The more realistic these games and sims get, and the more supported options for controllers and wheels to use, the more options there are going to be to tweak and adjust that the player is going to have to learn to use.

The days of plug and play are fading away when it comes to racing games / sims.

Excellent point.

There are nearly infinite options in tweaking real vehicles, so as a simulation approaches reality, it's options will naturally become reflective of that.

Yep, it's become laughable how many buttons I use on a "controller" now. I purchased a keypad for my DS4 mainly to type messages easier, but soon realized how I can utilize it to control things in Project cars. You figure I have every button my my DS4 mapped for something specific (excpet Xup and down on the L stick, left and right on the R stick). Then I've added 6, yes six, just for seat adjustments, three more to toggle ABS, TC, and SC, one to request pit stop, one to toggle driver names, two for ignitinion and engine start, there's a 4 direction button which I've mapped two for altering brake bias. I think that MIGHT be it. So I'm at a total of 33 different actions all actuated by two thumbs and two fingers. My gosh, that's even more absurd that I thought...

PCARS ain't no Sunday drive either. There are enough global settings that can be changed that keep folks busy fiddling.

Me being a controller user makes it very difficult. I've become a lot more comfortable with the game, but in recent testing for WRRC, I've found there are still some cars are that are absurdly difficult to just keep in a straight line with a DS4. I'm just gonna be out to lunch on those nights, and that's just the way it is. These new games offer a ton of setup options and it's easy to convince oneself that the problem is in the game settings rather than the hands. This is something I learned racing rc cars. A lot of it is in peoples heads. The game settings help, that is true; but at some point we have to come to the reality that the more "real" these things become, the harder they get. We don't have to spend hours testing settings, but people do because they sell themselves on the "easy button".

LOL, all my time I've spent testing, I have yet to even think of an easy button. Now that you've mention it, I'm going to start looking and keep telling myself that. or selling myself that. I try and figure out simulation racing, not so easy with Project Cars. Real easy button to run 44 laps shoot out race with no other factors involved. But i'll look for the easy button in the other have of the game. But Come On Man, lol

Really? Just because I point out the fact that some people may spend a lot of time looking for a crutch inside of all the settings, doesn't mean I assume that everybody is.

Ok fair enough, but don't you like the come on man, cheers man. Check out the video in WRRC. Them damn things ain't no easy button for sure.

Hehe... I'm guessing he's a football commentator? I know little of such activities. :)

I always worried about that but this one is stronger steel and bigger than most others. I have it on my wishlist an stupid Amazon tells you when someone bought something if you click on it so I know I'm getting it. I'd like it to be better than my current bed-side stand setup and hate to ask them to return it because it's not so good.

Great so I made my parents waste 90 bucks on a gift.... I'd hate to make them return it and hey something else. Can it be modified?

I find this very weird. 12 hours ago you asked anyone if they had experience with this wheel stand:

Has anyone seen this in person or have any experience with it?

Now you're telling us that you "already bought it", what's the point of asking then?

That is the stand I have. It's a waste of money. It squeaks when turning in corners, its not very stable at all. And you can not use the shifter without modifications or you will yank it right off the stand.
How squeaky is it? I wear headphones when playing so I probably won't hear it. It looked good based on the reviews and what not. My shifter is attached to the DFGT, so you're saying there isn't enough room for it to lay flat? It floats on the side?

I just saw it on the front stoop yesterday on my way to work so they must've bought it within the last week or so. I never once said I was buying it for myself. Whatever though, I'll figure it out eventually.
