Thank you.

I agree totally with you on that one.
I don't seem to do very well with the slow plodding 4 cyl cars...I just bring my dog along so he can stick his head out the window. :D
I don't do well in the full on race cars either, but for some reason give me a high horsepower rear wheel drive car that's a little tail happy like that Ruff or the Aston or a Corvette, then I seem to get better results.

Different strokes for different folks as they say.
Yea ive noticed that about you paddy lol. you ever notice what happens when i get my hands on a FWD :mischievous:

If I could go back in time to when @Nail-27 started racing with SNAIL, I would have kept a running list of my favorite "Nailisms, or "Nedisms".

This one is a beauty:
Bro, he has so many good oes im surprised you didnt already startsaving them

To add to #TBT here are a few of cars that got me into cars:

Nissan Pulsar GTi-R

Nissan Skyline R32/33/34. I got to own one while stationed in Germany

Mitsubishi EVO 4. a family member owned one while playing pro bball overseas, fell in love with this car ever since

Throwback Thursday.
First car that took your breath away....below is a rare breed of cat....a Lotus BRM H-16 (two 1.5 litre V-8s joined at the crank...so to speak)...Jimmy Clark up. My first ever race.
He won when Lorenzo Bandini's Ferrari V-12 '66 blew up. But I had no idea what was going on only that I LOVED IT. I watched 6 more GPs at the Glen and another 30 or so all over the world but this was The Car, The Driver, The Track. I loved my '65 Mustang ( Ivy Green, Black Vinyl Roof, no scoop but pin stripe instead ) but it was....transportation.

Oh yea...that was the ONLY win for the BRM H-16 anywhere in any car. The next year Colin Chapman and Len Terry introduced the world to the Lotus 49 and the DFV Cosworth V-8 and life in F1 was forever changed.

Below is a picture taken by the photographer I was standing next to...top of the esses...a creative race fan will ALWAYS out smart Security and Track Marshals. :P

Jim Clark and his Lotus. In 1965 (lived in the UK then), my dad took me with him to the British F1 at Silverstone. I don't remember much from the race, I was five, except the noise and that green car! After the race, my dad bought me a Corgi F1 Lotus race car. I remember that thing never left my hands when I was at home. Wish I still had it today. Guess this explains my love of all things F1.
Plus my dad had a Mini-Cooper S (the family car!) and a bugeyed Sprite, I'm sure they helped in molding my curiosity for 4 wheels.

So, where did the sheep fetish come from?

An uncle who is like my father has one of this, it was back then my family car and I guess that his love and passion for this car were inherited by me.

My uncle's has a Renault 5 1.4L Alpine7Gordini engine, and even though is not fast is has some interesting features for a car like this. Like 50/50 weight distribution, flat floors, it sort-of middle engined (the box is in front of the engine so the engines is actually behind the front wheels), we have it lowered a bit and of course super lightweight! - It's not so fast but it is fun...

We still like it a lot, but it's in terrible shape. Actually thinking to restore it....

But off course I guess it was the Lamborghini Diablo and Mid 90's F1s that got me obsessed with cars and racing...

Unfortunately, I don't have much of a story at all. I don't come from a family of racers or even fans of racing or cars in general. Heck, I don't even know my father. I always admired sports cars as a kid but wasn't familiar with them, and really didn't see many in my "below average income" neighborhoods. I do recall being fond of C4 Corvettes as they were few and far between and the most exotic thing I'd really ever see.

I still see those C4 Corvettes around, they were, and still are, quite the car! I believe there's still one around Vancouver or Victoria that's regularly autocrossed, and does very well too!

Nothing but 410 sprintcars and where I group there was like ten dirt cars in my neighbor hood and the track was three blocks from my house so I group up at the track. nothing like dirt track racing like I said before nascar is going to be all dirt drivers someday. they just picked up rico that won the chille bowl last sunday and he won the king of cali and he is best friends with kyle Larson another dirt driver
Best one yet Dirt, my Enigma machine is working overtime to figure this one out.

The one that started it all for me... My dad's 1998 Campbell Formula Vee. One of three made world wide, and the only one in use as of last year. It came in a box as a bunch of metal and fiberglass in 2001, and my dad built it by himself in about a year. It's won both the CACC Open Wheel and Formula Vee championship a total of 7 times, held the track record at Mission Raceway from 2004 to 2012, and fetched a 2nd place in the First Annual Family Affair Racing Team Formula Vee Invitational. I'll get some pictures on here when I get a hold of a computer... GTP doesn't let me post photos from the ps3 :(

On the topic of "what got me into racing" :

I was born into it. Racing has always been a part of my life. Reaching back to my earliest memories I can recall going on camping trips to Watkins Glen and waking up to the sounds of cars racing around the circuit. My Dad , at heart, was a F1/ CanAm fan and brought us to several races there as kids.

I also remember playing the board game Speed Circuit with my older brothers.

A lot of time was also spent racing AFX slot cars. So Fun!
upload_2015-1-22_20-3-40.jpeg

But nothing compared to TCR slot-less racing. You could legitimately pass... and it even came with a "pace car"!!!!

There were several other racing games I 've already mentioned in past post that I wont bore you with now but
it seems I've been "virtually racing" for my entire life, however the past 4 months is probably the most fun I've ever had doing it!

That's a very nice tale .... brings back many fond memories of my days at the Glen. I grew up in Elmira, 20 miles away. The very first road race I ever saw was there ... The Grand Prix of the US, 1974.

I was hoping to join for last week's races, but I believe I posted my request in the wrong place (I put it http://www.snailracing.org/ .) So, maybe posting here may get a better response. My PSN username is F8T0RQUE360 (note the zero in t0rque), hope to see an invite to the club soon!

@Torque360

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @Dragonwhisky, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

Just got back from karting, so I'm not going to make practice tonight. Have fun guys.
Awesome job Coach, I'm just about to financially get into Karting next month too. Just sourcing competitive 125 shifters at the moment. We have an awesome track in Grand Junction, on the Colorado, Utah border. 1.3 miles. They've held the Nationals there a few times.

Good luck for the year, We'll have to share pictures? What a blast!
