The Mini TT has the wrong minimum weight limit.

Like I said, if it's overflowing. If there's 18 total people wanting to practice tonight, I don't see how 2 lobbies with 16/2 makes more sense than 9/9

Why don't you open a D1-D4 Practice room tonight and @racingchamp30 opens a D3-D4 room.

We tried it before and it wasn't very successful, but recently the practice room were full almost every Thursday.

The other reason is that people come in a bit late too, so the room is only filling up by around 8 PM. So, with two rooms opened early then both rooms are fairly empty.

Maybe everybody do one warm-up race with Racingchamp and then SAM can open another room. D1, D2 and anybody else who want to go with the faster guys can join SAM's room.

Whaddaya think penguin and birdy?

That's a girls car !

I'll park my car in her garage. LoL

After playing Baseball, Fast-pich Softball and, yes, Slow-pitch (only game anymore) ..... for over 45 yrs of my life, I had to work extremely hard at Golf.
What I thought would be "easy" - turned out to be tremendously more difficult than expected. Scoring Par over 18 holes, consistently, sounds easier than it is.

44

it makes sense for the 16 that make it to the 1st room.. and 2 that get screwed !

I think they are going to split the room after race 1. I saw another room open but network issues won't let me join it.

Too many problems- I'm out

I don't mind one room but on the reverse grid race the D1 and D2 guys have to be more patient and pass cleanly, not just when they know they can go through a turn faster

I debated whether or not I should bother responding to this same old tired nugget being rolled out time after time after time. Not because I don't agree that faster drivers in mixed division practice rooms should be patient and pass cleanly. Everyone should. It's the lack of balance that irks me.

The regular inference is that the D1 and D2 drivers are driving dirty and I don't believe this is fair. In my opinion, which is based on over 2 years experience racing in this great league, there is generally a very decent bunch of drivers in those divisions who make genuine efforts to race with respect. Do they/we always get it right?........the short answer is no but does anyone always get it right?

I nearly always enjoy Thursday night mixed division practice rooms. We all share a common interest and, aside from the racing, it's a chance for guys from different divisions to mix together socially and share a bit of banter and a laugh in a more relaxed atmosphere that may be experienced on a Sunday night. That is great and how it should be but it is true that there can be problems when a large field of drivers with mixed skill levels race together. However, I do not believe these problems can be solely blamed on the presence of faster drivers. I know for a fact that I have been knocked off track far more often by drivers below D1/D2 level during these races but I fully accept that doesn't mean they were driving dirty and I don't go out of my way to lecture those people as to how they should drive. More often than not they put their hand up anyway.

I'm not immune to making my own errors that have caused problems for other drivers but I do find it ironic how often over the years I have been involved in SNAIL that it is the people who are most vociferous about other people's driving standards are so often guilty of poor driving standards themselves. They, including some who are no longer members, will tend to overreact, rant and rave, rage quit or sometimes even go so far as to seek retribution by deliberately crashing into those they feel has wronged them and that for me is a real no no.

Sorry about that one race when I was only seeing 4 but there were 8 on track. I guess I learned to always ask & check numbers even when just practicing. Seemed odd at the time, so many in the room and just me out in front dominating the race! No harm intended, but apparently a bit done! :boggled: Everyone's attitude on Thursday has been good for me. Kggfy, just laughed at the fact that I didn't know he was on track and apparently drove him into the wall.

held my true feelings given that there are forum rules to abide by. But Turnip pretty much nailed it!

Room full

I think they are going to split the room after race 1. I saw another room open but network issues won't let me join it.

This is the problem we face on Thursdays, people can't get in because the room is full and then people are scrambling to open a second lobby. This is why I made that post yesterday to try and make things a little more organised.

Unless anyone objects, I'd like to open a second lobby after racingchamp makes his. Perhaps a D1-D2 lobby. Anyone that wants to race can join racingchamp. But if a D1/D2 guy wants a more competitive playing field (which is what I consider real practice) then he can join the D1/D2 lobby.

I feel like if I can average 3 seconds faster a lap than the guy in front of me, how is it really practice for me? I'm not going to be 3 seconds faster than a D1 guy race night. Conversely, the guy ahead of me also wont have to worry about holding off such a fast guy come Sunday. He'll be running similair times, so he wont feel the need to push so hard if he's getting tailgated around the circuit and perhaps make a mistake he wouldn't normally make. At least that's my logic.

Any other night I'm more than happy to run with all divisions. I've been on a lot lately, in fact I'll be opening a prac lobby shortly.

Let me know what you guys think. Happy Friday

It's all the G29 lol

Hopefully mine will have the same effect on me! It certainly feels better, but I am still learning the brakes - as evidenced by that first chicane last night. It didn't help that I hadn't practiced that combo yet.
Many thanks to you Birdy, JamCarOne, RayzaBlayz and others who have given me tips on the starting process, it's been a huge help.

With this in mind I agree completely with turnedup. I really enjoy the mixed level racing on Thursdays. I'm still getting used to all of this and it gives me a good opportunity to learn my limits and how to drive cleanly in the pack. Also being D4 I'm not looking to win those races because it's not realistic, but it's a huge opportunity to watch the D1-D2 drivers perform and learn from them how it's done - including aggressive but clean passing. It's a great platform for all this experience without the pressure of trying to win or setting yourself up for an IR.

Is there any interest for Friday Night Practice?

I'm going to open that Celica room I was talking about, maybe I should do that at 8:30, then it can evolve into a combo practice room?
Actually, I will do it at 8:30 and take it from there...

When the Fast guy are in the lobby with the slow guys the fast guys should be working on where and how to pass. I've talked to a few higher division guys who prefer to run with the slow guys for this very reason. Even when we consistently had more than just the 1 practice room they would come into the slow room so that they could practice their passes even stopping on track to allow everyone pass to work over the pack.

You are how ever right if you are coming into a practice room with the slow guys looking to do just outright pace then running with the fast guys is what you are needing. It's all about what you are looking for with in the practice room.

As for opening a second practice room it should be done at some point when the room starts to get full and everyone should voluntarily split up to keep the rooms consistent if it's a full room or just 14 the rooms should be split evenly.

Practice rooms are for more than just practicing they are also a great recruitment tool. Having someone new and slow go into the fast guys room could be detrimental to the growth of snail same goes for having full rooms all the time.

The brakes are the hardest part to adjust with the G29. You feel like you're going all the way but you're not. Good for cars with no ABS but otherwise you're not braking as hard as you can and for a chicane that's important. I'm with ya man

 GOOD LUCK THIS SUNDAY EVERYONE

RACE HARD / RACE CLEAN / RACE SNAIL

Thank you very much for the kind words @Wolfsatz. I always try my best to be a smooth, consistent and respectful driver ( unless of course @Die_Birdy_Die is on track :mischievous: ) As for being fast that's a whole different ball game. Getting it all to mesh is the tough part.
