SNOLR Quote for the Week:
14: Re-entering to the track after running off:
A:
It is the responsibility of the car returning to the track to ensure there are no collisions so that no other drivers have to maneuver or brake suddenly to allow you to resume racing. If there's a chance of a collision, wait and be patient as other drivers have the right of way.

15: Track Boundaries:
A:
Colliding with or using walls, fences, cones, brake markers or any other obstacle that is outside the track surface is forbidden, whether time is gained or not.

D3 was Nuclear last Sunday ... Woo Hoo!

Edit:To register expand the above greyed out original message and click on...what else...."Click here to Preregister"
Are those of us that had signed up near the beginning on one of your posts ok or do we need to register on the proper form now?

The amount of penalties in D3 is absolutely ridiculous especially when you know that 90% of it doesn't come from racers contact.
But the worst part is the division loosing a great racer and my big big friend Ice Warden because of it. Some things HAVE to change.

Agreed. Some things HAVE to change. Here are some ideas off the top of my head:
  1. Penalty Limit - Once a division reaches a certain number of penalties, we stop issuing any more penalties
  2. New SNAIL OLR - Let's re-write our OLR to eliminate any non-contact penalties
  3. A "wink" Policy - Keep the OLR the same, but add a ;) next to the rules that you don't really have to follow
  4. A "big big friend" Policy - If any driver quits, we ask his besties to post their favorite memories/stories of him
I'm not sure which idea I like the most, but #3 is my early favorite. ;)

I'll agree with zer05ive that something HAS to change. ALL the drivers need to start following the rules and quit relying on their buddies to not file an IR against them.

I will make public what some already know. I filed every single IR in D3 this week. I was sick and tired of watching guys abuse the track boundaries and I was sick and tired of giving verbal warnings in the lobby only to have them ignored. I had some free time on Monday so I started watching replays and I started with what I saw live during the racing. I investigated from there as I saw more violations of the OLR.

If I had the time every week, I would do the same again. I don't care if my so-called friends don't like it. It is necessary to keep the racing clean and within the OLR. Every driver in a division that I'm racing in should have it in the back of their mind that I may have free time on a Monday and take that chance to take a look at anything I saw in the room on Sunday night and that could lead to me seeing just about anything else.

The only issue I have is you did it in your division. How does that help the league as a whole. Will you do D8 next week. Then D5 etc? It feels a little heavy handed. I am not disagreeing that a Penalty is a penalty or that we should make exceptions it is just that it feels like you had a bad day and took it out on everyone in your division. As you said

"I was sick and tired of watching guys abuse the track boundaries and I was sick and tired of giving verbal warnings in the lobby only to have them ignored"

That does not sound like someone that is impartial. Why had you not been filing these in the weeks before? Or was this just a bad week for the offenders? If it was just this week then did it need to be so heavy handed?

I have so many things I could say to make myself feel better and put down certain others by telling certain truths in a vindictive manner. Which is what I would normally have done. But the best thing to do right now is take the high road and step away for awhile.

I like #4 zero :)

I'll see most of you in the DTC and Racecar series :)

Getting penalties for hitting pilons with the outside corner of your car and two wheels fully on track is awesome, right? Its OLR at it full state of grace! Publicly calling people idiots for causing contact in races it's also a beautiful thing, right? Nooo, supporting friends it is the absolute not to do thing, right?
Wow Zero? So much passion and efford for this?

Another thing, I wanna be placed in D4 again. I wanna race with Tommy, Flopta, Greenthumb, Tex, Capecod and fallen log again. I'm misplaced in D3 and in full collision with how things get done over there.

I can't ignore this one. You've got a lot of nerve to ask a favor from the guy you just bashed publically. You will go to whatever division the data says you will go to and you will either choose to race there or you will choose not to race there. It's entirely up to you.

I plan to return as a new and improved Chatva this week, I took last week off and did some online racing in rooms that I would not normally enter just to see if;
1) I could keep an eye in front and behind to avoide contact, (remember dodgeball)?
2) to see if I could slow down enough to be fast.
3) most importantly, not rush the corner!, any corner!
After much of this, I think I am ready!

Im not taking any side,
i just wanna say some of you take this too seriously ... i joined snail for the thrill and fun of racing others ... i received some penalties aswell but i just look at the replay and say to myself "oh well, better next time".
It may sound like i dont care about the rules but i dont really care about my penalties ... it doesnt mean i try to break them in every race ... its just penatlies doesnt really "hurt" me wheter a friend or "foe" files it ... i actually think its an interesting and good "feature" so things dont get out of controll too much ...
I admit i had a few situations where i havent been on track correcty and didnt lift off as there was nobody around close to the front or back and the overall lap time was even slower than my "correct" laps ...
Maybe these "off-track" situations can be judged by having a significant advantage or not ... if yes, IR all the way, if not, then so be it ... however if its repeated for several laps back to back im all for an IR aswell.

I also admit that when i was in D1 me and most others clipped some pylons in silverstone when we was racing there with the lamborghini, however nobody really cared about it as it didnt put anybody into trouble, i have to say i didnt know clipping a pylon is agaonst the rules, i just found out about it because of the current discussion.
Aslong as the car is not entirely out of bounds i dont see it as a major "crime"

I guess it's all about perspective. From your perspective, he's on a crusade to kill SNAIL. From my perspective, SNAIL would already be dead without him.
This statement is actually a disservice to all the other snails who have come before. Those who have poured many hours of their lives into this series...many who poured TOO many hours in and burned out and faded away.

To say one person, who stepped into a big role only recently, is the reason a 100 person league...alive for over two years...has not died, is a slap in the face to many people still here and putting countless hours in even now.

Poor choice of words methinks.
