don't have to drive a Watkins Glen track to know it's gonna be awful. But Road America is inherently very flat. Only real elevation change is out of Turn 3 and into Turn 4. Slightly uphill. That's really it. The track in GT6 is still very fast and you get the same rhythm. It works. The track width is just right too. Sometimes there are gems like this, but there aren't many. You gotta find the tracks that are already mostly flat in real life.
