I know I got bashed last time for bringing these cars up, but I'd love a Red Bull Junior, LCC Rocket or WSR Senna series. Or KTM X-Bow Street (can haz color change and numbers). Track cars. But the same one for an entire season/month or two. We all loved the Senna. This way don't have to worry about it leaving week to week and can try it at all sorts of tracks.

I think SNAIL should remain just a Gran Turismo leauge. Experience with a thousand member racing group since 2007 I can tell you splintering up by adding different sims only splinters the group and weakens the league in a myriad of ways.
I see your point, but were the different sims you referred to on the same platform or different platforms? The reason I ask is because I don't know if having an option on a different platform would necessarily cause a splinter per se. For example, before GT6 was launched, there was a lot of speculation on whether it would be a PS3 title or a PS4 title. Back then, I openly hoped that it would be a PS3 title because it would be bad for SNAIL if it was a PS4 title. That's because our members would have to buy a new (and expensive) console in order to enjoy the latest and greatest version of Gran Turismo. Obviously some would do exactly that, but many wouldn't - thus splitting the league. Thankfully, GT6 is a PS3 game so crisis was averted.

That being said, SNAIL will eventually have to deal with the transition to the PS4. There's simply no getting around the fact that GT7 will be a PS4 title. My only hope is that by the time GT7 launches, the PS4 isn't considered a "want to have" console, but as a "need to have" console. And that definitely seems like it could happen since all indications are the Sony have won (or at least have a sizable lead in) the latest console war. Obviously, the more of us that have a PS4 (or are willing to go buy it) when GT7 is released, the easier our transition to GT7 will be. 👍

while i don't have experience in a league other than SNAIL (see, no dots!) I am anticipating purchasing a ps4 and project cars (and gt7 of course) at some point. I wouldn't want to race with any league other than SNAIL. my thinking is why wouldn't you have the best league on the planet encompass other sim racing titles? I feel the focus on clean racing first is a rarity in the online racing community. There are other leagues out there but SNAIL is THE league to promote the clean racing we all love. I have been online racing in other titles like grid autosports and the f1 series and have thought, if only SNAIL were present this would be so much better. I'm not asking for SNAIL to take on these other titles at this time but project cars seems like such a step forward that it should be at least seriously considered being taken in under the SNAIL umbrella.
Speaking of GRID, we actually did have a brief experiment with GRID 2. However, I think the reason it didn't really last long was because everyone who owned GRID 2 already owned GT5 as well. And given the fact that everyone else was still playing GT5, there wasn't a long-lasting desire to play GRID 2. However, Project CARS might be a different story. There could be plenty of people who buy Project CARS for their PS4's in the spring that don't have GT6 or even a PS3 for that matter.

And perhaps that's where my underlying concern is. What is Project CARS is so awesome that it blows anything that GT7 will offer out of the water. The previews and hype around this title are stellar, which is why it interests me (notice I'm not suggesting tat we have a Drive Club league ;)) In a nutshell, I'm not interested in having a SNAIL event for every sim under the sun, but the appetite for a quality sim (Project CARS) on the premier next-gen console (PS4) might be something that changes the game in a way that results in our beloved Gran Turismo franchise no longer being the king of console-based racing sims. :boggled:

I have something for people to think about for Tues. Since the Wed.Nite Race Car Series is such a hit and is making some really close tight racing. How bout Touring Car Tuesday where each season has a different Touring Car only that everyone competes in. Stock settings etc kinda like the Wed.nite series. The racing I bet would be ultra tight for that also.
as for touring car tuesday, that sounds like it would be a great event to get into. Love me some touring cars!
my two cents.
EDIT: once again posting from phone (don't have a computer) and i apologize for the quotes being messed up.
I like the idea too! We've had a lot of SNAIL events in the past (and have had even more proposed events), but I think this is the first time that anyone's suggested a touring car event. It's an especially catchy suggestion to me since "Touring Car Tuesday" definitely rolls off the tongue. :D

And yeah, if it's anything like Wednesday's Race Car Series, then we'd be in for a real treat. Everyone please reply to this post if you'd be interested in a Tuesday Touring Car Series (so that we can gauge interest).

Or if you have another idea for a Tuesday night event, then post that too! The idea that gets the most interest, wins. :)

I need some mid-division lap times....

@DMacs13 you are on the clock for Prize A. If you have not made a selection by noon eastern time on Wednesday (that's a little over 36 hours since the all clear was given) your prize will be opened up to anyone who raced in your division to make one suggestion for the entire league to vote on those suggestions for Prize A.

So... Is the Drive Train Challenge (DTC) no longer a SNAIL affiliated event?

I haven't seen anything on karts of late.

That's correct. DTC is no longer affiliated with SNAIL and our Kart event fizzled out for various reasons.

In regards to project cars i dont think it will blow GT7 out the water. Many have tried and failed. But it will be the first decent racing sim (as described by the media) for the PS4. I believe that they may one day be able to compete with GT. However the way i see it the GT franchise has got years of data, knowledge and expierience in this genre, dont think they will allow another to come in and blow them out the water on there first outing. I do think that it will be good for GT as competition might be what they need to bring there future titles to the forefront in technology and maximise thier potential. Instead of sitting back resting on they're lawrels and putting out incomplete titles.

Do you still have GT5 installed? If so, that's over 1/4 of your hard drive right there. GT6 is another 16GB or so. Games and their updates take up quite a bit of room. Go look for files in game data and you can see the various file sizes.

Thanks! Just deleted GT5 after saving the profile. Had not done it just becuase of nostalgic reasons.

right after that I got hit with a new GT6 update; i have not a new icon 'community' but did not let me see what it is... server undergoing maintenance.. Finally!

@GamingPete here are some PIX to play around for the banners.

Sounds like what you're looking for is something like @Oshawa-Joe's Open-Wheel series. I was actually mentioning to @Dragonwhisky last week that the Open-Wheel series might be due for a revival since the Senna proved to be such a popular car. 👍

I'd definitely join in on a Touring Car Tuesday event; the Wednesday RCS is awesome, and I think @brntguy is right about TCT pinching a bit of that same sunshine.

I'd also like to do more Oval races like the ones @JLBowler has run. @goofytyler and I were racing in Grid:Autosport earlier tonight on a tri-oval-ish track and it was a ton of fun; I think I even mentioned that I'd like to do another Bowler oval event while we were racing.

Since I'm wish-listing, I'd also like to do some races on the course I created in GT5 (the Mt Aso template) and that Welsh jump track. And karts too, and I like the idea of keeping them stock as someone else said earlier in this discussion.

Perhaps Tuesday could rotate through several different concepts, either week to week or month to month, or whatever. I'd like to do another Concourse Car Club, and I could do so in a Tuesday slot if desired. But I don't think that's a sustainable series - the price of the concourse-class cars are too damn high!

1.14..
I feel like its Christmas! lol :D

Probably just a one-year membership in the Jelly of the Month Club..
But... Its the gift that keeps on giving the Whooooole year!! Classic!!!

Once we get the course creator (depending on how much functionality it has), I think that could open up a whole new world for special events for SNAIL, or weekly events. Point to Point races, rally (dirt, snow, and tarmac), it will be interesting to see what it brings us!

Don't get too excited. I've learned that from the past, lol. The updates to Suzuka will be interesting. I will have to drive it and get used to the new course, find where the grip has changed.
