G27 users have 2 inexpensive options. The GTEYE brake spring is on the left; Nixim Mod V2 on the right. PM me if you need a link to my review.

I am thinking of getting the AP Electrix load cell. Any thoughts on it? I have seen the Inside sim review but would love to know if anyone has had a good experience with it in GT5.

Imma choose the DB9 to replace the Mclaren.

Aston Martin it is ^^

EDIT: Also, for this week only, I'm going to take the Light blue with Orange rims to act as the Gulf livery ;).

Dibs on that color choice if you do not stick to that permanently as I have been seeing to many white cars:(

Brilliant Idea especially form someone so far north;)

It's a great colour scheme that only truly suits Aston Martins, Ford GTs, and Mclarens :)

Haha...yeah... so far north eh? >.>

True on the list but heck traditions have to start somewhere and there are too many white color schemes right now.

Edit: Actually I think Exoshere is already running that combo (Sky Blue/Orange). Maybe I should do Orange with Blue;)

Normally you wait until confirmation/final/official results to choose anything. Maybe you'll end up with prize A, Higher. Maybe a different combo will be getting eliminated (voting can change if a prize winner gets penalized and moves down)

Thanks, but I guess you missed this post. No worries this time though. I've read the rulings on the penalty against one of the prize winner and it doesn't appear that his penalty will cost him the prize he won. More importantly, since the prize winners' votes aren't counted, this means the results of the elimination vote will likely remain unchanged.

Yet DLC tracks are? Hmm. *Scurries to first page*

That's correct. The consensus opinion was that DLC tracks are much more popular than DLC cars. This is likely due to the small number of tracks in the game relative to the large number of cars.

I thought car colors were to help identify the Driver, so wouln't Changing colors as a fashion statment every week defeat that purpose?

I was going to say the same thing, but then Bowler PM'd me that he won't be home when the results are posted. Let's just let it slide this week. I'll edit the message at the bottom of the results post to read to wait for your "all clear" post before announcing their selections. 👍

That is true, but the Car Colour/Number program is optional, highly encouraged, but optional. So not everyone is running the same colours week to week anyway.

I tend to agree with you. I think we should make setting and sticking with your colors more of a priority, lest we have chaos!

For the SNAILs that have been around for a while, I told everyone a while back what I would do if I got to choose the car and track. I will not go back on my word so my selection for car and track combo is:

Corvette Z06 C5 ('04) @ Motegi Superspeedway

Let the complaining begin but before you complain about oval racing requiring no skill, you must explain why not one single driver was able to pass me (and make it stick for more than 100 ft.) when we ran at Indy Superspeedway.

Because you're better than everyone else

Can I complain now???

This should be interesting, that's going to be a lot of corners for the rubber to go around. If memory serves, Motegi is fairly short?

Better than everyone else on an oval? Maybe. Motegi is a mile and a half and it's on sports softs. It won't be anything like the Viper at Indy on race mediums.

I ran some laps to see how the car handled and it was good but you could lose it if you're not paying attention. Two different corners to deal with. I forgot to pay attention to lap times but I would guess we will push 20 laps.

The only problem with this track...and I love it btw, very fun with a few people...is when you get 10-12 people on there. It could get pretty hairy...the leaders will hit lapped traffic pretty quickly as well.

Fun...but may be problematic with more than 8 people.

I doubt you should count your "better than everyone else on an oval" chickens before they are hatched though ;)

I tried to be funny, fell flat again. Note to self, work on delivery.

Hadn't thought of the tires being Sports Softs, you're right, shouldn't be an issue. New most laps record on a Sunday Night in S.N.A.I.L. 👍

YES, oval racing in SNAIL! I am pumped for this weekend! When it comes to the color choice program, I was under the impression that it was optional. I think if people want to change their car colors they should, and I don't see any problem with duplicate colors.

Granted, it is nice to be able to tell at a glance who you're racing arround, but the same rules apply to everyone, so it really shouldn't make a difference.

Well then.... Better not get lapped!

I originally tried to order the AP Electrix load cell and placed my preorder twice. Never heard back. I think it's some guy building them in his garage in his spare time. Anyway, I'm certain you would need a full race rig to take advantage of a load cell. The nixim is already at the limit of what a normal wheel stand can accomadate without losing stability. The other concern is the that GT5 auto calibrates the brake and gas pedals "on track" and there are no adjustments available for dead zone etc.

Both of the brake upgrades I tried are a huge improvement over the "toy" spring shipped with the G27. The GTEYE is specifically designed to work within GT5 with it's lack of deadzone adjustments and such. Having said that, if I ever hear back from the guy working in his garage I might order it and try it out.

The same rules apply to everyone but let me lay this one on you:

It's the last race of the night and zer0 and I are tied up in the points race. We hit a straight and in the relative downtime I check my rear view mirror. What do I see behind me but the familiar white and red of a car piloted by zer0? Of course I know it's him because we've raced together a lot and I recognize his color combination. I don't have to push the "look behind" button and check for his name. That quick glance lets me know that I had better keep my head down and my knuckles white if I want to beat him in the points.

That doesn't work quite so nicely when people are driving different colors for every car or night, nor when three people are running the white and red. Sure, the driver list down the right displays the same info, if you have it displayed, but it's the recognition and reaction that's great.

True.

It is more convienient to have unique color combinations, but I don't think its something you should have to legislate. If you have a color combo that you like, you should be able to run it. Thats my stance anyway.

Speaking of paint colors, there's already quite a few silver cars. Does anyone have a matte light silver chip they might be able to send my way? I don't know what I can send in return, just ask.

Well then.... Better not get lapped!

It's gonna happen. Especially if the lap count is higher than 10ish. All it will take is one or two laps where a few people go in a little too hot and drift up high toward the wall. You lose so much momentum that you will get lapped by the 3 or 4 people that make no mistakes.

This is not usually an issue on a standard track or really long ovals like Indy or Daytona.

Anyways...should be interesting to see how people deal with lapped traffic.

Well, then. Ahem!:

S.N.A.I.L. OLR
C:
Drivers that are about to get lapped have to make sure not to interfere with the lapping cars. The driver being lapped should stay on the racing line but slow down just enough to allow the lead driver an easy pass. Keep your racing line predictable and try to stay out of the way.

I'll hook you up a in a little bit.

Thanks for that. My rig is fairly permanent and will not effect the wheel as they are totally sperate. I had read something about the brakes calibrating on Track and that is what prompted me to ask about the AP Electrix mod. Have you seen a good explanation as to how GT5 calibrates the brake?
