Jobyone and all fellow SNAIL's that helped with my MT transition. What a difference. Only seven laps into practicing using Jobyone's practice technique and have already dropped 3 seconds off my best AT lap time.

Driving a pretty poor line due to watching the tach also. Gotta learn to listen. Challenging but fun.

Thanks guys. Nearly breaking into the 1:49's with the Suzuki.

Just as a reminder guys my Drift Event will be on Monday around the usual S.N.A.I.L. time in a public lobby. I will post the room number about 10 minutes before the event begins. The only restrictions will be a 500 HP cap limit and Comfort Hard tires. Bring what you got and put on a good show!

Don't bother watching the tach. Just listen for the motor to hit the "chip", otherwise known as the rev limiter. After a few times your brain will make the connection and associate the tone of the motor with the need for more speed and tell yer fingers to get on with it.

January Division winners are...??
It's been two weeks since we finished January. Results are typically posted within 4 days. I know there was some close division races that came down to the final week.

hi i would like to join
Hey the tank,

Thanks for your interest! I hope you drive fast with tires rather than treads:) We are always happy to have drivers who race clean. Here's what you need to know and do in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You run the Time Trial. (NOTE: The tires selected for this have more grip than our current tire regulations allow, but please follow the directions exactly anyways).
2. You PM kcheeb with your time from the time trial (no Sunday racing until this is completed).
3. We assign you to the division that we feel will give you the closest competition.
4. We send you a you a PSN friend request from the corresponding SNAIL_Division1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 account. That PSN account's lounge is where you will race on Sunday night.
6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

The original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

Please note that we often race DLC from three add-on packs:

Racing Car Pack
Course Pack
Twin Ring Motegi Pack

If you don't have these add-on packs, you will need to sit out the races in which they are used.

If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, post your choices in this thread.
To avoid duplication, the currently claimed combinations can be found here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.

Welcome to S.N.A.I.L.

Yeah I agree! I had a chance to watch the second race and it was incredibly close for almost the entire race. 👍

If anyone is free on Saturday nights, be sure to head over to S.P.E.C. and get in on the action! :)

Wolf and I ran another trial run of the SNAILary Cap races ad DrGreen joined in for a few. Wolf won two and I won two. He got the pole bonus so would have won the night. We had a good time and I think we are on to something here. I will start a thread tomorrow and start posting all the info I have been preparing.

One thing I have started to put together is a list of known PP of cars. While I have not checked everything I did find two discrepancies. My 200 mile Renault 5 has a PP of 395 and my 0 mile Stratos has a PP of 417. I am breaking in the Stratos now but I am pretty sure it was from the OCD so I think 417 will be the final PP.

I think this will be one of the difficult area of this idea is making sure we all know what the PP of the cars are. I will post more info in the thread I start but any thoughts you guys have about how we should go about dealing with the PP value of cars would be appreciated.

Have volunteers post their highest PP of the cars that people want to use?

I don't know… I know that my used cars tend to have more PP than the average person's. I always restore all of mine.

That is one of the biggest variables, for example, if I only change the oil on the Lancia Stratos it gets up to 404, but I'm sure that if I restore the engine it will go higher... perhaps to 417. I will test this as I have 2 Lancias.

Announcing the February Lineup for S.N.A.I.L. SPEC Racing

The Drivers List has been updated with Promotions and Relegation's for the month of February.

I'd like to point out there's no clear cut formula for getting promoted or relegated. We take into account a number of factors to determine candidates for promotion and relegation. Once we've identified the drivers, we analyze the data at our disposal and make sure the people being moved fit into the Division they're being moved to. Then we pull the trigger :dopey:

Some of the criteria for being ELIGIBLE to be promoted or relegated are:

1. Points for the month
2. Race pace
3. Individual Lap Times
4. Number of times you've raced that month.
5. How you compare to other racers in your division and the division you're a candidate for.
6. How many drivers are in each division.
7. How cleanly you've raced this past month.

Why do we do this?

1. To get you involved in races you will be racing in, not just driving.
2. To incent you to improve your driving and racecraft.
3. To give you something to strive for.
4. To make it possible for you to have fun playing GT5.

We want you to be in good, close, clean racing 👍

If you have any questions or concerns about promotion or relegation, feel free to pm me. I'd be more than happy to talk to you about it.

N.B. If you were promoted or relegated and don't have access to the lounge you're assigned to for the February season, please send a PSN Friend Request to the appropriate SNAIL_DivisionX account. If for some reason your Friend Request is not accepted later today, let us know asap!

Cheers and good racing all!

kcheeb

FTFY, no 1st gen rx-7s are in this game, to my extreme sadness.

PP will be variable based on mileage. I believe that after 15,000 miles cars begin to loose PP that will never be gained back even with an engine rebuild. I will try to find the thread that outlines this.

That being said I do not want to be to heavy handed Policing this. But if we get some volunteers that will check PP we should be able to build a list. I will be looking for some PP Validators:) It is something I will not mind doing. There is also this site. They are still updating after the 2.10 update but some good PP numbers can be found there.

My thought is that we take people at their stated PP unless the site above is up to date for the car and has a higher value. If we find out that the PP is higher we just make a note of it and next time it is used the higher value kicks in.

That is true. thanks for the heads up. That should be 2nd gen RX-7s. For those of you that are not experts on the RX-7, 2nd gen in GT5 is any RX-7 that's 1991 and older. I believe there are a few standard ones as well as the '90 model in the new car dealership.

There is also this site.

Those numbers have always been pretty iffy. I'll help validate cars based on the highest number that I have…pool a few people's numbers and we should manage to find a good one to go off of.

A similar thing has had to be done in SCT. There is a cap of limiting to 90% of full engine power. I am consistently seeing cars in there that I could not get in due by limiting because my cars are well-kept. People running around with the oil light on because it lowers the PP are, in my mind, not "participating by the expected standards of self-governance and good conduct." ;)
