I want to apologize about the first race of round three. I forgot to change the lap count, so we ran for eight laps, even though the race was over after five.

Congrats to DSG last night. He almost got a perfect score. He was on track, but had a major off in the last race of the evening. Still, it was impressive. On the few times he was near me, I thought he was doing a great job. Smooth, never aggressive, and passed... well... like a gentleman. Clean, precise, and with no drama.

I have to mention that because it stood out. Last night got a little brutal at times in D3, and I'm very upset about it. I'm still a little upset about it right now, and I don't just don't know what to say.

No worries Vol, been there done that. There's a bunch of things the host is trying to juggle and sometimes things fall through the cracks.
I don't think you get enough credit for taking care of D3 for us. It's a fairly transitory division and as such you end up being the S.N.A.I.L. trainer 👍 Good on ya!

That's good to hear, this is what we want from all S.N.A.I.L.'s.

This is also good to hear, but for different reasons. If we don't know we can't sort out a fix for it.

S.N.A.I.L. is all about clean driving, first and foremost. We expect everyone to do their utmost to keep their paint on their cars. Driving aggressively, dive bombing, not making room etc. is not acceptable here. I'm sure we'll be doing some reviews of the races to see what can be done.

Thanks for letting us know!

Upload it to youtube and post links here. Nothing like a little "peer review" to quell dirty driving. :)

ETA: I know it's generally against protocol to name names in public here, and I agree with that since the name namer is biased. But a video replay is more fact and less conjecture.

Picture barrage time! Coming from Division 2. First up, Tsukuba.

That's why we have the review process in place. If you have a complaint, send a message to your division's steward, and there will be twenty odd eyes on it.

That was lap 11 around GP/F, lol, I only prepared for 10 ;)
Seriously though - got too impatient and decided to go for a crazy pass. Put a wheel into the sand and I was done. A lesson.

I don't think calling people out in public is going to do anything but drive people away. I understand peer pressure, but I'm not sure it'll have a positive affect.

The review process is there to be used. It's fully enabled and staffed with very competent people. I have full faith in them and their decisions.

Just surmising here now, we have a fair number of new people joining each week. In part because we drive clean and we make it possible for them to find the sweet spot for their skill level. In other words they get to race, not just do laps.

We all know what an 'Open Clean Lobby' is typically like in the public lobbies of GT5, usually a little less than ;) It could very well be possible that new people coming to race believe they're driving clean, because they're comparing their experience with the Open Public Lobbies. We need to make them aware of what we expect, clean, fair racing. I'm not saying all the driving issues revolve around the new people to S.N.A.I.L. we can all be a little better at fair, clean racing.

Keeping this conversation alive is part of the effort 👍

If I remember correctly, Naruto was the only one left that did not have the DLC tracks. Now that he has them can Spa be one of the tracks picked for Prize A?
It was my pleasure to help a fellow S.N.A.I.L member out.
It is said that " Nice guys finish last". Hopefully that does not hold true this Sunday. LOL!!!

That is what I was meaning. June 23 and 24 at the silverdome would work out great.

I was really hoping to attend both days, life permitting. In terms for points, they are regarded as separate events.

So far I think it's only been the two of us discussing Autocross. Are there any other SNAILs that want to join us? You can take a completely stock vehicle and have lots of fun.

Excellent news! Yes, this means that Spa-Francorchamps, Kart Space I and Kart Space II can now be selected by Prize A and Prize B winners. A big thanks to dabneyd and tcrash15 for their generosity!! I'm sure AG07 and Naruto are especially appreciative!

That being said, I'm sure there will be others who we don't know of yet that will not have the DLC course pack yet. However, we can't spend anymore time trying to find generous donors for every person who doesn't have the course pack. Anyone who doesn't have the DLC course pack will need to either buy it or simply sit out of the rounds in which they don't have the tracks necessary.

Looking onward, how do you guys want to move forward with this policy? Obviously, we aren't going to require that all DLC tracks be purchased. For example, I have no desire to buy the Speed Test Course Pack so that I can race on the two near-infinite straightaways known as Special Stage Route X Oval.

Should we just put up any future DLC course pack up for vote? If the vast majority of the league wants to purchase this hypothetical course pack of the future, should we then immediately make it available for selection? Please let me know your thoughts on how we want to handle this situation in the future.

I echo this. If the next track DLC is an actual world circuit, then I will be much more inclined to purchase it.

If you want to put a simple stamp on it, my vote would be to allow any real tracks (i.e. Spa) and disallow any made-up ones (i.e. Route X and Kart Space). Of course, if a course pack comes with one of each, they would both be allowed (i.e. Spa/Kart Space).

Edit: Practically ninja'd by Random.

I'd like to participate in the muscle car race tonight, but I'm confused about what cars are eligible. According to the car list I have, the only cars under 450PP are the Camaro SS '69 and the GT350R '65. I saw people using other cars before so I'm wondering if they just had bad oil or had the engine detuned, or if maybe the car list has slightly overestimated PP levels.

