@GaWaToxiC

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!

Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You take the SNAIL OLR and Racecraft Test

2. You run the Time Trial and submit your information by 23:59 EST on Saturday night if you want to race this Sunday.

3. @JLBowler PM's you with your assigned Division that we feel will give you the closest competition. You will be added to the drivers list.

4. SNAIL Administrators will reach out to you via a GT Planet conversation with further instructions on joining the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game. To find your assigned room on Sunday please follow the steps below:
  1. Go to Community, from the GT6 My Home screen.
  2. Select Clubs
  3. Select SNAIL [Spec] Racing
  4. Select Club Lobby (on left) not Club Events
  5. Find your division room #, select it and join.
5. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.

6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.
If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

Just a reminder, and I fixed my typo (I still had it say the November season).

Don't worry, the presents won't arrive late. Santa's on a Div 1 SNAIL!!

Wishing you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

I used the stock tune on this car. Start the race with intermediate wets, pit on lap six and win by at least 30 seconds. or a little more. I've done it at least once a day now since it's been out.
I just did this and after Lap 6 the track dried out super fast. By the beginning of Lap 8 it's at 0%. I had to stop to take food out of the oven but I'm assuming it will stay at 0% for the rest of the race. In that case, next time I will do Inters followed by Softs and enjoy my second stint instead of feathering them inters.

I'm certain there's a bug, or at least there was a bug when I did this. I went 7, possibly 8 laps on inters before switching to RS. It was definitely at 0% when I did the tire switch. However, the track was as slick as it was when it was at 40% with what little grip there was found off the traditional racing line. I was 20+ seconds slower on RS than the AI on inters (again, it was allegedly at 0% at that time). So, my belief is that this seasonal is designed to have you on worthless tires at the very end no matter how you run it.

I've done both with success. I did one last night with that Toyota VGT race car. That thing hauls on inters. I'm trying to find a really fast car under 550pp.... just because. I may have to hit my good friend @QEDXY up for his RX-7 tune.

Same thing happened to me the first few times. I found that I get a large enough lead just sticking with the inters on the pit stop with no gas.

I couldn't remember whether you had the I6 or the V8. If you had the V8 like I have I was going to warn you about the N62 engine coolant pipe issue but you are all clear. I have the top part of my engine apart replacing it now and it's a pain in the rear!

Nasty! BMW reliability is not all it should be and the turbo diesels are not without their problems either. Having to replace turbos is quite common and mine carries two of them which made it expensive when they went kaput. The N47 in the 520d is notorious for it's timing chain breaking prematurely and that often leads to the need for a complete engine replacement.
