Hi, everyone. I was curious about SNAIL and wanted to see if I could give it a shot. Is there anything specific I have to do to sign up?

@Obelisk

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

Who has Dirt 4? I just DLd yesterday and have yet to try it.

I really don't know how one can have more than a couple of racing games and immerse yourself in it to enjoy. When I bought my PS3 and GT5 I also bought F1-2011. I think I worked myself up halfway through the F1 Season while going through the GT5 Career Mode and then GT6 came out and then I joined Snail a few months later (April 2014) and I have not started F1 since.

I now have GT6 on PS3 and Project Cars on PS4 and I downloaded The Race Room the other day on PC. There is just not enough time in a week to fully enjoy the potential of them all. I can imagine that the DIRT 4 Game will have an extensive career mode. Where are you going to find time to do it all...???

And then Project Cars 2 and GT Sport later this year to replace the old versions, but still....

I'm retiring from work in about 6 weeks and I thought that might be a good time to start playing all my games, but the wife already has a chore list to keep me occupied until I'm 75 years old - should I rather just keep working?

Don't know if anyone knows or cares but, the main SNAIL thread passed another milestone 10 days ago. The last post on that day? Was by the eldest statesman in SNAIL.

It's been since the 19th of May that I've updated my thread count file so, it kinda' slipped by me as well. Better late than never I reckon.

Hold on. Maths may be wrong by a day or two or three.

Alright. Got maths beat down and squared away.

What?

News item on GT Planet sounds promising for SNAIL:

"GTP: The competition aspect of Gran Turismo Sport is exciting, but many long-time fans of the series are worried about the more traditional, classic parts of the game. Can you reassure them that will still be part of GT Sport?
KY: Gran Turismo Sport is actually going to contain more features than any other game in the series to date. Nothing has been dropped, things have only been added. Whether it be the campaign mode, or the offline gameplay, or the open lobbies, everthing has been raised in quality and there is more of it, so there is nothing to worry about. Nothing has been dropped.

The closed beta is really just one snippet of the whole Gran Turismo Sport experience. It’s just one part of it, and it’s also the most stressful part of the experience, so it’s important that we have the support of the community to help test it out."

It is Truly amazing what you do! I thought you were already retired!

PRIZE B SELECTION....FREEZE THE CAR.

@Beastmodep has forfeited his prize due to inactivity. If you raced in D2, you get to make a suggestion for a track. Make only one suggestion and make it in this thread. Deadline to make a selection will be 11:59 ET tonight (Wednesday). At that point, those that raced in D1 will vote on those suggestions.

@Pamperguy @USERID_77a23 @racingchamp30 @TEX36 @GTLehman @Alexrider007 @thorracing @pubason @Engmatic1 @cliff eden @JamCar0ne @gulfvet67

Suggest we take the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR Touring Car '05 to Ascari Full Track

I suggest we take mitsubishi lancer IX GSR touring csr to Laguna Seca forward

(Please allow me to re-submit my suggestion - following the Friendly Admonition to present various Track Choices to the Drivers in D-1.)

See my suggestion later in the Thread.

I agree with @gulfvet67 in taking the Mitsubishi to Laguna Seca.
(Note: Don't think there is a Reverse Option at Laguna)
I also agree with @golfvet67

I vote for Laguna Seca as well. A track that is not misunderstood.

Caveat is that I will not be here Sunday, but I don't think that negates my vote.

@Obelisk - I have no doubt that you will enjoy your time here immensely, and I think we will as well - welcome to the tribe.

D1 will vote for the combo. You guys are supposed to give them options to vote on.

Misunderstood is a good way to put it. Some people understand it to be a race track and it's just not.

Those you are referring to may not have understood the difference between track, rumble strip, run off and grass. I sure didn't way back when it was last ran. But then, I was new, in D8, using a controller (struggling to stay on track ) and listening to those very people. The root of the problem was those people were in all the practice rooms telling everyone how to take those corners. and I was one of the victims who listened.

My comment had nothing to do with track boundaries. It had to do with the fact that Ascari is not a race track. It was not designed to be a race track. It was designed to be a playground for people to drive cars in a line on a circuit. It was not designed to have passing opportunities, proper rumble strips, or any other features of a real race track.

With that in mind, those who understand Ascari to be a race track are misunderstanding the purpose and design of the resort.

My short 2¢:

Ascari, as far as I've looked into it, is a hodge-podge of famous corners from other circuits. One of its corners is even called Petit Eau Rouge! Its own website makes no reference to conventional motorsports, and seems to be worded to appeal to clubs and private businesses. I think PD added it in as a sort of "museum piece", if that makes sense. It's a track, but not one suited for high numbers of cars at once.

D1 will vote for the combo. You guys are supposed to give them options to vote on.
In the interest of, and recommendation for, Options of Choice to race the Mitsubishi, may I re-submit my Suggestion as follows:

Please consider:
Mount Panorama in your voting.
