Hmm, open–wheel night has some promise. Would really mix things up. INeed to think about this for a bit.

I initially thought that also but if you look at it it is not although I would include it as the spirit of the car says open wheel to me.

Sooo. I start a new job tomorrow and I am most likely working weekends. I don't know how that will affect my Sunday nights yet but it does not look good to be honest. Ugh being a grown up sucks

Thanks for your interest! We would love to have you in the league.
Here's what you need to know and do in order to join:
We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:
1. You run the Time Trial. (NOTE: The tires selected for this have more grip than our current tire regulations allow, but please follow the directions exactly anyways).
2. You PM kcheeb with your time from the time trial (no Sunday racing until this is completed).
3. We assign you to the division that we feel will give you the closest competition.
4. We send you a you a PSN friend request from the corresponding SNAIL_Division1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 account. That PSN account's lounge is where you will race on Sunday night.
5. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍
The original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.
Please note that we often race DLC from three add-on packs:

Course Pack
Twin Ring Motegi Pack
If you don't have these add-on packs, you will need to sit out the races in which they are used.
If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, post your choices in this thread.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.

You have a good point. Originally I was thinking about running 3 different combos every week, but there is merit in having one car for the weekly event and run it on 3 different tracks. Prizes would probably be something like:
1st Place Picks next weeks car (must be changed)
2nd Place picks new track #1
3rd Place picks new track #2
4th place picks new track #3
Tracks are picked after car selection has been made.

For the S.N.A.I.L. Open-wheel Racing idea, I have some pretty cool promo T-shirts for F1 2012 that I can offer as prize support. I know that's not the same game as GT5, but you guys will be racing F1 cars so it's close enough!

I need a banner for inspiration but have never made one
How do I get a number of cars on the banner at the same time? I envision all the cars jumping out of the banner in a cloud of dust with the F2007 in the middle. Title could be "Open-Wheel Shoot Out" by SNAIL SPEC Racing. Sort of a outlaw theme to it. 💡
How do I do that? I have the full Photoshop but haven't used it. Can someone offer some suggestions?

I just had an idea for the open wheel series. Instead of different cars why not one car every night (I think that's the general consensus) and three tracks, but have different tires used on different tracks? I think it would be loads of fun to go from sports medium to sports soft then racing hard. Or if you're crazy like me we could do comfort soft, sports medium, and racing hard!

I know, I know, a horrible analogy.... But as soon as I hear let's race on comfort anything, that's about what I feel like doing.
Racing should be done on race tires.
I don't care if the game doesn't model grip accurately or not. Since I'm lacking 2 of the 6 senses I would otherwise use to help me drive, and at least one other sense is a bit hamstrung, I feel ok with being compensated with slightly less than realistic grip models.

Agreed. Putting anything but race tires on an F1 car shouldn't even be allowed. Further, I want to race, not fight against a car on the wrong tires and also race.

You would actually be surprised how good the F2007 feels on CS tires. It's probably better than the FGT on RH tires. But yeah, any organized F1 racing will be done on RS tires.
