For me the SP-1, both citereon's, The vertigo (love that car!), The huayra's, the 177, the alfa 155, the audi quarttro, the ferrari gto, the merc 190, the furai, the falcon especially to simulate the aussie V8 series, and the stealths all though people would be mifted because there not paintable.

I think.most people over 20 and definitly those with a family cant really justify grinding during the evening to race on sunday.
I don't get why people think this game requires "grinding" at all. To me, grinding = repetitively doing something boring just to level up or get in game currency.

I run one seasonal race per day just to keep the 200% active (and lately it wins you free cars too). If it is an interesting seasonal, and I have an hour or two at some point in the week, then I will run it with a variety of different cars to get a feel for the different cars. I wouldn't call this grinding, I find it quite fun trying different cars and exploring the differences.

Just by doing this, I am constantly hitting the $50 million cap and having to go on a spending spree.

Chatva has a similar idea when he said:

Did anybody consider running the boring seasonal events while you are waiting for someone to open a practice room and your wanting to drive?

So, while I can understand why we won't allow the absurdly priced $3-20 million cars, I don't quite understand why we rule out all the 1-2 million dollar ones. There are some really fun cars in that group.

At the same time I can totally understand JLBowler talking about creativity in selections...sometimes the combos all feel the same.

I think it is a pity that the three combos are not based on class...one for race cars, one mid range and one low power common cars. That would avoid how some weeks there are three very similar combos. Not expecting (or even suggesting) a change or anything, just saying.

I have no desire what so ever to sit in a lobby with you for any amount of time.
Ouch. That's a bit harsh, no?

You're posting on a public forum, so you should expect opinions. You posted yours, so why can't we post ours? Are we not allowed to be opposed to ideas and say why? Also consider the fact that what you're posting is a rule change, so you should expect even more discussion beyond what you'd normally get in this thread.

God forbid if someone says anything bad about a COMBO though.

D1 Data is in. Congrats to @Ricky Wilson (AcidTestKids) for his dominant, Prize A winning, performance on the night. Three pole positions and three wins from those pole positions along with posting the fastest lap in all 6 races left nobody in any doubt about Ricky's outright speed.

Congrats also to @gtr3123 for wrapping up the July Season win.
did he get down to a 1:21 again around trial moutain?

I'm going to comment on some behavior I've heard of occurring in Sunday night race lobbies, then I'm going to make some comments on the quote below. Do not expect diplomacy or tact in the following.

For practically the same reasons we don't allow discussions of incidents in this thread, we do not allow them in the Sunday race lobbies. It is behavior that is considered worthy of filing an Incident Report on and, if found "guilty" of such, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of SNAIL guidelines and principals. More than one driver has had their entire night disqualified, been suspended, or banned from the league, for such behavior. It is unacceptable and intolerable and goes against some of the first rules in the SNAIL OLR. I challenge everyone to go find what those rules are.

God forbid if someone says anything bad about a COMBO though.
God doesn't forbid anything.

Historically, "discussions" regarding combos invariably degenerate to 🤬 🤬, 🤬 🤬, drama fest, pissing contests. Tempers flare, butts get hurt and nothing good has ever come from it. So far as I'm concerned, we all have but two acceptable ways to publicly (by publicly I mean this thread, the Sunday race lobbies and divisional conversations and/or other wide exposure mediums) express our dislike, dissatisfaction or outright despite of any winner's choice.

You can;
  1. Race the combo on Sunday night and vote for it. We invalidate votes for combos not raced when we find them.
  2. Not race on Sunday night and wait for the combo to go away without your input. Every combo will go away, eventually.

Otherwise, keep your pie hole closed and your fingers off the keyboard regarding combo choices. Not everyone will be pleased with any given car at any given track and that's the way it is. Get in, buckle up, shut up and drive, or not. Either way, it's your choice.

/rant

And now back to your regularly scheduled SNAIL programs.

So Team Redline, who recently welcomed into their fold our own Doug (for some reason I couldn't tag him in the post - anyone knows why?), have announced a new team member: a dude so young he doesn't have a driver's license yet, although his day job is driving for Toro Rosso: Max Verstappen.

Apparently Max got himself a Play Seat from Red Bull, installed it in his parents' house in Belgium and will spend his summer break from F1 having driving lessons so he can get his license and simracing...

Not a bad life.

We still have three components outstanding..... Here is what we have so far.

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to have a post like this stickied and update it as prizes are chosen. I would like to be able to go straight to a link like this, rather than read through the whole thread looking. What are your thoughts?

Perhaps, the prize winners can submit their choices via this thread and directly by message to a particular member (I am happy to volunteer) and then that person can edit a post that is linked to the FAQ page.

That is a good idea. The second post used to serve this purpose but now it's not updated until all combos are chosen and banners are made so it's nice and pretty.

I have already created this and stashed it somewhere that should be easy enough for everyone to find. To make it interesting, I will send 5 $hells to the first person to find it and post the correct link to it in the main tread.

Ready? Go.

Actually, I update that post with the combo summary charts that @Rednose58 creates for us. I don't wait for the banners, I simply replace the chart with banners when the banners are ready.

It's time for the fifth GranStand Challenge!! The first GranStand Challenge resulted in this and the most recent one resulted in this! Who's going to the next winner of an incredible sim racing wheel stand?? The GranStand Challenge V will span our August, September, and October seasons. At the end of these three short months, we will identify the drivers with a high number of GranStand points and enter them into a random drawing. The winner of the random drawing will win a GranStand wheel stand!!

Rules for the GranStand Challenge V:

    • One GranStand point will be awarded for each Sunday night race that a drivers competes in
    • Drivers who are not on the starting grid for any reason (network issues, lac, being late, protesting a combo, etc) will not receive a GranStand point
    • Any driver that is imposed a penalty by the stewards will also be docked an equal amount of GranStand points
    • The more GranStand points a driver has earned, the better odds he will have at winning the random prize drawing
    • GranStand points will be docked for inappropriate behavior in the lounge or on the thread (e.g. posting a public racing complaint instead of filing an incident report)
    • The prize will not be shipped outside the United States or Canada unless the winner makes his own arrangements to do so

Don't forget your exclusive SNAIL discount on all GranStand products!
