I think that for everyone has their own preference in weather its a wheel and manual, or DS3 manual or automatic. but i think it was all about the start when they got on GT, im assuming dolph has always been on the DS3 as well as RacingOtaku. Ive started on the DS3 but didnt use it that much then switched to a wheel. Im not sure if dolph or racingotaku or anyone with a DS3 does much like Karting, or any sort of racing in real life, but to me it sounds like most actual racers in real life use a wheel on GT, its like a habit for them, and they are used to it. That might not be true though.

If you can get the transition down from a DS3 to a wheel, or Automatic to Manual, or other way down if it benefits you, it can be really nice.

I also run with a GTEYE Brake Spring to get more tension when i brake and quicker braking, also i installed these larger G27 pedals. I like them because i have size 14 shoes so thats basically how big my feet are and its easier to manage the throttle and brake for me.

It takes time with transition just stick with it and it will benefit in the long run.

I have a t80 and use automatic

Have paddle shifters. Will have to practice.

DS3, auto, X for gas, square for brake, d-pad for turning. Very old school here.

Since my surgery, I've used hand controls for my car. So I imagine my experience is much different from everyone else's. I did go go karting last fall with my family. Since I didn't have to move my right leg between the gas and brake, it wasn't too much of an issue. Still kinda tough, but lots of fun! :dopey:

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.
Amen!

You do great at racing for what you have gone through 👍 Dolph is always keeping it retro! :sly:

I went from a DS3 to a wheel without much of a problem. My biggest hurdle has been unlearning arcade style driving.

I think Turtle will brake that habbit for you 👍

Also kinda late but just started on taking pictures of last Saturdays race. I'll get them posted tonight or tomorrow during the day

I recently obtained a t300rs wheel. Use Manual.

Dolph = DS3 and automatic shifting
Physher uses G27 wheel and manual
Psycho uses G27 wheel and manual
those are the ones i know.

"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few"; "or the one."
"Revenge is a dish best served cold."

What were you using before you got the t300rs?

Was kind of in the dark for the past couple of days, but it was great racing with you guys last weekend. I might be a bit stuck on race day, but I will be trying to make it. Glad to be in D1 now, though you guys are animals. Now I have to figure out how to get that much faster, and keep consistent.

on a side note:
I think the tie breaker for divisions should be overall results if we all race in the same room. At least this week it should be

As far as I'm concerned, mic took that home for d2. No questions. But I will have my vengeance!!! Hopefully we'll keep up the close finishes and tough racing.

I'm sure it's been discussed but what wheels are you using? Automatic or manual?

I use a G27 and in that last race I was on paddles. I would love to use the H-Shifter during an online race, and even though I've been getting better, I still feel like I'd miss some crucial shifts in the heat of the moment, or perhaps botching some heel-toe downshifts. Not good for consistency, unless I'm consistently running off the track in turns.

i use a used $10 DGFT seems to work good but the gas and brake still seem like an "ON/OFF" switch very difficult to drive without traction control.

make sure you initialize them properly. when the game is loading, after the wheel rotates, depress each pedal fully to the floor so the game uses the entire range of motion. I never had that problem at all. my problem was always with them either sticking or activating without being pressed. But opening them up and messing with them always fixed it for a month or two...

How do you like your new wheel compared to your DFGT?

👍

it's a very nice wheel. And with the firmer brake pedal, i can left foot brake comfortably now. You'd think that would help my lap times, but it doesn't seem to.

The force feedback detail is top notch

When did start left foot braking?

I don't know, October/November? I haven't really adjusted to it fully yet, but i focus on it once in a while to try to retrain myself to use Brake/Throttle to help the car corner better using the weight transfer to my advantage.

Maybe I'll be there some day, but i'm an old fart, so the brain and reflexes are getting slower by the day. Offsetting any small gain i might have by left foot braking.

By the way, someone in layman's terms that anyone can understand explain what "trail braking" is exactly.

Braking mid-corner to shift the G's forward to get the most out of the front tires?

I've never tried left-footing it, so I have no real idea. :P

You start turning while braking and you release it slowly while you approach the apex, instead of releasing the brakes before the turn: By doing this you transfer the weight to the front tyres = less understeer

that's awesome Ph1sher!

Thank You Bionic and a big 👍 to G$ Parilla.

That was sort of what i thought, but it's nice to see that graphical representation of it and confirmation.

P.S. Psycho, that was why i rear ended you Saturday ; :dunce:DOH!:dunce:

I here have a DFGT. Great wheel for its price, but still not anywhere near as great as the higher priced wheels. The main problem I have is the pedals. They are not anywhere near stiff, and the brake pedal is starting to stick after 3/4 years of use. But, I've put on the GranTurgismo paddle shifters, and they make such a big difference from the stupid little buttons on the back.

Bet it would be nice for the people who have a DFGT to have a GTEYE brake mod like us G25/G27 people can do if we want too. Gives the brake much more stiff then switched the clutch and gas spring around for more stiffness in the gas pedal.

Mic I don't know how you set your BB but for trail braking set your rear brake bias a couple cliks higher than your front. That way you keep the weight transfered to the front and it helps rotate the car thru the turn.

I think a good place to practice trail braking is the 1st turn at Grand Vally or the 1st turn at Suzuka.
I had no idea you didn't left foot brake. You sure can't tell it as fast as you are.