Either way, I'll definitely be participating in the Cat and Mouse tonight. 👍

I'm not so sure I like this idea. Pretty much every single one of these tracks is not real and I would be willing to pay for each and every one of them!

I will vote for any "realistic" racing course for the FR 400 -5something PP cars that we race. Clearly Kart Schpashe isn't that! A World course is nice, but any with room to pass without sideswipes or shoving into grass or walls and good turns is fine by me.

I must admit that I quit out of frustration at many things last night, the first two or three being me.

I asked garris to let me know what he thought on a few passes/wall shrugs, but those moments aside, I am not good enough to win.

Last night did seem more aggressive, but there was also less room for no contact passing (for new guys).

Ok, here's a quick run down on my proposed touge race day. All racers will need to register with their PSN name and their car that they will be running. I will look into making a google app to stream line this process. The races will be one lap grip gambler on one of a number of Toscana or Mt. Aso courses. All courses will be made available once made and will be between 2-3 miles long. I will load a course either at random (I'm the randomizer) or at the drivers request. each racer will enter the course, along with myself. I only enter for replay and data collection purposes. Once on track, I will begin the race. The race will be one lap, when the race begins, both racers will line up at the start finish, pick a time, then start at the agreed upon time.
The race will be a done in a double elimination bracket system, so just because you lost one, doesn't mean your out of the game. There will be two classes ran, 400pp and 500pp, with the option of running an open class, if there is enough interest. the open class would be open to any street car tuned to whatever pp. All cars used must be street cars, no RM, TC, tuned, special, stealth, chromeline, etc. Street cars only (don't show up with LM street going version car either!). Cars will be ran on Sports Hard tires. This is just a quick draft to let everyone know the basic layout and to further gauge interest. if you have any questions or ideas please post them up. BTW, this is a full tuning allowed event. Once some good participation has been gauged, I will begin an official thread, with track layouts, car lists, a time and place, etc. Hope to hear some positive stuff.
Thanks for reading.

I would love to see many tracks be available in the S.N.A.I.L. Group. I think tracks should be talked about as a group on a case by case basis. For example, if some of the previous tracks in the GT series should be come available (Seattle, Mid-Field, Apricot Hill....) We can talk about it and decide as a group. Yes I would love real course too. I simply want More Tracks to select from!

I hear what you're saying Handlebar. I don't win either, but I've had some of the most epic battles while racing mid pack and further back. That's what I'm here for. I consider the night a success if I've been in some good clean battles, regardless of my finish position. Oh yeah and how much adrenalin is coursing through my body :)

True, two of the tracks didn't have much space to pass. That's where patience and racing experience comes in. We have to realize when it's prudent to make a pass. First question should be, can I pull this off cleanly, if in doubt turn it into a feint and avoid the contact. Ruining someone elses race absolutely guts me and I think it does for most others.

The reason I keep harping on this is to keep everyone aware that bump and grind racing has no place in our league. If nothing's said, that then becomes acceptable and is the norm. None of us wants that.

I truly am sorry you felt you had to quit last night. What do you feel we can do to make the situation better?

I agree, we can decide on any new tracks as PD releases them.

I simply want More Tracks to select from!

This is the truth 👍

Any up and coming DLC course packs should be taken at a one by one basis. While picking Special Stage Oval or Test would be ridiculous:dopey:, any "race track" should be on the table. World Curcuit, Kart, Road, Dirt,Snow, ect. Homemade tracks, I'm still on the fence.

What I would really like to see is tracks like Barber,Road America,Glendale,so on so forth.I'm not sure of the name of this track, if someone could help me, but its in Australia and it said thats it the worlds most dangerous road course.

I know its a Japanese company but come on hook a Yank up!

I would love to see the Motegi Oval included in future DLC. I know, some of you have an aversion to ovals, but this track has two distinct ends and isn't especially high banked. It's a real fun track as there are multiple lines through each corner so the racing is incredible.

If this ever happens, I will have to resort to really practicing so I could win and pick the track.

From what I've read, I'm not sure that I really know the difference between "that's racing" - maybe when someone loses control, accidentally smacks you out of a good spot, and you're now out of luck vs. "say what?" when someone hits you, you're out of contention or not even in sight of the pack, and the 'satisfaction' is "oh, but they got a DQ for that race that your ran dead last for the last 20 minutes for...." The penalty, while accurate, doesn't make up for the game time spent not really gaming.

I want to be crystal clear - I'm not experienced in real life or online racing. Truly, I'm struggling to 'get it' - and I can't really tell the difference between when I have a 'right to turn' vs. 'I thought I could turn right... but this guy came up and made it clear that I couldn't...'

My growing frustration is far more out of trying to mince around not touching anyone on corners or at slowdown points, and thinking that I'm the only one doing it in the back of the pack - and I'm dead blanking last again. Not a winning combo for me, at least.
