Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, and values are in balance.

You don't have to race all the time in order to be a member. We're all about having a good race/life balance.
@zer05ive
It is truly amazing how a simple sentence can make such a strong statement. This is why I quoted @
zer05ive . A simple, unassuming sentence that was contained in a welcome aboard post that we all read but may not have really grasped the true depth of the "race/life balance" concept. This is more than just an idiom. It is something that must be a solid part of our League and needs to be encouraged.
Over the past few months I have been slowly moving away from the day to day operations of the League and Team SNAIL in general. I have recently stepped down from my position as General Manager for the League. This transition has been very hard for me. Being a part of such a fantastic Team has always been very enjoyable for me but the balance of everything had began to lean too far to one side.
Real life changes and finding time to give 100% became increasingly more difficult. The balance between being part of the League administration and a racer also started to become a little lopsided. You can have too much of a good thing before it takes on a life of it's own and becomes tough to manage. We have a cute little term for this. We call it "League Fatigue". It is real and it can be dangerous.
I thought I could power through but it is an evil monster that will eventually catch up to you and when it does, the results are never positive. When it finally caught up with me, it almost ended my time with SNAIL. Our League is much more than a video game I play. It is my escape and is my drug of choice. I had to take steps to rebuild my reputation and learn to start having fun again. I can't imagine not being here. The League and all of you guys are part of what helps to keep my real life in balance.
I am really excited about what lies ahead for our League and for me as a member. With new leadership comes new ideas. I have said it before. If I were ever to start a company or have to go to war, you guys are who I would want by my side. Our League not only attracts some of the fastest drivers ever to fire up a GT title but our members are some of the brightest, intelligent and creative people I have ever known and getting new blood in key roles will only improve our League and the SNAIL experience for a very long time.
As the saying goes, "It Takes A Village", could not be truer here. The only way to keep League Fatigue under control is to share the load. There are League duties that must be attended to on an almost daily basis in order to keep an organization of this size running smooth. From the League directors down to photographers, we can not expect a few members to cover everything. This is why we are always looking for more members to join Team SNAIL. We can
never have too many back ups.
It is just too much to ask any
volunteer to be a division host, director, score keeper, replay uploader, data specialist (etc.) all by themselves and expect them to have any kind of hope for a decent race night. When there are 30 or 40 race incidents that need to be reviewed, it is too much for just a couple of guys to handle and not burn out. In the future I hope to see that if you are a member of the League, you are also a member of Team SNAIL. 100% participation.
I understand that we all don't have the time we wish we did to contribute to
our League. Knowing how to cover a couple of jobs here and there and having multiple back ups in every division could lead to a weekly rotation so that a few guys don't have to do it all the time will help keep the L.F. monster at bay and increase the fun factor for everyone.
Currently I am not holding any primary job with Team SNAIL but you can rest assured that I will be on the roster as back up for
every job in my division. SNAIL has brought me a huge amount of joy over the past couple of years and I will always be looking for new ways to contribute. Not because I feel like it is an obligation but because being involved in keeping our traditions alive and helping to create new ones also brings me quite a bit of happiness... and balance.
In closing, I want to personally and publicly thank @
KTR5 for taking over the helm as GM and look forward to what he will bring to the table.
I also want to let @
Skills know that we are all behind him and pray that his battle is short and easy with positive results. We will be here when you need us. If you ever need to clear your head and recharge your batteries, a few minutes in your favorite car on your favorite track with a few of your SNAIL brothers will do wonders.
