Good choice with the track its very fun

We generally don't discuss qualifying times because people should just try to do their best in 10 laps or so without any preconceived notions of target times. It helps to place people more accurately.

Since you mentioned that @Handlebar, @DrKronin and @JLBowler.
I think the GTP OLR section about it a bit weird and confusing perhaps, but if it is the rules, I'll follow it!
Besides, if I not use the rumble stripes I'll be in disadvantage, so I use them. I can get 4 wheels out of track as long as keep 2 of them on kerbs. Not much sense for me, but its legal in GTP right?!

This comes from FIA.
Drivers must use the track at all times. For the avoidance of doubt the white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track but the kerbs are not.

I like that! I never saw kerbs and rumble stripes as part of track, well, in fact, they aren't.

Use White lines first, @Daniel Pinho but the red/white kerbs supersede them if they mark the same course boundaries.

Rules per FIA? We have @JLBowler man... Like FIA, not everyone will like his decision. Unlike FIA, he treats every driver and situation pretty darned fair / consistent. To my knowledge, I do not think JLBowler has been bribed for anything.

Cod you also submitted your time trial for the West Coast Division. We only have one division so you will be racing with us all:) and will not see where you would have placed if you were racing at the normal time. That being said you should see some good racing in the West Coast division as your time is similar to several of us.
 
I will try and summarize the posts I was tagged in. First of all, Ascari will use the white lines as the track boundaries in all (I may have an exception or two but I don't think so) instances. Be on the look out for this weeks "Points of Interest" post.

The beige areas behind the white lines are not rumble strips. In fact, in some of those spots, they appear to be concrete poured after rumble strips were removed from the track. I will take a close look to make sure.

Not knowing the rule is not an excuse to break the rule. It is far from clear that those areas would be considered rumble strips and if a driver was in doubt, they should ask for clarification.

If someone doesn't know and flies through there as others are following the rules, it's going to be a mess and will most likely draw a large penalty.

Final note about Ascari. No driver will be at a disadvantage due to the track boundaries. They are the same for everyone so there is no advantage to be gained or taken away in that respect.

I saw the links for the Calendar and whatever was posted with it and also the like to Exo's Pit Board post. I will get those added tomorrow to the Frequently Used Documents post.

I have not been bribed but I have been know to accept cold beer on occasion.:cheers:

I've decided the Red Bull will be racing at Autumn Ring this week.

I also considered Madrid reverse and Matterhorn Rifflewhatsit. As much as I enjoyed running the car on those more technical tracks, I just couldn't bring myself to subject the league to it. Have a go with the redbull at that particular Matterhorn config though, its a lot of fun in a very frightening way ;)

Oh also, D1 data entry is complete.

Can anyone tell me if the three monitors include the two side views that you normally see when you press your particular assigned button to look out your left or right window?

The assigned left/right buttons what you would see if you were to look directly out of your door windows and so those views only show you what's directly next to you. When you have triple monitors, the side monitors mimic what you would see with your peripheral vision. To explain it another way, the left/right buttons show you what you see when you turn your head to the left and to the right. The side buttons show you what you would see when you keep your head still, but just move your eyeballs to the left and right. In fact, when you have triples, you can still use the assigned left/right buttons to get the "turned head" view. Does that make sense?

So Driveclub has ‘gone back to the drawing board’,eh? Let's see.. After years of development and tons of money invested into the game, somebody on their team finally figured out that a racing game where you can't actually race against others on the same track might not be a very big hit.. That concept should have never left the drawing board to begin with. :rolleyes:

Btw, anyone want to guess when that photo of Kaz was taken? I'm guess he wouldn't have had that smile on his face had he known that car would almost single-handedly destroy GT6's microtransactions revenue stream.

