TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - FLEX RACING SERIES

Race 2: December 13, 2014 | Two - 45 Minute Races

McLaren F1 GTR Race Car Base Model '95 | Racing Soft

Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps | 21 Laps

Caution

Usually we rely on the in-game penalty system. However, the penalty system on this track is relatively ineffective even set on strong. Therefore, we will have review the race for infractions paying close attention to Eau Rouge.

DRIVERS MEETING

The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports

"It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free."

Rules

You are expected to follow The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports and adhere to the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules and exercise Good Racecraft at all times, especially in turn 1.

"Rubbin"

This is a non-contact sport. Let me put it another way, if you are "rubbin", you ain't racing in this league. We will not tolerate individual drivers taking the fun out of racing for everyone.

First Turn

You are not going to win the race on the 1st turn or the 1st lap. Therefore, it is the policy of this league for you to hold your position in turn 1. Holding your position in the first turn is limited to the first turn on the first lap. You must hold your position through the 1st turn and make no attempt to advance it unless the following situations occur: 1) The driver directly in front of you is asleep on the start. 2) The driver directly in front of you runs off course with at least 2 wheels off the track. 3) Obvious race incidents that must be avoided. Other drivers may draft past you before the approach to turn 1 if it can be done incident free. In other words, if you are able to fully draft past someone without incident or disruption to the other driver(s) with a reasonable distance before approaching the first turn you may. This rule is in place for 2 reason: (1) to avoid incidents in the first turn, and (2) so that drivers doing their part to avoid incidents in the 1st turn of are not taken advantage of. There is no sense in causing an incident in the congestion of the first turn. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to take advantage of other drivers doing their part to keep turn 1 incident free. If a complaint is filed, the decision we make will be one that promotes an incident free first turn.

Dive Bombing

Dive bombing is unacceptable
, and only results in accidents. It is not the same as passing under braking. Dive-bombing is when a trailing car intentionally brakes late to dive underneath the car in front of them as they are turning into a corner. The trailing driver must move to the low groove for at least 3-4 seconds prior to corner entry, so that the leading driver can see the trailing drivers intentions in his mirror. However, running the low groove is not a guarantee that he will allow you to pass, it is only an indication that you wish to pass him on the low side.

Procedures

Until everyone has accepted the TURTLE RACING LEAGUE "Community" invitation and we have more experience with the "Community" function we will run the races in an open lobby. Go to "Open Lobby" and check the "Friends Rooms Only" box and look for TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - FLEX RACING SERIES and enter. Races will begin at 10pm Eastern time.

Connection Issues

Please follow the procedures below to help minimize connection issues

Step 1: Reboot your modem/router
Step 2: Reboot your PS3
Step 3: Clear your GT6 in game System Cache

Pit Stops

Drivers need to be very careful entering the race track when exiting the pit. Please look at your map to see if other drivers are near the pit exit. Drivers exiting the pit need to stay in the pit exit lane until the track is clear of cars on the track. Cars on the track have the right of way.

Quitting

Drivers are expected to finish races no matter what position they are in. Rage quitting is frowned upon!

Microphones

Although you are welcome to use microphones during the race, they should only be used to communicate your proximity to other drivers in order to avoid an incident. Otherwise, either mute them or make sure any background noise in non-existent.

Reminders

1: Hold your position and do not attempt advance it in turn 1 of lap 1
2: If you go off track make sure the track is clear before you re-enter
3: Watch for cars on the track coming out of the pit, stay to the inside
4: If you cause an incident you must wait and give the position back

Race Incidents

Legitimate complaints are encouraged, they insure a better racing environment for everyone. Complaints should be addressed by "Private Message" to the race steward of the race in which the incident occurred. Please include race number, lap number, and time of incident. A ruling will be announced after a video review by an independent steward. All racing incidents or racing related issues shall be dealt with privately and under no circumstance mentioned publicly.

Final Note

Race Clean and Have Fun!

I think we need to add Pouchon and Blanchimont to the list of places to be careful? One can easily run off the track but the run-off is paved, so the 'penalty' is non-existent there

The second spring in the brake pedal broke so I replaced that. Then in calibration I figured out the brake potentiometer was acting sporadic. So I cut the clutch one off and spliced some wires and have a good brake again. Hopefully this will improve some consistency. If not I'll have to find another excuse, lol

Not gonna be able to make it again..starting to really bother me that I can't.

This time some of my street stock racers and their family's are coming over to have dinner with us tonight and hang out after.

I will return to turtle soon! It will happen just this real life racing has taken over but it will happen!

Sorry guys. Looks Like a fun combo! Good luck Turtles!

On the Plus side, here's my new number logo and helmet wrap for 2015 what do you turtles think

Will do, is there knockout qualifying or is it first come, first serve?
In the event we have more than 16 people attempt to race this week, then we will open up a second room and try to split the rooms evenly so everyone can race. For qualifying itself, a 15 minute qualifying session will set the starting grid. Race 2 will be a reverse grid.

Thankyou for the info. Cool to see that nobody gets left out :) 👍

That is sweet! Sorry you can't make it tonight. :nervous:

We'll watch everything and pay the closest attention to the areas that give the most advantage. The bottom line is it would be a mistake to take advantage of the poor in-game penalty system on this track. Under normal circumstances we wouldn't even bother with reviewing the race unless someone points something out. But, the penalty system on this track is particularly ineffective.

Lobby is Open TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - RACE

If the lobby shows full send a PSN message to me so we can split the field and make 2 lobbies

Good luck tonight guys. I'm at work so I won't be there. Y'all are gonna have a blast.

I ran 5 laps this morning to get a taste of what I'd be missing. The car handles good, doesn't seem to like high B/B under hard braking though. Had a fast lap in the mid 2:09's but that was off line.
Great combo psycho on a great track.

Couldn't get in the room, it was full. I was a few minutes late anyway and i'm tired, so it's probably for the best.

Enjoy the racing!

To the driver that ran me over in race 2, thanks for waiting on me.

/sarcasm

The racing was decent but I don't think I have any skill being around here...

Work at it bud

Besides, who wants to run up front, everyone knows the best racing is at the back of the pack

Tonight was fun.

For race one, I was able to keep up with the tail end of the group. Even though I couldn't pass without having the driver in front of me make an unforced error, it is much better than driving totally alone in last place.

That wasn't the case for the 2nd race. I made several errors that made me in the last place. Titanzdude for some reason stayed with me, letting me pass and watching him crash in the rear view mirror...

Also, found out that my car was in need of oil change. I did change the oil when I bought it, or so I thought. Either that, or I practiced a lot... Still I think I'm improving... I can't wait til the next race!

Great racing tonight everyone! I'm still awfull at endurance racing but love the competition that ensues every time I race with my fellow Turtles. It was awesome to see the old gang racing again and some new racers as well. Thank you everyone.
