I am feeling under the weather and will not be racing tonight unfortunately..
Good luck and have fun tonight everyone.

Sorry to hear, Paddy. Just like I missed racing my Toyota, you didn't get to race your favorite car last night. On the plus side I think it was popular and will stay around.

I had a great time racing everyone last night - Congrats to @JLBowler on the win!

Wow! Five flippin' years..what an amazing journey!! It was around this time of day five years ago that I made the very post of this thread. I tried to find the time stamp so that I could try to replicate the exact time, but it's not listed anymore. However, I did see that I've edited the original post a thousand times - literally 1,000 edits! Of course, it looks much different that it did five years ago. Thankfully, we have @Dragonwhisky's Mother Of All Posts which includes the original banner that we used along with a comprehensive overview of our first three (and most formative) years. The bottom of his MOAP also has some fun facts about our thread after three years. Well, he's managed to dig up some updated fun facts from @Jordan regarding this thread after five years. For example:
  • The thread has received over 4 million views. This makes it the third most-viewed thread on GTPlanet behind "GT5 News & General Discussion" (8.7 million views) and "Your MP3 playlists" (4.7 million views).
  • 922 people have subscribed to the thread. Of those, nearly half (429) have opted to get email updates for new replies. Each reply generates hundreds of alerts and emails (depending on how recently those subscribers visited the thread).
  • 1,165 people have participated in the thread.
  • 28 people have over 1,000 posts in the thread. Here's the top 5:
  1. @zer05ive - 4,991 posts
  2. @JLBowler - 3,543 posts
  3. @Dragonwhisky - 3,331 posts
  4. @Rallywagon - 3,220 posts
  5. @kcheeb - 3,171 posts
Looking at the top five posters, I can't help feel a great sense of gratitude to them all. I credit @kcheeb for being the catalyst of our initial growth as well as engineering our complex data and divisional structure. He and I spent many a long nights chatting on PS3 discussing all things SNAIL in an attempt to develop and maintain the league. Then along came @Dragonwhisky with his energetic passion and relentless determination. I credit him for leading SNAIL through the second chapter of our story, or the post-kcheeb era if you will. @Rallywagon is probably the most fun-loving guy you will ever come across. Hanging out with him in the lounges were always a blast, and of course he posts like a maniac lol. But my biggest thanks of all goes to @JLBowler. He is the only SNAIL leader to have been on this 5-year journey with me since the very beginning. If SNAIL was a car, he would be the engine; always doing the hard work under the hood, but rarely getting the attention or stares like a fresh coat of wax or a set of flashy rims. He is as big of a reason as anyone behind the success of this league and I am truly grateful for everything he does for us.

So what lies in store for the next chapter of SNAIL? All I can say is PS4. While the fact that GT6 was released on the PS3 (instead of on PS4) did us a lot of good, that was three years ago and the PS3 is now on its last legs. We plan on transitioning to the PS4 once GT Sport is released as quickly as can be done in a responsible manner. In other words, as quickly as we can while still ensuring that we have the structure in place to support multiple divisions, steward reviews, and everything else that you expect from SNAIL. That said, it's not a 100% guarantee that our future is with GT Sport. While we will hope and expect that GT Sport will give us all the features and capabilities we need to run SNAIL, we reserve the right to go in another direction if GT Sport lets us down in a big way. Bottom line, we're going to give GT Sport first dibs and see where it goes from there. So if you don't already have a PS4, be sure to add it to your Christmas wish list!

Oh and Happy Anniversary Snails!!

It actually does still tell you the original time on the first post, and any post. Just have to hover your cursor over the date.

There are a bunch of people that need to be thanked indeed, but biggest thanks to you, Zero, for creating what can only be called an extended family of completely different people, hell bent on having fun, trading paint and enjoying themselves. From our oldest young man in Tex to the teenagers that come and go as their girlfriends also come and go, it couldn't have happened without you.

So big thank you and may it last for many more years. Or, as some Italians like to say, cent'anni!

5 years?! It feels like longer, yet at the same time it feels like it was just last week when I joined. Had a lot of good times racing with you guys. Not nearly as active as I once was, school and work got a fella down. Rig has been taken down as well. However, some free time may be coming my way by time GTS releases, probably this time next year. Rally wagon may just make a come back!
Thanks for the kind words Zer0, and for founding such an amazing organization. It's been an honor watching this league grow from a 2 room racing outfit to drawing in talent that would go on to win the GT Academy. And a shout out to all the people that have and still are working behind the scenes, keeping this league going. Out freaking standing!

Happy Anniversary Snail Racing League! over the years that I have been here I have enjoyed my time a lot here with the very close competitive racer as it has helped me become not only a cleaner and faster racer, but a better person overall.

This is one of the most successful Leagues on GTPlanet and I can speak for all of the drivers we are very thankful to be racing in this league and appreciate all the hard work and time that gets put into this league

Congrats to @zer05ive and to everyone in Snail!

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG (R230) '04 (Sports: Soft) at Nürburgring GP/F (5 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @nmcp1 wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - Hyundai Accent Rally Car '01 (Sports: Medium) at Eiger Nordwand - Short Track / Reverse (10 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @JLBowler gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @msgt-sd so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select should not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to select the Amuse Superlegara for your car, post "Amuse Nismo 380 RS Superlagara". If you want to select Monza for a track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". This makes it much easier for the lineup to be updated accurately and also prevents confusing other league members as to which car or track you are selecting. Also, please be sure to list the PP and HP (after oil change) of any car you select.

Car Selection Guidelines
See Section 3 of the SNAIL OLR, Policies and Guidelines.

Track Selection Guidelines
See Section 3.1 of the SNAIL OLR, Policies and Guidelines
