Drivers,

The weekly votes have been tallied. The Ford Fusion Stockcar has been replaced by the Cadillac ATS-V.R GT3. The caddy's first stop will be at the big Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.

Congraulations to @gtr3123 for another overall win! However, not a sweep this week. @irmopars is fighting hard agasint GTR for a Tuesday top step. With close points battles all the way through the field, season 10 is looking to be another fine exhibition of competition. :)

Here's 2 ideas that I would like to hear your feedback, including you @JoeW :

Combo options to vote:
Everybody here once did that one race they just loved it. Everybody here here has that car/track they know it's awesome.
Why can't we vote for the next combo a personal choice from every single participant in the season? Or at least in the last race?
Everybody has time to find something special to propose here, right? Ok, bring it on and we'll have an amazing list of 10, 11, 12 combos to vote from.
I bet there will be thousends of ways to work around this idea so... bring it on.

A little twist:
Vs combos. BMW M1 vs Ford Focus? Ruf vs Pagani? Two decent rides from the same car class could be dropped in the mix too, right?

Let's talk about it.

Just based off of what experience I had as co director for RCS and the old WRRC, and director of PSEC, I can tell you that most of the time when asked for advise from the crowd you start to realize you can't please everyone. There is always something new that could be implicated to a series. And most of the time there has to be a lot of work to change the machine the way it's programmed. Yes these new things may or may not help said series but when you get to the bottom of it, if a series is running smoothly then dramatic changes will impact turnout which can impact entertainment from the night for all involved. Again this can go either way but most of the time it makes things more complicated. With everything that is done to maintain a series along with racing in that series and/or another plus life = busy. Something that requires the director to rely on more of the drivers to determine how a selection is made means that there can be delays in knowing combos which can cause complaints of not being able to practice soon enough. Coupled with after a few seasons that some or most drivers having a shot at a combo it would either slim down to a couple people picking and may just be guessing combos or aiming for combos they thrive in. Which takes away from the diversity which is what the goal is in the end. All little factors like this play a part. I'm not arguing for or against anything just stating my 2 cents.

Well, i can't say I'm not amazed with the level of "I don't give two ****s" about what I posted above but not surprised either.

@Schmiggz

I don't think it's a matter of people not caring as it is a matter of people simply not having much to say.

I read your thoughts and understand the underlying principle. I get it, and I've always been clearly open & onboard with that general concept, but there are prerequisites that need to be met in order for that to be successful without taking the series astray from its mission and keeping inline with "the machine". Still, with driver appointed options, I guarantee nothing will change with regards to contentment with combos. At the end of the day the combo, "good" or "bad" is the essense of the challenge in any spec series. With different people, different driving styles & different talent levels giving input, there will always be disagreements. That is something that will never change. It is by definition, the nature of the beast.

WRRC = Challenge of adapting driver to car
PSEC = Challenge of adapting car to driver

Jeez Schmiggz, I don't think that's fair, only seven hrs passed between your suggestion and the above. I'm sure a number of us didn't even see your post until today, and I think most of us do give a **** about what happens here.

I think your idea is good, and that a number of interesting combo's would likely emerge, but my opinion is that the level of participation would be small and most likely come from the same people each week. People would have to have a combo in mind before hand so that they could be posted the next day after the race (as Lessen does), so that we would have time to vote on them. Most weeks I think we have a good selection of different cars and tracks to vote on, and if you look at the level of voting participation each week it rarely involves more than 50% of participants.
I think one benefit of people making a suggestion is that hopefully that combo will have been well tested by the suggester. But what might be a great combo for you, might be the opposite for me. There is no way Lessen has the time to thoroughly test each combo so sometimes they don't always work out the best, but we all end up having to drive the same combo so it's not a big deal.

There is nothing wrong in making suggestions that might improve a series, but we have to look at how that would change the work required to keep it running. In the end, it is Lessens series and he has to make the decisions, time has proven that liked or not, it is the best way to run it.

Cheers

My 2 cents on this subject is this,as long as I've been doing this between PCars and GT,there is no "magic bullet" to make everyone happy and make the perfect series,it is what it is,like Mr.Lobban I enjoy racing with my friends

Just another thought on the series,it really doesn't matter what you do you're almost always gonna have the same core group of drivers, the league I raced in on GT,I raced with those guys for 4 yrs,we had a really great core group of about 10 guys that showed every week then you had those that would pop in every once in a while or when we were in a season that suited their style or taste then be gone again

Thanks for reply.
I just think that combo choice should be different and once in a while including a "vs" series. It's not that hard to process and I'll be glad to help in any form.
