ASM, Please, God. No.

Do you guys race with a wheel or controller? It might be more difficult to countersteer and correct after a bump with a wheel.

I use a wheel. I do not use ASM and don't know what effect it would have. But, it certainly seemed like I was being knocked off the track very easily relative to the other cars. I will have a lot better feel for things after the next time I race. 4 things I learned so far, 1 - change the oil, 2 - break the car in, 3 - you can change the color of your car body and wheels, and 4 - practice. Well, make that 5 things, you can use the power limiter. lol!

I ask because I did see the results of the first race and one of the tracks was Spa - which is DLC.

It's not a big deal, I just wanted to know what's cool, and what's not.

Thanks Diabolic! :D

Correct. We did run Spa (in an audi if I recall) but we had a much smaller crowd. I see how that looks hippocratic, and honestly I have no excuse. :indiff:

Sorry I don't have an answer for you.

When Spa was on the line-up, it was when anyone could race on it as long as the host owned the DLC. Therefore, it wasn't a big deal if anyone didn't own the DLC because at least I did and so anyone could race on Spa without a problem. But then we skipped two Sundays in a row because Christmas and New Year's Day both fell on Sunday. During that break, Polyphony Digital released the 2.02 update which prevented anyone who didn't own the DLC from racing on a DLC track, regardless of whether the host owned the DLC or not.

Once we realized that the new 2.02 update might cause an issue, we took an informal poll to see if anyone in the league did not own the DLC so that we could replace Spa with another track if necessary. However, it turned out that everyone had purchased that DLC anyways so we were able to keep Spa on the line-up. The conversation about all of this starts here and lasts for just a few posts.

Don't worry about it, hun, I don't have my heart set on any of the DLC tracks, I was just curious. It's all good. 👍

Thank you Zero for the insight. I'm a little curious though, who in our group as DLC and which ones. Perhaps a poll is in order? There is going to be more DLC to come out (and there should be DLC this month) it would be fun (at some point) to run some old favorite tracks that might be offered as DLC. Now please bare with, I'm not suggesting we give a big ole' middle finger to the SNAIL members that don't have DLC. I'm just curious how many SNAIL members have DLC and it would be nice to know if we All have, then those cars and tracks should be a legal selection. ..okay, I'm rambling, sorry.

Same here, wheel. Originally I got the wheel because I heard that it was faster and all the majority of top 10 drivers on special even leader boards ran wheels. That was WAY before I knew exactly how off I was with my driving, so in hind sight, the wheel may have been premature, especially judging by how fast some of our SNAILs are with the controller...Diabolic and who knows if there are more. But, now that I have it, I love it. I went with the standard logitec gt wheel and am still experimenting with both the options menu settings for feedback and the sensitivity settings. As far as sensitivity, I have a really hard time telling the diff between say -2 all the way to left, and 7, to the right. May be my imagination, but when I was running it at 7, my times were way off, and going into walls was pretty common, but at zero, things seem a bit better, but it's not noticable in any other way. But you have a good point, perhaps settings have alot to do with reaction to things like bump, correction, etc etc. I've also assumed that it only applies to the steering wheel, but if it also applies to the brakes, that could be a big problem to actually. Just another technical part to hash out aside from my skill issues.

Ok fella's, heres the deal for tonight, its a kei car challenge. no pp limit, but there will be a hp limit of 65hp, and if I can set it too, a weight max of 820kg. No tune, SH tires as usual. remember, Kei car. small, japanese, no civics, or other such nonsense, as those are not kei cars.
the second hour is good old C&M with a kei twist as well. (notice Im going for a running theme for these nights!) with kei's as the mouse, probably, rx7/supra/skylines as the cat, and a gt500 car as the wild. for more info, see here.

Car & Track Selection

Okay, I've been giving it some thought, and I've finally made my choice.

The Car:
Honda S2000 `06

The Track:
Toscana (Tarmac) / Time Change
Time: 18:00
Time Progression: 1

I think this is going to be a fun and yet challenging track, I've decided to make the time change as slow as possible to allow all SNAIL members to be as clean as possible.

I love night racing! adds a new element, thats why my first hour on mondays is ran at night. Well, that and its touge racing.

I haven't been on it yet Rally, but i believe that's a day track at that time (don't quote me tho).

S2000 eh, not my first choice but then again, i wasnt fast enough to claim a prize A/B :(

Good job to all last night!

*Edit* Hogster you need to post here to sign up.

okay, noob question.. how do I access the Toscana Tarmac circuit you have chosen?

I know for a fact there were posts after my mine - where did they go?

*EDIT - Nevermind :dunce:

You can only practice this course online. There is no way to access this track for single player practice mode. This will encourage everyone to practice more online and get a feel for the online physics rather than doing everything offline, although that is not why I picked this course.

To answer your question, you will need to be in a lobby or a public room and in the list of tracks is Toscana / Time Change 2.12 miles.

Confirmed. This is indeed a track creator version. Toscana no parenthesis is the only not creator version of the track. which is a gravel course. Im not opposed to this, however, there will be no way to practice before the event.

If that's the case, then I'm good with that, if everyone else is.

Zero, we need a ruling on this, please.

For those who are interested, you may join my lounge for practice and classroom studies.

I have an idea that I'd like to run by the membership here. I have in the past organized some longer races and race series that include the freedom to select any car that meets the event requirements. These races have been very well received by those that have participated in them and I'm thinking of bringing some of these races to S.N.A.I.L.

Generally speaking, the races would last around an hour and there would be a HP, Weight, and Drivetrain restriction in addition to prohibited tuning. Car selection would be limited to any production vehicle (this means no concepts, tuners, or racecars of any kind).

I would be looking for this to run once a month or maybe every other week on a Saturday. Time is open to discussion. If there is any interest in doing something like this, let me know and I will hammer out a set of rules specific to the event. Any suggestions are welcome.

I'd participate in this, rounds the S.N.A.I.L. slate out quite nicely.

Sorry, but please pick another track. If nobody's able to practice on the track, it'll spread out the field on race day. Any track that can be practiced is fair game (unless it includes the Nordschleife or the words "Route 7" in the name lol)

I obviously had the limiter on last night. Just ran a 1'52 at Daytona in my lounge.

Stupid. stupid. stupid