Trust me, that's not a double post and I'm sure any moderator would agree. Just because one user has two consecutive doesn't mean he's guilty of double posting. If it did, I and many others would have been banned long ago. I really hope everyone can learn to understand the difference between "double posting" and "two consecutive posts" because there have been complaints made against league members in the past, not by mods, but by fellow league members who don't understand the difference between the two. Thank you for answering my question. It has helped me to become aware of the question behind my 'extra monitors' question. Since I am new at driving online with real drivers, could this monitor setup help me to know when a car is not just trying to pass, but has reached the point of sufficient overlap so that I can know when I am required to give them a lane. I was told by an experienced SNAIL that the red side marker indicates proximity to my car even tho their car might be behind or only slightly past my rear bumper. So the red side marker doesn't necessarily mean that I need to yield a lane yet.?? I am very nervous when being caught up to because I am unclear when I should make them work for the pass and when it is time to yield a lane. I don't know exactly when I am supposed to switch from driving my racing line to providing a lane which seems compounded by not being able to see when this point occurs. This has caused me to over react, sometimes slowing too much, resulting in a number of cars passing me, and other times losing the balance between my speed and my track position causing me to go off the track. In other words, would peripheral vision allow me to see another car reach sufficient overlap more easily helping me to handle the situation better? In this virtual racing there seems to be an unnaturally large blind spot that isn't present in real driving; and hitting my side view button is very odd since I lose a sense of which way I am going in the intensity of the situation, only adding to my already nervous state. I am just trying to explore ways to become better at this seemingly important and, I imagine, frequent situation, and explore options to better deal with it. One person told me to yield a lane when the front of their car reaches my front tires (I think I could see that in my peripheral vision), but the rules say when their car reaches the drivers position which sounds like it could mean something different. Are the rules allowing a driver to see the front of the car when only one monitor is being used? Or would the required position only be seen visually if I had the peripheral vision that the extra monitors provide? Would I actually be able to see the front of their car when it reached sufficient overlap in my peripheral vision? If my questions seemed confusing, they probably just reflect that I am confused. I am sure any feedback will help me to begin to better put all this together. Maybe I am over thinking things, but it is just one way we some times try to grapple with a situation :). ps. I suppose it is also possible that the rules would only allow me to actually see their car reach sufficient overlap using my side view buttons which would make the peripheral vision useless in better handling this required racing skill.

I think I got confused because as I was typing I realized that I should probably break up my question into paragraphs to make less of a pain to read, but when I hit the enter button in the middle of my text, all my text disappeared. I hit the back button hoping that maybe I had moved to a different page and if so, by going back I would find my text. Which did not happen. And (being very new to forums) I only saw the original post (I think in edit mode) without my text, so I pondered if it would be better to just start retyping it, or after looking at the bottom of the page I thought it might be better if instead of replying inside of a two part message (half of which pertained to me, and the other half to some other continuing conversation between other people) to instead start a new reply. I really don't think people who have been on forums for a long time realize how confusing it can get. Anyway :) I think at that point I just started over, and that is the instance in which I used the edit button about six times. Sorry... I am genuinely trying to do ok. And that is why my question ended up being such a long run-on paragraph; I didn't want to have my text disappear twice.

But if this is true I did not see my new post (with my text) added to the original response. I remember looking to see if maybe it had posted and I also could not find my new text in the original response, or at the bottom of the page I did not see my new reply. So I am still puzzled as to what happened. :dunce:UPDATE: Just now I found my first post hidden beneath 'click to expand' in the original response. That explains that I did post it, but why I did not see that I had posted it. And that is why I started it over again.

I love the white line rule at Ascari, with one exception, the chicanes. Adhering to the white line rule through them seriously interrupts the flow of the track. It appears to me they were shaved down specifically for this purpose.

I think a special case for the chicanes at Ascari could be made and that the rule should be that while the concrete triangle thingies (technical term) are considered part of the track, two wheels in the grass through them would be considered out of bounds.

I don't know how other people treat this particular problem, but I know how I do. I have all three views, left, right and rear, mapped to buttons on my wheel. I run from roof cam view so I can see the front fenders of my car. If I had triples, I'd drive from the cockpit view and still have those buttons mapped, although I suppose I would use them less since I would have a rear view mirror available. At any rate, when the racing is close, as I approach a corner I flick the rear view button to see if anyone is in position to attack mine, if I chose to be defensive, I'll take an shallower entry line, just to help the other driver decide what to do, before we both go all john deere or looking for sea shells, if I'm not feeling a defensive line will serve, when I think someone will be attacking my position, whether they have overlap or not, I'll give them room. Flipping the view quickly takes some practice, but it's really no different than turning your head to look at your blind spot in a real car, or focusing your attention on your rear view mirror. The only real difference is, in GT6, you can do it much quicker than actually turning your head. It all really comes down to getting the information you need to make a decision. Once my car is running through a turn, and there isn't really anything in front I need to keep an eye on, and if someone is attempting a pass, or I'm trying to pass someone, I'll flick the side view button so I know where they are and when I can change my line, if desired.

While the rules state the driver making a pass, must have sufficient overlap, before the driver being passed must allow racing room, wouldn't it be better to allow racing room in almost every case? If we all allow each other some racing room, we can spend more time racing each other, instead of worrying if you should give room. This does not preclude making your car "fat".

Yes, I realize that. However, I'm not sure how that relates to my two consecutive posts since I didn't tag anybody in either one. Or was your post not even directed at me? I'm confused. :confused:
